I was told there would be gains

5'11, 165lbs. Been lifting for 13 months. All my lifts are approaching intermediate levels (185 bench, 235 squat, 275 DL), but I still look like I don't lift. How do I look like I lift, Veeky Forums?

Do accessory work once in a while, this isn't complicated

your lifts are garbage for 13 months

keep a record of your lifts in a book and try to beat the previous weeks lifts until you fucking kill yourself

Eat more

are you using free weights?

I work out at home mostly with a power rack and some dumbells that I don't really use because I'm too lazy to switch the plates. Sometimes after my strength sets I'll do 3x8 of whatever big 3 lift I was doing, is that acceptable?

SS claims another victim

you're stupid

>too lazy to switch the plates

I'm seeing a pattern here

I like to think I made good progress with strength considering:

- 1 year ago I was 20 pounds heavier and my lifts were lighter. As you can see even after losing 20 pounds I'm still fat so it's hard to increase lifts every workout while also losing weight

- I suffered two major injuries in the past year that required time off. One was a back injury in which I had to be a curlbro for a couple months, and the other injury required surgery and complete time off the gym to recover.

>Those lifts
>13 months
They better be for 5x5 or 3x12 or something because that's garbage. also 165 511 you're a twink harry

I got 185 bench 295 squat 385 deadlift all for 4x10 and dont look like i lift either

>he fell for the I need to see my abs meme
Bro you need to start thinking long term fuck if you look a bit builtchubby for 1-2 years if you can reach 1-2-3-4 for reps your upper body will explode and unless you go retard with your cut you will be able to cut fat more easily since you have more musclemass.

No I am not advocating for you to become a 280 SHW powershitter just slowly gain up to 20 lbs in the next year whilst doing a decent program.

>totally hairless body
low test gains desu

How is it even possible to make strength gains without putting on muscle? I know there's the CNS component and increase in efficiency in terms of muscle fiber recruitment (not to mention lifting technique) but I can't imagine it's possible to start looking like a skeleton and wind up with decent lifts and still look like a skeleton. I mean, at some point wouldn't you have to build more muscle? Are there people who can bench 300 and still look like OP?

It's very possible

youtube.com/watch?v=cak9lRrPGBY

Just keep going man. I started out same height getting clean off black tar heroin and it literally took years to break dyel with strict diet and exercise. Some of us just have to work harder and longer.

1 rep 420 with a belt aint even strong tho

> Are there people who can bench 300 and still look like OP
No, however OP is not lifting enough to elicit visible muscle growth, he has had muscle growth though they even did a study recently on this to address the bro science that only cns gains in first month of lifting and they found that people gained muscle as well.

Skinny kid has good levers for DL and you can't see his back, look at some of the Powerlifters, weightlifters in 130~ categories or higher even though skinny they have loadsa muscle.

>13 months to reach that

Jesusfuck

OP here, based on the feedback ITT even though I consider myself high body fat, not a single person here has suggested I cut. So I'm going to go ahead and try to eat a bit more and add weight to my lifts every workout (been eating at maintenance more or less the past several months hence slow progression).

Just telling you another thing OP your diet needs to improve as well, I would honestly cut out all processed sweets and try to eat lean cuts of meat even when bulking i've noticed that it helped me in both my performance at the gym and reduced that bloating shitty bulk feeling that you get.

>Trains for strength
>Wants hypertrophy
Do proper bulk diet and 4x12 sets.

How do you think gaining strength happens?
Hint: via muscles getting bigger.
Hint: that's the same thing as hypertrophy.

Let me guess, SS/stronglifts?

Hint: It's not
Hint: Minimum muscle needed =/= Maximum muscle possible
There's olympic lifters that look almost dyel.
In b4 "you just need to lift more"

Do you understand the concept of weight classes?

If he aint 130pds it weak

>All my lifts are intermediate
No they aren't.

Intermediate is
225 bench
315 squat
405 deadlift

MINIMUM.

OP here, Last question guys. How would your opinion change if you knew I was 27% body fat (DEXA verified)? Is bulking still a great idea?

IDK, I went based off the Exrx strength standard table. I'm 165 lbs.

27% bf means nothing when ur this weak and scrawny. Bulk.

Judging by how you type you are literally autistic

Cut and gain muscle and strength while you cut.

holy shit Veeky Forums doesnt even fucking lift.. why does this fucking board exist you fucking dyels

I had a similar issue, changed my workout plan "full body 3 days a week" & my diet, Bfast porridge/yoghurt/Banana - Lunch Basmati Rice/Mushrooms/Egg White/Peas/Chilli - Snacks Protein Bliss Ball - Rice Cracker, Dinner Egg white omelette - 2 eggs/mushrooms/capsicum/tomatos/egg whites/spinach/cheese/chilli. Before Bed Protein Smoothie.. lots of water + mutli vitamin + fish oil and aspirin..

lol why is the bench so weak?

> these are the people who say "SS is a meme routine" and tell you not to do it

does this mean ss is a meme

should i not do it ?

what the fuck is the aspirin for?

>Plot twist: this guy is on SS

>SS claims another victim

it goes in his butt

He's 74kg
Ive been lifting for 13-14 months now and pull 195kg quite easily (440k) at 84kg bw without a belt. This guy cant have been training for very long.

>27% body fat
you're obese
>Most researchers have used >25% in men, and >30% in women, as cut-points to define obesity -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classification_of_obesity#Body_fat_percentage

My lifts are almost at your level after 2 months. Thats got to say something about yours. Top it off with the fact that I started as a 65kg spooky skeleton. Now im a 70kg spooky skeleton.

no way you're 27%

>There's olympic lifters that look almost dyel.
Their arms and chest maybe, which they don't use. Take a look at the legs.

Start doing full body 3 times a week
Eat healthy, non-processed foods
pic related, my gains after 8 months

2 months of stronglifts and I only bench 110 5x5 should I kill myself before I become op?

bullshit you're 27% bodyfat, that's obese. you look chubby, not obese, unless those shorts are hiding some retardedly fat ass.

fatties in denial. i bet you look close to OP but refuse to even think you might be 20%+

unless you think his DEXA results are inaccurate then it's time to rethink what obesity looks like.

Hint: dont Talk about stuff you dont Know shit about kid

fucking bullshit, you're at 20-22% at most
BULK
