Be small guy

>be small guy
>lift for three years
>stats aren't very impressive but they're okay
>focus on diet every day to try and make as much of it as possible
>two friends start lifting
>they dont give a single fuck about diet and just go to the gym and lift weights and absolutely shatter my stats in less than 6 months

what's the fucking point. I failed. I lost. Might as well just kill myself

Some people just are like that but why would you care? You're lifting for your self not for them. Maybe you should switch training routines and start experimenting with reps and weights. You're still gonna make it brah

thank you user

You're welcome bruv

What are your stats? Bodyweight and height included.

>what are genetics
>i dont know
My friend is 3" shorter than me, has an exponentially cleaner diet, and works out three days a week more than i do. He's also been lifting for a decade. The shitkicker? I'm leaner and stronger than he is by just doing IIFYM.

He puts on fat SUPER easily. I think he has low t, and im sure the daily drinking doesnt help.

Oh boy do I ever know this feel, OP.

Genetics really is everything.

>mfw I hit 3pl8 diddy after 2 months while my friend who has trained for 3 years was stuck at the same at the time
>mfw I squatted 2pl8 ass to grass after squatting 3 times
>mfw my bench is stuck at lmao 1pl8 after 8 months of lifting

So yeah, not everyone is the same, I'm a cyclist so I'm pretty strong at the legs, but my upper body is non-existent.

Know that feel all too well.

>started as skelly, started lifting 2 years ago
>gave up drinking and smoking
>pay alot of attention to what i eat, always track calories and macros
>go to gym at least 4 times a week, even if im exhausted
>made quite a bit of strenght and muscle gains

Then 2 of my friends started lifting, they always drink alot, dont give a fuck what they eat, and they casually go to the gym maybe 2 times a week just "for fun". They are already bigger and stronger than me

Honestly this shit makes me want to consider roiding more than anything. Being held back by genetics is so fucking unfair

I've been liftan for 4 years. One of my friends from work comes and is close to my lifts in three months.

Is a hard pill to shallow, but well skelly people start from really below and fat people usually have more muscle due to eating enough during his life and training carrying their bodies.

Also genetics/being a hardgainer matters. You will never be a elite lifter (like me) but you will be able to have a nice body even if it cost you twice as a standard human being

Keep going. Retards here will tell you that the problem is your routine.

>cleaner diet
>drinking every single day

>skele
>not eating whatever the fuck you want because LOLBULK
If you're under 200lb, it's your fault.

Op read this:
strengtheory.com/what-it-takes-to-break-world-records/
The vast majority of people are oblivious to what role genetics play. The don't want to think about it because successful people like the thought that they achieved everything on their own.
That's why Dan Bilzerian still claims that his 100 million dollar net worth comes from playing poker and that his daddy's money has nothing to do with it.
Or why ripped dudes who party all night at least once a week and eat pizza and drink Monster every day tell guys who don't respond as well to weight training as them that obviously their diet isn't perfect and that if they only sleep an hour more a night they'll surely make more gains.

But here's the even bitterer pill to swallow: if you stop lifting because of this, then you'll look even shittier than you do now and you'll be even weaker and you'll hate yourself even more.

Self improvement isn't a competition with anyone but yourself. If you have improved then you're a better person. Period.

This is a good explanation.

Real sensible advice.

Listen to these two OP.

Ive been steadily eating 300-500 kcal over my maintenance since forever. I prefer not to look like a skinnyfat tyvm. My natural leanness is the only thing I have going for me

300cal+ isnt going to get you skinnyfat.

I dont give a fuck what you say, Im not gonna fall for the "LOL YOU SHOULD JUST EAT EVERYTHING YOU WANT AND YOULL MAGICALLY LOOK BETTER" meme

Read
Youre exactly the type of person he describes

You need to eat more to make muscle, inbred retard. Of course genetics play a part in how much muscle you might make. Anyways suit yourself, stay at 140lb skeleton and whine.

yeah i was also worrying about being lean when i was a dyel

now i just permabulk and outlift every one at the gym. i dont care about being lean anymore, and keep bodyfat at about 20% eating whatever i want.

i was tired of being small and weak, fuck being lean, i scored hotter women on 20% bf than what i did at 10, and now people call me big guy (for them)

i feel happier now too

>be indoor 4chins nerd entire life
>spend 3 years going to the gym
>why are normies more athletic than me?

Here's a bitter pill to swallow so lets cram in the whole Veeky Forums nerd tries to become chad combo all at once.

