American political system

How do American political system work? Do you have parliament? Why you only hace 2 parties? Im sorry but im a brainlet

you got the senate with a senator for each state and you also have the assembly of the plebs with 453 super plebs and one tribune

>How do American political system work?
it doesn't
>Do you have parliament?
it's called Congress with Senate and House of representatives
>Why you only hace 2 parties?
because American politics are corrupt to the fucking max and third parties are treated like lepers by the electorate

You have three parts, the legislature, the legal system and the executive
This is just an imitation of the British bicameral parliamentary monarchy
Burgers decided the executive (President) can’t just appoint politicians for life so their upper and lower houses (senate and congress) are both elected
But the legal system (Supreme Court) is appointed for life and when someone dies then the president replaces them with someone, the legal system decides whether or not a democratically passed law is illegal, although the highest court in the lane they can decide whether a city council in Georgia is doing something wrong
The executive is the president and can pardon anyone, he runs, with or without a parties backing, and is determined by the electoral college, which is undemocratic as fuck and means left wing cities can fuck over right wing countryside. The electoral college is similar to how in Britain it’s the party with the most seats that gets to appoint a PM, but they just don’t let these electoral college people determine anything else
The legislature can introduce new legislation, the legal gives advice on new legislation (e.g. how blacks should be integrated into schools) whilst the president is basically a pressure figure and diplomat, he can also pardon anyone of crimes because it makes more sense

All in all a cancerous system, America should be balkanised and have a system they favours the villages not the cities

>why do you only have two parties
Because no one is brave enough to run by themselves often, and other times the positions they run for are first past the post, so splitting up the left wing vote along the lines of how much should students pay for university just lets republicans win
Similar to Britain where ATM its just labour and conservatives with the other parties as opinion polls (or finding out if someone does weed in the case of the greens)

>which is undemocratic as fuck and means left wing cities can fuck over right wing countryside
Isn't it designed to exactly prevent this sort of thing? Isn't that what all the Hillary voters complained about during this election?

what is the differences between the Republicans and the Democrats. Tell me in some why that I can understand.

its meant to help low population states is what i was taught anyway

the whole we shouldn't squash the minority

>How do American political system work?
It only just barely works. This is actually a "feature" of checks and balances between the three branches of government: the judicial, the executive, and the legislative.

>Do you have parliament?
The US is presidential rather than parliamentary. There's a congress which is wholly separate from the executive.

>Why you only hace 2 parties?
Because of how the presidential race works with first-past-the-post voting and its (mostly) direct vote, third party candidates are pushed out because of strategic voting. It forces parties into two big tents. If the US had a different voting system and a parliamentary government, it would have more parties.

>what is the differences between the Republicans and the Democrats.
Republicans are right wing and Democrats are left wing. Well, that's what they say. They're almost identical nowadays. Both are stuffed with neoliberals and neoconservatives.

No Hilary voters complained because they lost, most losing sides do
Trump only won because states which are normally pretty democrat went republican

Republicans and Democrats are about as different as the Tories and Tony Blair's 'New Labour' movement from the 90s, ideologically speaking. Both are substantially pro-corporation, just pro-different corporations. The big differences are really social matters, which is part of the reason why identity politics have grabbed so much traction now: it feels like those are the only things that can really be changed.

it's kinda wonky but then you look around and realize how many western countries have been voting in the same fucking party/candidates for the past 15 years save for occasional protest vote for some underdog you start thinking what's the fucking point

>which is undemocratic as fuck and means left wing cities can fuck over right wing countryside.
Untrue. A single Californian's vote is fucking worthless compared to a voter from Wyoming.

>the electoral college, which is undemocratic as fuck and means left wing cities can fuck over right wing countryside.
ah yes, the electoral college gives so much power to the left wing over the right wing, which is why 3 out of the last 4 times a republican won the presidency they lost the popular vote. Clearly this system is terribly biased against the republicans.

Where did it all go so wrong, bros?

This

>Why you only hace 2 parties
tradition, because voters tend to be very apathetic and care mostly about the big names, more funding, and because the system is winner take all, meaning parties that aren't mainstream simply don't have a chance. the two parties tend to kinda bully third parties in that they'll simply co-opt new, popular ideas and push them out. of course, third parties can also sabotage the two main ones if their ideas coincide or other similar scenarios.

No you don't understand, clearly the LITTLE COUNTRY MAN is the one being persecuted. I mean, I dislike gaya but now being gay is legal? That's a violation of my rights. Christians are being silenced

roll

When democrats always get a majority there MUH ONE VS ONE doesn't account for match
republicans need broad allainces to win cities and towns, democrats can do whatever they want to win cities
Yeah just get your beleifs laughed at, or get sued for discrimination because you refuse to validate someone's opinion, and if you want to go into medicine you have to study abortions even if you wanna be a GP and beleive life starts at conception

First past the post is a joke electoral system anyway

why should one persons vote mean more than another??

Because that's what the founding fathers wanted, take it up with them

Each state actually has two senators. And if by Tribune you're referring to the Speaker, he's actually included in the 435.

Because that's how the system works. You get more seats in the house, more economic power, and more social capital. They get slightly less fucked when picking the executive, and equal say in the creation of federal laws.

I mean, you could change it, but you would need all 50 states to agree. Talented orator and political philosopher that you are, I'm sure you could win them over

>Yeah just get your beleifs laughed at, or get sued for discrimination because you refuse to validate someone's opinion
wow, this is soooo much worse than being actually discriminated

>actually discriminated
Have you considered that as you’re atheists you like don’t need a ceremony to be allowed to fugg

It's not about ceremonies, it's about legal recognition of relationship and rights, privileges, duties that come with it.
Some gays and lesbians had "wedding" parties with hired people acting as priests or clerks. Political struggle was all about taxes, hospital seeings etc. (dunno how marriages work in US tho)

>It's not about ceremonies, it's about legal recognition of relationship and rights, privileges, duties that come with it.

i doubt there is even a 100million atheists here

We don't only have 2 parties. The top two parties dwarf all of the other parties by huge magnitudes. But there may be 6, 8 or 10 candidates running for the same office, not just Democrat and Republican, but Libertarian, American, Constitutional, Green, Socialist, etc.

The reason there's usually only two dominant parties has to do with consolidating power; usually one group is the normal people, and the other group is a collection of misfits.

The political parties in America are private organizations, like Apple or Pepsico. They have nothing to do with the government. They just run people for office, who then run the government.

A wise man once said that representative government can only function until the people realize that they can vote money for themselves out of the public coffers. Once that happens, the entire system is corrupted.

As we are now corrupted.

So which country has a good voting system?
I live in Germany and I kinda like what we do here. You get two votes: One for the direct representative of your local electoral district, and one for the party list. It mostly alleviates the problem of strategic voting.
Votes don't matter more or less according to your state, but to your electoral district, and the differences are very small.
The chancellor is appointed by parliament, not directly or indirectly by the people. So there's also no electoral college.
Parliament is bicameral with the Bundestag (lower house) and Bundesrat (upper house, representing the states).
