Protestantism encourages a feel good chritianity in which our works on this earth are irrelevant, the protestant idea that a criminal can repent on his deathbed and be absolved of all sins is immoral.

That verse is saying that works are evidence of faith, the cause of salvation, not that works cause salvation

No it's not it's pretty much what Constantine did and while Catholics don't consider him immoral Protestants on the other hand are more apt to do so.
I don't see salvation as necessarily being implied to be a long process like Buddhist enlightenment rather the sacraments require continual administration for the duration of one's life on the earth as a Christian. The rest is dependent on the individual, their sincerity, and their faith.

Seems like a decent option for me desu, I'm having a little fund I'm planning to spend once I grow old to ensure I become forgiven and go to heaven.