Most things are easier to get good at if you start younger. For example, fitness, social skills, math, science, and writing, even leadership qualities start appearing early on the playground and get practiced.

Most people started these young. That's not even playing the genetic card. Most people here are in their 20's. At the tail end of the sweet gains, gains in almost all categories, that could have been much stronger if they had started.

There is good new though. You might not be able to get to the elite levels but you can probably get to 7/10, 8/10 in most of life's core "stats" by doing your due diligence googling it and working hard at it.

you're still better than you were bruh. lifting is only competitive if you compete, if you're doing it for self improvement then you're already winning every day you go

also if they're bigger and heavier than you they're bound to get stronger in terms of real numbers, that's why weight classes exist. you may well have much better relative numbers though

Honestly, it all comes down to testosterone levels and the type of food intake your body gets.

You know what steroids do? Pumps testosterone in your body. You wanna know how to increase testosterone? Eat eggs, the cholesterol is essential for your body to make testosterone. And watch a lot of porn. Because your brain sends signals to your testes which uses the cholesterol to make testosterone. The more sexual drive, the more signals you're producing. That is also how you keep your testosterone levels in check.

That may or may not be bro-science, but heres the more scientifically proven and critical part; eat a lot of carbs and protein. Doesn't matter if you get most of it from shitty foods or not, REMEMBER; dirty bulking works just as well as a clean diet. You just have to not forget to put in a lot of work at the gym to accommodate for the shit you eat. The bigger your muscles get, the more food you can eat and not get fat since it'll just be fueling the muscles.

If you started as a lanklet and say were 5'11 and 130lbs like me, then you cant be eating the same amount of foods as you were at that time. You will NEVER EVER EVER, EVER grow that way. Nor can you maintain like that. You have to eat like a person who is 5'11 and 220lbs of fat.

Main important thing is carbs and proteins for gaining mass. Second most important think is micro fibers being tore in the muscle. Cant grow without it. Third is a good rest, thats when most of the muscles repair.

You probably dont go hard enough at the gym. You think you are, but you're really not. Not properly tearing your muscles=no growth. That or your diet. Im willing to bet it might be a bit of both.

Drinking does that to you. The easiest way to gain fat is to drink beer.

Im a skeleton myself and to all the people saying you should just eat everything u can and basically just dirty bulk as skeleton I have a question:

What about general health? I tried dirty bulking, tried eating everything I could, which included alot of shitty food that were high in calories. But it made me look shit, and feel like shit. Eating alot of sugary and fatty foods made my skin look bad, gave me acne breakouts on my face and back, and it made me feel bloated, low on energy and nauseous. But if I want to bulk up heavy on healthy food I have to cook like 5 meals a day.

So I dont know, I dont feel like sacrificing clear skin and feeling good throughout the day just to gain weight

Eating 300-500 calories more than you normally do doesn't mean eating 5 burgers a day. It means maybe 1 more protein shake or a large glass of milk.

Yeah but people say 300-500 over maintenance isnt enough if youre skelly

500 over your tdee is about 1lb/gain per week. Maybe you can get away with more as a very very malnurished /v/irgin who's never seen the sun and has a shit ton of new gains to get, but most people will just add on fat instead of more muscle at that point.

>mfw literally the same
>mfw my test is 300mg/dl
>mfw I hopped on roids because doc said
>but the range is 250-1200, you are fine user
>mfw my life is hundreds time better now

check your test and go on a self made HTRT. Its a must for a man physical and mental health.

Man stop trying to convince me to roid, that is exactly the reason why Im seriously considering it

Are you me?

you wont regret it user

depression, low confidence, low energy, no motivation, no creativity, no memory, sleeping for 12 hours a day - it all went away with a little testosterone.

I think everybody should get a test check when they enter maturity and if they are under 1000mg/dl then they get onto htrt... It would make white civilization great again

>300mg/dl
>mg/dl

another case of a "hard gainer" who didn't actually eat and/or got scared of the weights because they got heavy.

You disregard health when you are working out for aesthetics.
Yea dirty bulking isnt exactly great if you want to have high energy levels and be pumped. The amount of sugar will put you in a low energy cycle and you will feel like shit, and lift like shit. Bodybuilders dont usually dirty bulk because they dislike that kind of food taste-wise. After a while of not having an insane sugar intake, your body adapts and even the slightest bit of sugar feels like it's too much and disgusting. So unconsciously, you'll be eating healthier even when you think you're dirty bulking.

