How exactly did the Soviet Economy work?

How exactly did the Soviet Economy work?

It didn't

>GDP growth until the 1980s
>Not working

...

>capitalist worship gdp to the point of saying gdp is more important than race, creed, ethnicity and nationality
>but using gdp to demonstrate other systems can produce economic success is bad

He asked about the economy not the society you fucking meme spouter

They changed economic models several times. In chronological order:

1. "War Communism" - literally worse than Juche, they tried to get rid of all money and
2. "New Economic Policy" - similar to what China does today, a very capitalistic version of 'communism'
3. Stalin reverted the economy to more of a compromise model which Khrushchev kept.
4. Under Brezhnev, there were several reforms. The 1965 reform moved the economy considerably towards capitalism, but not to the extent of the New Economic Policy. The subsequent reform 1973 reversed this, then the 1979 reform partially reverted back.
5. Perestroika was the last major economic reform which moved the economy back towards capitalism.

>tu quoque
>muh 100 gorillion

They were all capitalist roaders and bourgeoisie elements anyways. You cant make utopia without a few labour camps.

They were taking everything from other countries in the block. SU was like a parasite.

>Poland suffered catastrophic damage to its infrastructure during the war, which caused it to lag even further behind the West in its industrial output.[11] The losses in national resources and infrastructure amounted to over 30% of the pre-war potential.[11] Poland's capital of Warsaw was among the most devastated cities – over 80 percent destroyed in the aftermath of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944.[12] Nonetheless, resulting from forced migration, there was a rapid increase in population to 23.9 million shown in the first post-war census of 14 February 1946.[13] The Polish state acquired more highly developed western territories and lost the more economically backward eastern regions. Already in 1948 the prewar level of industrial production was exceeded in global and per capita terms during the first Three-Year Plan (Plan Trzyletni) fueled by the collective desire to rebuild shattered lives.[14]

>After the Soviet annexation of the Kresy territories east of the Curzon line, about 2 million Poles were "repatriated" (moved or were transferred or expelled) from these areas into the new western and northern territories east of the Oder-Neisse line,[20][21]

> In 1947 Soviet pressure caused the Polish government to reject the American-sponsored Marshall Plan,[16] and to join the Soviet Union-dominated Comecon in 1949.[17] The Soviet forces present engaged in plunder of the former eastern territories of Germany which were being transferred to Poland, stripping it of valuable industrial equipment, infrastructure and factories and sending them to the Soviet Union.[18][19]

>importing polish coal from mines in silesia for free for 40 years
>importing meat from poland for free while the polish starved
>"""""rebuilding"""""""

>systematically execute 60million people

LOOK GUISE OUR GDP PER CAPITA WENT UP LOL COMMUNISM WORKS!

>look at me I'm braindead poltard who came to Veeky Forums

It didn't work and artificially existed for 70 years because of it's huge oil and gas deposits.

If the country was founded 100 years earlier, it would've died in 20 years, or been forced to change its system to a market economy.

>systematically execute billions of people

LOOK GUISE OUR GDP PER CAPITA WENT UP LOL (any economic system) WORKS!

>The USSR was responsible for the German War for Autism

Other than that you have a point though. They plundered Poland even more rapaciously than under that tsars.

Not only Poland honestly. Poland is only here as example, not because of "muh woe poland and polacks"

I bet people from other countries under Warsaw Pact have even more to say about SU.

>leftypol getting triggered at their shitty excuses for their failed system work on no one at all
lol

They allied and supplied Germany

ooga booga, user big man for tribe, he strong warrior!

Unlike western economies, where a small circle of bankers and ceos of global corporations steer the economy, it was steered by a small circle of beaurocrats. It eventually collapsed because they didn't have the money to modernize the infrastructures, since they were spending 18% of their GDP on their military.

So what really killed them was the decision to have both, a large nuclear arsenal (>10k atomic bombs, more than the US) and a large conventional army (>30k tanks, way more than all the NATO countries combined). Had they gone only for one option, they would have had enough money to invest into the civil economy and would have survived their economic crisis.

Massive export-orientated economy that left the commoners with little, with a black market economy tolerated by the ruling elite in order to stave off a famine.

>I bet people from other countries under Warsaw Pact have even more to say about SU.

Nah, Pollacks got the worst.

Just imagine how the american economy would look like if the US was spending 3 trillion every year instead of 700 billion on military.

Khrushchev at least was aware of thid, but he was never quite able to overrule the generals and upper party people who wanted to maintain a strong army anyway for bullying their satellite states and generally projecting force. They weren't exactly wrong to see it that way, but all they ended up doing in the end was biting off more than they can chew.

We had it the same in Czechoslovakia.
>koruna/ruble exchange rate fixed by Moscow
>Moscow prevents you from trading with the west and forces you to buy Soviet trash for above market value
>while also forcing you to overmine uranium you can only sell to the USSR for below market value
Countless examples like this. COMECON was a rigged system designed to benefit the Soviets and even with that shit in place they were still unable to get ahead.

> soviet
> economy

>Allow Poland and Czechoslovakia to sell weapons all over the world
>Up until the 1990s "Made in Czechoslovakia" wasn't even that uncommon in Europe
>WE COULDN'T TRADE WIT NOBODY
Can you two not make up bullshit?

>all over the world
Ackchually only to socialist countries, especially various Arab and nigger shitholes that were too poor to afford the heavy weaponry so we were forced to sell it to them for nothing, and state had to subsidize the factories to offset the deficit generating tons of debt.
Good example would be Saddam's Iraq which was taking those shitty Russian T-72s we produced basically for free. This also stunted innovation considerably. Communism was a retarded system.

Wouldn't mass executions have a negative effect on GDP per capita since those are all people who are no longer exchanging or producing goods?

Oh hey, I have that issue of National Geographic sitting in my study!

Epic meme XDDDDD
60 million weren't systematically executed. That number seems like utter bullshit.
