My fitness pal is a good app to count your calories, I found that the best way for me was to eat slowly and drink water or green tea throughout my meal. I switched from energy drinks to green and black tea. I fill up my gallon jug and steep the tea every morning and drink it throughout the day. This way I'm still getting caffeine but I'm not getting all the extra bs. Black coffee is also good. Start making your own meals, cut down on bread intake try to eat brown rice when you want carbs. If you can use a stove seasoned steamed kale tastes good. I like spicy food so alot of times I make jerked chicken or fish for the week. Keep your protein intake high and your carbs low. Start exercising slowly don't rush in. Even if it just means taking the steps at work, or walking around the block. Small steps first or you will never stick with it. I went from 350 down to 260 currently didn't really have any loose skin since I lost the weight steadily and have a large frame. All of these things are easy to do, the hard part is the mental anguish from attempting to to change your lifestyle and not eating constantly, any former fatty would understand this. You need to keep your goals in mind when you want to relapse and realize that this is about improving yourself and enjoying your life the way you want to, it's about not being limited due to your size, and being happy with your body. For me my moment of clarity was when I saw two guys from highschool both of whom were close to 500 pounds down in the low 200's from diet and exercise. It was hard for me to see people that had always been heavier then me now much lighter. Don't get me wrong I was happy for them but I knew I had to change.

I honestly try to treat it like Im an alcoholic in recovery. Don't get me wrong you can still eat your favorite foods just in moderation and not every day.

Don't eat idly. If you're bored, you need to pinpoint that and find something to distract you from the desire to eat when you're not actually hungry. All my life, if I was bored I'd basically just go find something to snack on. Eat to sate your hunger. Don't ever get fucking seconds. You'd be amazed how little food it actually takes to sate your hunger. Drink 16oz/500ml of water before every meal.
