I’m really interested in somalia and it’s history and how it got to where it is now and why their civil war began

A hundred years later a major conventional war would commence during the Conquest of Abyssinia pitching the Kingdom of Adal allied by the Ottoman Empire against the Solomonic Dynasty supported by the Portuguese Empire. The conflict is the earliest example of cannon and matchlock warfare on the continent.

Didn’t their country have the storngest military and highest economy in the continent back then when they were communist only to end up invading Ethiopia and forced to join capitalism and ask the USA for help and end up fighting Cubans and Russians

The fought the Portuguese several times in naval warfare and in land and beat the shit out of them and freed some ports cities in Kenya and others with the help of that ottomans

The Portuguese did fail a lot of times trying to gain control over the Somalis but they always fail they even had a navy battle and ended loosing the battle and another one in ethopia were Vasco Da Gama’s son died when the Portuguese and Ethiopians were fighting the Somalis and ottomans
