Swimming

What do you think about swimming? Is it the best kind of cardio there is? Can running even compete with it? How often do you swim and what's your prefered style?

Swimming and rowing are demigod tier

Running is literally the worst cardio

swimming is for old people, faggots, and old faggots.

>Running is literally the worst cardio

spoken like a person who has never even tried running.

runner's high is one of the best things in this world.

I spin.

>runner's high is one of the best things in this world.

only after mountaineering high, I cried and cummed after reaching a peak once, I had to carry my legs with my arms to reach it.

i swim between old people and shitty wee kids every day for 20 mins after gym, seems to be doing fuck all but it is tiring if you swim hard enough, especially after gym

go to a decent pool though
>swimming lengths
>fat piece of shit gets into the pool directly in my swim line
>swims towards me
>acts disgusted when i dont move out of its way
>every fucking time

dont even get me started on ignorant wee kids and their useless shitty parents

Who dat girl?

Lmao at people who don't do heroin and think they know anything about good feelings

>not swimming in the ocean
What are you, fucking gay?

Current resistance makes an hour of swimming feel like three hours of running.

>i swim between old people and shitty wee kids every day for 20 mins after gym
Is that included in your gym membership? 1 hour costs 3,50 here. I can't imagine doing that all the time.

na my gym doesnt have a pool or much else than some old rusty weights

i go to a local pool for cardio because i cant run due to my ankle being fucked

I swim in the sea everyday during the summer.
Pleasant and exhilarating as fuck.

I'm scared to death by water where I can't see the ground. I literally cannot swim in lakes, the ocean or whatever.

dont be a pussy, what do you think is down there?

Bro, if a shark attacks you in the ocean, just punch it in the face. You'll live. Twinks and grils survive all the time. Besides, unless you're fat they won't want to eat you.

The fact that I don't know what's below me is fucking scary.

come swim with me, senpai.

Omg .. it is the same for me..
If i cant see the bottom, its a big -no no no for me.. i'll better stay in the shallow water , or where i can see something through ..

Only with a girl of my choice and the end goal of that specific pool.

It's nothing cool, trust me. I live on an island and swim out 200 feet/take a boat out even further. I've seen literally one shark in my life and it may have been a dolphin. Shit, I see dolphins pretty often. You scared of dolphins?

>5 meter pool

When they touch my legs without me noticing, yes. When they turn up right next to me to catch breath? Sure.

Just looking at this picture makes me feel uneasy.

That's like 500 feet away from shore bruh

What has that to do with anything?

And that shit's at the bottom of the ocean

just saying you're scared of things you'll never encounter

youtube.com/watch?v=qoP1N0OyFic

Yeah. I would have a heart stroke with one next to me.

I don't know how you've never seen anything aside from dolphins. It's pretty common to see jellyfish and turtles, but I've also seen stingrays, sea snakes, sharks, whales (a hundred metres away was the closest it got, and I was hundreds of metres out) and stepped on sea urchins.

You can get that high from any sustained cardio though.

Swimming in water containing chloride lowers testosteron.

>llifeguard in a booth
>rope around the pool

what an autistic pool

...

amen
i've tried several and it's so much easier and better with running

how the fuck does it?

It's cool bro, he's just going to play.

fears like this aren't rational, they're the result of millions of years of instinct.

chlorine heals all wounds
chlorine gives you beautiful skin
you must accept chlorine

>chlorine gives you beautiful skin
Is that true?

>In 2003, the crew of a yacht competing to win the round-the-world Jules Verne Trophy reported being attacked by a giant squid several hours after departing from Brittany, France. The squid purportedly latched onto the ship and blocked the rudder with two tentacles. Olivier de Kersauson (captain of the yacht) then stopped the boat, causing the squid to lose interest. "We didn't have anything to scare off this beast, so I don't know what we would have done if it hadn't let go," Kersauson said.[8]

>recent estimates put the maximum size at 13 m (43 ft) for females and 10 m (33 ft) for males

fuck these guys

What the fuck, it's true.