If you are a 300lb guy who has been eating sweets all his life, it is near impossible to go back to eating normal foods. Thats why they go back to being 300lb since they cant go without their snicker bar, soda, or chocolate. Very addictive and poison lifestyle.

Granted, if they changed their diet to just eating eggs, brown rice, fish, skim milk, protein powder, they would make a lot more progress faster than someone who is 130lb trying to get 190lb.

If you're a small guy and you're worrying about diet you're doing it wrong. Only count your calories to make sure you're eating enough, get enough protein and bulk up son.

If you've been lifting for 3 years and newbies are out lifting you after 6 months you're not pushing yourself or half assing it.

I'd start fresh on a 5x5 progressive load and actually fucking do it. Raise those weights every lift and yes it's going to suck and it will be hard but just fucking do it man even if you can only get 2-3 reps sometimes. Since you have previous lifting experience you can probably just do 5x5 for 3-4 months to get your lifts back up and then switch to a push/pull for aesthetics.

That's the saddest thing I've ever heard

It's not the routine. It's the people doing the routine.

Just be Chad, man.

C'MON!

> low on energy
I'd go easy on the guac if I were you.

So how do you watch a lot of porn? Dont you have anhthing else to do?

I was worried because some normie started to get some good gains after little time and I felt threatened (small town, I'm biggest guy this age around here) and started working out seriously, turns out I was doing stuff half assedly so it was a good happening

i have to believe it's my routine, othewise im going to kill myself.

Here's another idea: perhaps they have greater pain tolerance, which has a genetic factor but probably more to do with previous life experiences.

Pain tolerance can be developed and then you'll push yourself harder.

That'll just lead to a higher chance of injury, which impairs progress...

That's an exaggeration. You may have lower than average pain tolerance unrelated to the point at which you'd suffer injuries. Getting stronger psychologically might help with that, you don't need to go so far as to destroy yourself.

>be ugly
>everyone will just think I'm compensating
We all have our problems matey

Tbh I'd rather compensate my shortcomings than accept the consequences of doing nothing. People who sneer at that are trying to keep you down.

What program are you on?

Upper/lower routine with focus on compounds. So 4 times a week I hit every big lift twice

everyone gains differently, stop being a baby back bitch and appreciate what you have/can do

youtube.com/watch?v=FgLISpdSauE

People just don't generally have such a low pain tolerance that they fail lifts because of it.
If people don't try hard enough, it's because they just don't give it their all, not because they in such excruciating pain.

I think that people even go too far on average, judging by the amount of injuries people get without noticing how badly their fucking up their lifts.

that's me and my brother. The guy doesn't even have a real routine

Depressives have lower pain tolerance than the rest of the population. It's not that their bodies are weaker, they're psychologically averse to physical discomfort to a greater degree than others - it's not necessary for them to feel excruciating pain to be dissuaded, nor even to approach their healthy limits.

That's just one example.

Yeah, sure, but I wouldn't ascribe that to their pain tolerance, but rather to a physological aversion or discomfort.
E.g. "don't be such a pussy and try harder".

Seems weird to me to call it a pain tolerance issue.

It's not. Pain threshold is the term used in the literature. And for good reason, it's not the intensity that is at stake, but how you deal (tolerate) with it.

Just because that term is used in literature, doesn't mean it's used in casual talk, or that it best describes the situation for people not in the field.

Anyway, aren't those people just being pussies then?

It's not just a term, it's a concept.

The important question here is how to improve performance. Increasing pain tolerance with psychological techniques (like meditation) can do that. I don't give a fuck if people with lower tolerance are called pussies or not.

Wow it seems almost like being autistic with your diet impedes your ability to move more weight!

Go make another thread about turning down dessert in a social function while claiming you're going to make it.

Eat big to get big isn't just a meme

No, I meant it like "aren't those people just being pussies then? shouldn't you just tell them they're being pussies and tell them to try HARDER, to go for that extra rep etc" ?

Use the whole toolkit. People pushing themselves hard improve when others give them even more motivation. People who have both and meditate can do better. Diet is another factor, as is the baseline humor of the people around you.

"Don't be a pussy" by itself is not very effective, it can backfire if the person has low self-confidence (they may give up completely), which is probably the case if your pain tolerance is too fucked. Everyone's starting point is outside of their control, like genetics and upbringing.

Gotta go now, but thanks for the discussion. I think it may help some people.

Thanks to you too.
