Well it’s not even guaranteed that XLM price would go up, even if it would end up being DIRECTLY used to purchase IBM products; only if said products were so "cheap" that XLM appreciated via arbitrage. However, it seems more likely that prices will be dynamically calculated from underlying dollar prices or similar.

On the other hand, this means that the whole thing isn’t so much about Lumens backing IBM chain in the long run, or not. It’s about the credibility boost that XLM tech gets via this real world use.

or lets say after the hyperledger is up and running, IBM buys their partnership outright, and just renames the coin. For a multi-billion dollar company, buying a ~700 million dollar market cap is a drop in the bucket. Compared to engineering something of this magnitude in house.
