I'm kind of looking forward to the future to be honest. Sure, there will be suffering, but humans have been perfectly fine surviving with far more suffering than we have right now for tens of thousands of years. The important things in life though, they won't only survive, but they'll make a return and become prominent in our lives once more. It's like God himself is setting us back a few paces so we don't fuck it all up and ruin everything.

It's only bad if we can't keep up. The Northwest passage is becoming more and more viable each year. The Arctic will be the next scramble for Africa this century and Antarctica the next. The map will change and the wheel of history will keep spinning. It'll be even funnier when Republican deniers are faced with Florida being underwater or Kansas becoming a desert.
He's completely right. The Soviet Union had money and markets. They had an insulated economy with their satellite states that were semi independent. The Soviet Union's economy collapsed when they hit peak oil 1988 and started to charge their puppet states western prices for oil. When it was basically free or cheap to them before. It's how North Korea became a famine ridden shithole. They were realying on cheap oil for industrial farming. Cuba was smart and dismantled it all and gave power back to independent farmers. North Korea was more concerned about maintaining power and diverted their remaining oil to maintaining the military. If they had an endless supply of cheap oil the Soviet Bloc would be around today. Putin was able to restore Russian power recently by using technology to restore oil production to historic levels allowing them to oppose the America empire on the world stage again.
Personally I'm looking forward to the atmosphere turning yellow and mildly poisonous, and all marine life dying.

You do realize that strict border controls will be implemented eventually right? Nobody in their right mind is going to let hundreds of millions of blacks migrate into their countries. Russia's economy is smaller than Italy's a volcanic peninsula with very little oil. Oil isn't as big a part of the economy as you think it is. It is like sex, it is nice and some people obsess over it but you can do fine without it.

We are democracies. In a few years, the majority of Americans will be from the starving countries and will side with their countries rather than their host country. It will be the same in Europe in a few decades, so probably before it start.
Not to mention how much the flood of refugees will change American demographics and politics. America will almost certainly become more economically leftist and far more socially right-wing as a result of it all.
