How do I train to win?
Any specific programs/guidelines for max pushup #s?
Start now, focus on consecutive quantity while maintaining good form. Do 10 concentrated speed sets at a time to failure and four slow sets proceeding. Only take one rest day a week. Also focus on planks and tricep concentric exercises, don't worry about the eccentric movement as much, treat it like a plyometric exercise, fall fast and spring back up. Some high intensity cardio will also be helpfull.
Find your most efficient form (usually your elbows will be 45-60 degrees from your body) to engage all of the relevant muscle groups. If you can, try to eat a 200 calorie surplus leading up to the contest.

Adding to this, make sure you get a lot of carbs, one or twos bananas and a cup of strong coffee in you before you compete, a bit of water wouldn't hurt either. Look up advice for diet for endurance sports.
