My gym got a set a few months ago, wouldn't buy myself cuz I'm a tight ass but due to bike accident I can't do normal push ups.It's either this thing or on my fists, right wrist can't support any weight when flat. So maybe before you jump on the elite soap box consider that injuries do occur and no everyone has complete ROM for all joints mate....

Every physical fitness standard for every military and police force will ask about pushups and >1 mile runs. Sometimes the run goes up to 10 miles who the fuck knows. They always count pushups as a standard of fitness. Because of this, despite all my gaining lifts I always ensure I can do 45 pushups in 2 minutes and can complete at least 1 8 minute mile.

Calm down dummy. What do you think the percentage of people buying those things due to injury is? Probably statistically insignificant.

Oh, and push-ups are fucking great OP you cuck. They work a shit load of muscles and they're the body weight equivalent of bench press which is GOAT lift.

No fucking way a pushup recruits more muscle and CNS than my scrap heap narrow bench. Thank god i use it in my powercage because without safeties I'd be dead. Need to get a proper bench for my own sanity.

pushups will utilize your serratus anterior wheras the bench press doesn't too much. increasing intensity on the pushup for progressive overload is a great tool for a wider looking upper body with the fish gills look. you can get someone to put their foot on your back, use bands, chains, or even balance weight but of course that becomes more difficult as you progress

Yes, that picture is from starting strength. Rip tends to think of loading the push-up as "plates on your back."

If you're willing to spend some money, you can get a weight vest that loads in 3 lb bars to 150 lbs.

Even a lightweight should have natural resistance of about 100 lbs on the raw push-up, minimum.

With vest, now you're up to 250 lbs.

From there, do one arm push-ups (you'll have the strength).

In theory, you could progress your one arm push-up to 250 lbs (vest plus body) which equates to 500 lbs of horizontal pressing strength. This is more than enough for most guys.
