99% of White and Red army looked like WW1 russian infantry with some aditional stuff and civilian parts of the uniform, only Officer regiments (there were like 5 of them) and elite Red units dressed like this.

armies taking part in that civil war were like bucket with a lot of holes - they draft a lot of peoples and a lot of them run away after first battle, there was literally no way to have them all wear standard uniforms

Honorguard and parade uniforms is historic design. Combat uniforms is utilitarian design. Military isn't a fashion contest with designer clothes.
