Alright, I'm doing an extended and more detailed draft of this outline and I'm thinking of adding the July 20 plot as a plot device (pun intended).

Even if the plot was doomed to eventually fail, would it have had greater success in the event Hitler was knocked unconscious by the blast and incapacitated for an extended period of time (let's say 48 hours)?

The idea is that Hitler's incapacitation allows for the July 20 plotters to maintain control of the Reserve Army longer and the coup ends far more violently, with confused fighting breaking out all over Nazi Germany between the Wehrmacht and SS that takes several days to stop.
