>Also, why do /pol/tards love Poland for their demographics when Ireland is better, prosperous, and more religious?
Ireland has a very wide leftist/communist base due to it's history and the fact it never was a Eastern Bloc country, meanwhile the Poles understand completely what it feels to be under a communist's boot.

Irish people aren't religious at all, retard. They're all leftists with facial piercings and dyed hair who call themselves Catholic but never go to Church.

this is the extent of Irish leftism, the general populace is apathetic at most

It literally isn't, Republicanism =/= Socialism, many had socialist sympathies decades ago when the IRA was still a proper movement but there was a schism over Marxism There've even been fascists in the IRA historically because it's first and foremost an Irish advocacy movement Leftism in Ireland today is whining about water charges and childish drama with Labour, "true" leftists are crusty auld fellas nobody listens to

IRA and socialism have always been closely connected and many forces in the Irish republican movement have been socialist. Your argument that "leftism" is marginal in Ireland is absolutely ridiculous.
Luke Brown
>IRA and socialism have always been closely connected >links IRA of civil war to the start of the troubles when it was boiled down to the most radical nationalists/socialists/marxists with a preponderance of the two latter And isn't it a surprise that when the Troubles kicked off properly and the support base was among the grass roots and people rather than a close knit cabal of radicals, it split to all fuck because people wanted autonomy for themselves and other Irish in the 6 counties or civil rights within the state at the least, and didn't care much about ambiguous economic theory. IRA and socialism/leftism have been closely linked in the past though definitely, socialists are a good pool of militants to draw from, they've never been a majority though except when the movement was very marginal in the time period you linked from after the civil war to a bit before the Troubles.
>Your argument that "leftism" is marginal in Ireland is absolutely ridiculous. I don't know why you'd think the IRA decades ago would be indicative of political currents in the general populace today, that's a silly leap to make.

In 2015 62 percent of voters favored gay marriage and 38 percent opposed it — making Ireland the first country in the world to legalize gay marriage by popular vote.
>kept from exercising self determination Balkans, aside from Croatia and Slovenia. Also Ireland is a commie shithole full of betas, fags and LARPers with less architecture than Afghanistan and surprisingly more commie blocks that never exceed 100 meters. All the cultural areas in Ireland are in the west along with the landscapes but it's all full of inbreds (not an exaggeration btw) and culture is endemic but minimal due to eternal Anglo. D*blin is Detroit tier west England and all the youth is drunk 24/7 because they can't into social interaction. The only good thing about Ireland is some untouched hostile landscapes like in Connemara and the music is pretty nice. Other than that it's a quintessentially western country without the rich history and beauty but full of vapid modernity. Every now and then you find the odd IRA sperg that everyone spits on but other than that, most people there are standard westerners. City centers smell like piss, neighbourhoods look the same and nature is pretty. t. Worked in Ireland

Ireland is becoming one of the big success stories for taking advantage of neo liberalism, playing corporate taxes to get companies to set up meme offices here, bank deregulation which fucked us hard in 2008 all be it bringing the country out of a state of eternal emigration and backwardness which we can capitalise on to possibly further steal all that finance company Gibs fleeing from Britain. The movements to revive the Irish language largely failed having been half hearted and incompetently implemented on a population which for most of the mid 20th century, was in poverty or abroad, and for which much nationalism was limited to more easily accessible things like GAA. To be Irish is to be weighed down by all this failure, however the pollacks spread the meme that Poland stronk even though they've gotten screwed much harder than us, all be it kept the language in its entirety.
Hunter Rivera
I'd say the situations are not really comparable. The us had a continent's worth of resources and no threats nearby. But it is certainly true that many of modern Ireland's problems are self made, I won't deny that. I thought we were only speaking historically.