I was a competitive swimmer when I was younger and I remember having moderate acne. I don't know if it was from the pool though. Chlorine and the sun will most definitely lighten your hair though

Seems so, i had inflamed acne and shit last week on my skin , then i went to the pool one day, and it just disappeared at once the next day.
Fucking magic.

they're not even the largest known squid species. note that i said 'known' because we have no idea what else is down there.

chlorine dries you out, so if you're a greasy cunt like it might help. if you have normal skin you'll be going to crack city

And our generation will never know it.

>we're already about the leave the sun system but haven't even fully explored our own planet

I have oily skin, does that mean going to the pool is good for me?

>Greasy cunt
Fag, i take a shower every day

>Greasy cunt
Fag, i take a shower every day

Probably not in the long run because:

The more you degrease yourself the more your body tries to up the grease to prevent damage to the skin.

If you want to have perfect skin and body odour you have to stop using all products like soap, shampoo, hair product, lotion, deodorant et cetera and just soak in a warm bath once or twice a week, and only do quick lukewarm water rinses if you must shower in between. After a while the balance gets restored and you're beautiful.

Bodies take care of themselves once they're not fucked with and you eat clean. No processed foods and no dairy and no aggressive products to attack your skin microbiome.

Acne and such are diseases of civilisation.

>If you want to have perfect skin and body odour you have to stop using all products like soap, shampoo, hair product, lotion, deodorant et cetera and just soak in a warm bath once or twice a week
I can't do that with a job. I can't just not take care of myself anymore and leave the house and wait until my body recovers.

I stopped using all products (except toothpaste) early April and haven't noticed any negative effects in terms of being filthy, but I kept taking warm showers daily in the morning. Also I did get a buzzcut a few weeks in so that has probably helped, not having to go through the greasy locks phase.

Now I shower or bathe twice or thrice weekly and otherwise just wash the odorous zones with a wet rag in between if necessary so I smell fresh but don't expose the rest of my skin to daily hardships. If it wasn't for contemporary body odour conventions I would just take a hot bath once a week and have good skin.

My problem was dried out rashy skin rather than greasy skin though, but both are caused by the same vicious cycle I believe.

I think eating clean has made the most difference in body odour by the way. Whenever I let myself go for a day now and drink and eat filth I fucking reek the next day, that's when you really notice the difference.

>Now I shower or bathe twice or thrice weekly
So, sometimes you don't shower after a workout?

I go swimming in the river next to my city, opens into Lake Michigan. Strong currents are always pulling you so you can walk up a mile or two and just float down treading water, or swim against the current as much as you can, rest, then do it again. Tires me out, gets me a little less pale, is fun. I do it every day if I have time.

>tfw love to swim
>tfw born and live next to a huge lake and river

I would recommend at least trying it out.

Yes, feels good to go barbarian mode. Mostly in summer though, putting on a sweater when sweaty isn't nice but if you sit around in your wifebeater in the backyard all day it doesn't really matter.

Cardio is cardio, what matters is the resistance and time working out. Think of it as tiers.

Tier 1- running
>Low resistance
>Usually shorter time exercising

Tier 2- Swimming
>medium resistance
>Long as time exercising

I swam in high school practice was alwasy 2.5 hours long

Tier 3-Rowing
>High resistance
>Long time working out

tbqh senpai choose swimming. It's not torturous on the joints and that swimmer V is beautiful.

>higher resistance
>longer time exercising

That makes no sense.

>chlorine

>not having a salt water pool

B R E H

It weirds me out when I see that pool in non-pornographic TV

hey Veeky Forums i can technically swim fine but my form and technique is super sloppy so i can't reliably do laps comfortably

any recs on how to improve? should i be looking into books/adult classes?

I look like an autist when I try to swim, so i don't do it.

try and get yourself filmed, then compare to instructables on ytb

or get yourself a few sessions with competent(that's hard part) swimming coach

best is probably mixing two things, get a coach that will film you and explain your errors. BUT don't hire a coach to babysit you. 30min in water observation +filming ->explanation. then you go swim a few times without coach, incorporating hints. and then repeat if still needed.

for starters look up instructables if you never did before

wow, good eye, i didn't even notice that until you mentioned it
