Is 13mm necessary if you 3pl8 squat and 4pl8 dl or would a 10mm be a more comfy transition into lifting with a belt?

Get a 13mm, 10mm are for cuckolds

13mm would be ideal, the thicker, the stiffer and the harder the better, the same goes for buying belts.

I could probably do more of them ya... I only have the thinnest/lightest band available right now, is that enough or do I need serious resistance?

I also have the feeling it's not a rotator cuff issue? All the diagnostic tests I find online I can do pain free, the only ones that cause any discomfort are the impingement tests, even then it's minimal. The only actual painful lift is bench, during the bottom 3rd of the eccentric movement I get a grinding sensation kind of near the end of my collar bone. Makes strength and confidence off the chest almost zero. Benching close grip doesn't do much to reduce the grinding feel.

I'm not an expert on shoulder injuries, I know a lot more about spine health though.

From what limited experience I've had with shoulder pain, I used like a 35lbs resistance band to do band pullaparts. I just kept doing them until the pain went away and never came back.

Take the small resistance band and fold it to double the resistance

How close we talking? Because shits difficult to do, especially if you lack the external rotation ability. Took Isley a couple months to get his grip as narrow as it is. Thumb under or thumb over?

I don't know why exactly, but I have a very close thumbless grip when low bar squatting and I have no pressure on my wrists at all and I don't use wraps.

I find that pinkies in the first ring is about the farthest out you should go for upper back tightness, and you very much can grip it pain free with a thumb less grip.

Ideally you want your elbows as down as possible so having a close thumbless grip may make the bar slide down.

Honestly high bar IMO is superior in terms of simplicity and longevity

I did some CGBP and wrecked my shoulder and elbow for some reason, didn't diagnose it or anything, just did my rehab and it went away.

That's why, ya dingus. Thumbless grip has never given me any wrist issues, and it shouldn't for most people. Only time I've had wrist discomfort was from using thumbs under.

Mark rippetoes skull crusher variation has never caused me any grief, but I've heard it can cause shoulder grief, I do retract my shoulders however.

JM Press was a bitch tho, but the pump was unreal. They're worth doing very infrequently.

I'm not. Just saying CT isn't going to help a lot of the time. It's extremely restrictive in the scope of what it can detect. You can see minor stuff, like AC separation (although depending on the severity, maybe not even) and broken bones, but there won't be any tendons visible, no muscle, among other, angle dependent things. MRI would be his best bet, but they'll probably do both.
