Russian here. Our commie government officially stated that this doesn't mean that btc is legal. Also AMA.

is cold?

Eristoff or absolut wodka senpai?

Why do russkies worship communism and don't realise that it was the worst thing that happend to you poor fucks and that's the reason you're all poor?

>Why do russkies worship communism

What percentile of men are you in if you are in your 20s, not a complete drunk, and have all your teeth?

What are you even imblying?

What is the government's "official" stance on bitcoin. And are they deliberately being vague and putting it in a grey area legally?

Will shit coins be considered the same way as bitcoin, or will ICOs be treated oh I don't know, as ponzi schemes?

Are their capital controls in Russia now, how will that affect crypto?

Don't drink

Because communism and democratic socialism is like brain syphilis. You cant cure it

Would you say that all Russian wallets are cold wallets?

Is this brain syphilis hereditary or can we expect russia to improve with older generations dying out?

There is no official stance per se. Head of Central Bank is delusional womyn and will probably become next prime minister and fuck up crypto. Head of the biggest bank -SberBank- is educating Putin about blockchain. ICOs are not regulated right now, but if you'll try to issue crypto you'll probably be in jail.
This summer I cashed out a significant chunk of my crypto portfolio and our version of IRS fucked me really hard. Right now I can't say anything definitive but I assume there will be a lot of stupid regulations.

>What is the government's "official" stance on bitcoin.
The Russian government is run by boomers who don't understand what a Bitcoin or crypto-currency is. They think it is some elaborate pyramid scheme and that government must take control of it, not understanding that the purpose of the technology is to not be restrictable. Some minister recently proposed that government must be in charge of all cryptocurrency emission ...

They are literally clueless.

t. other Russian

>This summer I cashed out a significant chunk of my crypto portfolio and our version of IRS fucked me really hard.
Can you elaboorate? I need to know about this Did they want you to declare the source of the income?

Its getting worse every year. I think we will go full communism again in like 20 years. They are raising existing taxes and creating new ones. Destroying private property. Creating new absurd regulations and basically if you have a small-ish business you are fucked

You arent russian

Not just the source.
Posting from work. Will tell the whole story later.

Another ruskie here. Government is aware of Bitcoin and want to regulate and restrict access to exchange sites for everyone, like they try with anonymizers and hentai sites. Normies, who have heard about bitcoin, think that this is a new MMM (classic pyramid scheme), they have no idea about blockchain technology and what it can bring. Situation may resolve just like with MMM: government arrests the company's holdings and accounts, and investors lose everything. But the catch here that you can't "arrest" the blockchain, only restrict access to it.
TL;DR: Russia wants to "protect" its people from Bitcoin fever and restrict everything and even detain some holders in Gulags. Like usual.

I cashed out 10 btc to help my family (need to cover my parent's medical expenses and to deal with other stuff). I transferred them to my main debit card (SberBank) and everything was nice until I started to pay for stuff. I got a call from my personal bank manager she said that I MUST go see her like immediately. She was waiting for me with the head of that particular branch. They said to me that they've received an order from our Tax bureau to block all my accounts.
I'll tell the rest later.

When I asked them why they said you know why. I felt like I'm sitting is some kgb office and they are going to drill my healthy teeth with dental drill.
I'm a lawyer specializing in private international law (corporations and investments specifically). And thank GOD I'm a lawyer. I asked them to calm down and tell me what exactly did Tax bureau say to them.
-You cashed out btc.
-So what?
-Thats illegal.
-State me the article.
-You think you are a hotshit? If you were not a vip client we would already block all your accounts.
-Show me the order.
-No.
bla bla bla the next day they block everything. And I received a call from tax bureau.
-Hey user, you need to come in for interrogation.
(Yes our bureau sometimes interrogates people even though they have no right to do it).
Final later.

I'm lurking here for the rest.

I can imagine if you weren't a lawyer - instant squat on a bottle.

It's not a real crypto since it's not decentralized.

Sorry for the wait my friend. Here is the rest.
If you don't want to be interrogated you can pay approx. 20$ fine and tell them to go fuck themselves. Unfortunately I had no luxury to do so. I had some cases with tax bureau in my early years of practice so I knew exactly what I should do.
-Good day user. Sit, let's have a talk.
-Are you going to state me my rights? Where is the protocol?
-What protocol?
-According to your internal regulations you have to keep track of everything we are talking about right now.
----They bring and fill out the form----
-So, are you satisfied?
-I still don't know my rights.
-Reads me my rights.
---I purposely taunt commissioner for some time in order to get a psychological advantage--- Than I said this:
-You do understand that if you won't release my funds I will end you. I'll bring you to court and the whole world will know that crypto is illegal in Russia. Imagine the blow you'll deliver to our government's reputation. Bla bla bla
-Go, will call you later.
Few days later my accounts were unfrozen BUT!!! they took 18% of the sum I cashed out.

Moral of the story. They know everything about you. They know exactly how much you have in crypto, how much you cashed out and so on. There will be a manhunt. It'll be quiet, you won't here about it anywhere.

I'll be lurking in this thread in case somebody wants some clarifications or to answer other questions.

What about the Russian Miner Coin, it seems they want to have a slice and one of the leaders is close to Putin. They just wanted some western capital and the whole thing is a scam?

One of the people who are involved in this is Dmitry Marinichev. He is sort of a crypto evangelist in Russia and Putin's advisor on the issues regarding the internet. Don't believe anything this fuckwits tell you. Russia will put a facade of liberty and btc heaven, but every project will be backed by the government and general population won't be allowed to even think about btc.

>Like with hentai sites
Lul wut, why does the gov have to do with hentai sites?

They said they must protect children. As if children have no parents to protect them. We have an outrageous amount of legislation on this issue. Government wants to control our children and general populace that's why every teacher is a commie, moral relativist and legal positivist.

You will lol even more. Any character can deemed to be underage if special committee says so, regardless of the actual character age. For example: Evangelion MAY be considered lolicon if the committee considers Misato underage, based on her facial structure. Even if she is like 24. And porn where 30-years-old slut is dressed in school uniform is considered CP and is banned.

Just looked it up. The core of the issue seems to "setting examples" to do this in real life. Same age old debate as shooting people in videogames. (Which bears no relationship by the way.)

Child porn is banned because children are involved, however immoral one might find drawn child porn. It does not harm children and as such is not criminal.

The only way you could frame this is shaming people and "encouraging to try this in real life mentality"

Either way a load of horseshit.

Not really, dude clearly tried to avoid taxes, just declare yourself "ИП" and pay 6%, easy fucking breasy.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Our ass-backwards legal system gives judges an unlimited discretion when dealing with the issue. So basicly they can ban anything they want.

lost 3 teeth, alcoholic by night, in my 20s

Easier said than done. According to one of the countless Executive Orders banks have an unlimited discretion in checking and blocking ever transaction made by the entrepreneurs if they find the operation 'shady'.

I can state a fuckton of other problems it'll bring.

ok, open a bank account in Cyprus and enjoy your freedom.

Been there done that. Transaction like this will put you in a category of "foreign agent". That's even worse.

Can i get a link on that?

Read this and every other executive order base.garant.ru/70204242/ and base.garant.ru/12133556/

This is just basics. You can't even imagine whats really going on.
