Fit, how do ya'll make your money to pay for things like a gym pass and whey protein? I recently got my 2nd job, this one at a local grocery store and I absolutely HATE it. Every minute of my shift is spent contemplating if life is really worth it when I wast 1/3+ of my day doing something so awful. Anyone have a job they'd recommend?

gay4pay? you just have to show off your body, jack off to some porn while pretending to be gay

Get into a trade. I started out doing carpentry and that's a big deal of why I got interested in Veeky Forums
I saw my unconditioned body get newb gains from lifting lumber and wanted to push it further. I make enough money to eat and live humbly, with a good gym membership, and enough to make the bills.

Accept the fact that work is called WORK for a reason. It isn't usually fun or enjoyable, and there is always something else that you'd rather be doing than working. You've been sold a bullshit piece of advice that your work should be fun and fulfilling, but in reality your work should be useful to society and in order to achieve that you may need to sacrifice your feelings for a major portion of your day.

Retail is shit brah. I can't imagine much worse. It's so understimulating. I'm a software dev. I spend a good chunk of the day browsing the internet.

This is... a thing?

What's it take to get into carpentry? I used to be really into woodworking as a kid but never really thought of it as more than a hobby.

My previous job which I held for 3 years was a position where I biked around a major city for a living. Extremely fun and enjoyable. It can be done.

Currently trying to put myself through college. Doubt I'd have a shot at decent tech job right now :/

>2017
>not living with your parents and have them pay for everything

Oh ya, I bet that job had you rolling in cash...

I wouldn't take a job that wouldn't be fun and fulfilling...

My gym is $10 a month. Surprisingly not aids covered. I also work at a GNC store so discounts up the asshole. Life is good.

Save enough money to get your class 1 drivers license (semi-truck license) and apply at some construction place. My company is hiring plebs with class1 @ 26/hour.

Paid all the bills and I loved doing it. Wasn't loaded by any means but I lived just fine.

Working at GNC sounds like a dream job IMO. How is it actually?

Bumping from desperation.

Go get into security, something like corporate security will pay you like 15-20+$/hr. You might have to settle for something like healthcare security though (less pay) or go be a doorman at a club and see hot sloots all night.

Do security work for a couple of years and look into getting some post secondary, maybe a 2 year policing diploma or something. Then go apply to some law enforcement agencies.

Put them muscles to good use user. Just realize the security industry is shit but it will open doors to things like sheriffs, corrections, policing etc.

The government is so fucking stupid that they unironically give me free money just for being alive and """"going to school"""".

this
I grew up in a small farmtown where everyone grew up operating tractors, watertrucks etc.... Bunch of kids from my highschool went straight into the workforce as heavy equipment operators and are making 80k+ per year at 20-22 years old.

meanwhile i got meme'd into uni and am making $12.25 working part time :D

Wow that sounds... amazing. I wish the government was retarded in my favor instead of just sucking the life out of me with taxes.

Doesn't that require a lot of training and time investment out the gate though?

I wish America had a functional government not run by right wing billionaire elitists like you

I don't do much of anything. I go around to people my company wants to do/continue business with and convince them that they like my company. Honestly, most of my time on the clock is spent browsing the internet in my phone. For some reason, they gave me 67k last year, a months paid vacation, and a whole bunch of other shit I don't deserve.

This sounds like the best job... how'd you get this?

Honestly, not a lot depending on what's available. I started working at a small shop with pretty limited knowledge of proper carpentry, and some familiarity with basic shop tools. I apprenticed there, started out part time, then eventually made it full time. One of the big factors that put me ahead in the hiring process was already knowing how to read layouts and knowing how to paint.

Hey user, i feel you. I've worked at "customer services" jobs all my life, from bakery's, grocery stores (absolut worst imo) and even fucking mcdonalds.

I've found that if you're gonna have a "no education" job you have do your best to find something that is at least tolerable.

My current job is at a warehouse and it's the best job i've ever had, the hours are pretty shit (i have to get up at 5 in the morning) and it's a little bit hard on the body but except for that it's perfect, it's 8 hours just packing shit and moving boxes, completly mindless work and best of all; i can listen to music/podcasts/books while i do it.

And when you have 8 hours listning to stuff you can be so productive, i've listend through all the harry potter books since i worked there, like 3000 + pages since i started lol

anyway, guess i was kinda lucky but i really recommend a job where you don't have any customers, i'd rather clean toilets then have to fake another smile while i deal out happy meals to overweight little shits

I have a bachelor in Computer Science so now I work as a programmer for € 2000 for 4 days a week while still living in a student house with 2 friends so I save like half of that money

I was kinda recruited, I guess? I was on a long layover and making conversation and got to talking with this dude and it kinda birdwalked from customer service, to working with people, and why I like it and how I do it, then he tells me about the vacancy and that his company's looking. He's not directly in charge of that so he can't promise a job or anything but he'd put in a good word. Like a week later I had a webcam interview, and another week and a half we were doing salary negotiation and whatnot.

not true at all...

That's awesome, and good for you! What's the company's field in?

Manufacturing. Someone designs a part or product, we make it for them, they turn around and sell it.

I don't know if this is the exact job you do, but my company (we're in sales) has a similar position where your job is to be a sort of "spokesperson" for the company. You talk to other big companies and actors (mostly ones we're already doing business with), get the word out about our services and maybe try to get some new deals in place.

It's sounds all fancy on paper, but you're basically just a glorified mix of customer service- person and a traveling salesman that goes to a company and tells them what we're about and what we can offer, then the "real" educated business people comes in and makes the deal.

it's simple as fuck, but since there's potentially millions at stakes here you can't fuck it up. All of the 3 woman in my company that does this are blonde and super pretty, but most importantly insanely charismatic and friendly. We also have one guy that does something similar and he's a walking chad/hemingworth.

From what i've seen, however, jobs like these are very rare and when they do pop up it's a combination of tons of things that will determine if you have a shot; you're education, if the right people notice you, how you look, act, that you're at the right place at the right time etc

so it's not something i would aim for career wise
