hey I haven't been on Veeky Forums in so long but I need halp. I've been lifting for around 2 years now and squats and deads never bothered my knees, but recently I've been getting knee pain whenever I squat or deadlift.

What's the best way to overcome having longish arms in the bench without hurting my shoulders? I'm 6' and have 31" arms, 79" wingspan, it feels like I have to move the bar diagonally and touch the bar near to the bottom of my sternum to get my forearms perpendicular to the floor.

You should be moving the bar diagonally. Vertical descent is bad form.

I thought it was suppose to be more of a j-shape? I don't do a vertical descent, but it feels so awkward at the bottom of the lift, like, my bar path on the descent is at nearly a 45 degree angle to the bench. I guess I can try a wider grip and arching more.

basically I want to do texas method to increase my squat since I feel like it's lagging behind a bit. I looked at the program and I think I will like it. However I'm already doing greg nuckol's 3x/week bench program and its working amazing right now so I want to keep doing that for bench. I tried mixing texas method and nuckol's bench program.

Any critique/advice/tips appreciated. Also anyone done texas method and how were your results for squats?
