In the Magherb and Levant, most can. On American TV Italians can play Arabs and vice versa (e.g. Tony Shalhoulb on Wings) and nobody seems to notice or care.

The vast majority of Israelis, Lebanese, Turks, and coastal Syrians would not look out of place in Campania or Laconia. Egyptians, Iraqis, and peninsular+Gulf Arabs are a different story.

Actually an Amerimutt of Sicilian, southern French, and Portuguese descent who also happens to be light-skinned with green eyes and dirty blonde hair.
