They could, but oftentimes less complicated explosive exercises like power cleans, box jumps etc end up having better carryover. Less time put into establishing technique and more into building power.

As a (bad)grappler I train with semi-heavy kettlebells (32-40-45) kg and HITT.
My reccomendation would be turkish get ups. My coach calls it THE exercise for grapplers. TGU's and Swings.

BJJ gym calls for 3-4 workouts per week, normal gym will call for at least 2 days. Six workouts per week total. Isn't it too much?

Weight should be as close as possible to the limit in your class, and as lean as possible too. Good cardio is important and without it you will look like a bitch on the mat.

On a semi-related note, apparently a lot of wrestlers prefer competing close to the lower limit of their weight class, can anyone explain why that is? In BJJ athletes usually do the opposite.
