Gettysburg 1993 movie iteration

He never forgave Lee for sending his division to die.

Ok thank you!
do you have a link of that scene on youtube?

They're getting slaughtered due to the hubris of thinking you could march down an open field to well-defended union lines.

They became cold ones

No I don’t have a link to that scene, but by all means look up the movie it’s decent.

The entire charge.

damn, their uniforms are aesthetic as fuck

wow, I get what you're talking about to some degree, but it's kind of a shame that the 1993 Gettysburg film has such mediocre cinematography/editing/effects...

though I guess that's a problem with a lot of films that are borderline documentaries..

they have so much to cram in they don't have time to make it look good or really allow for "reflection", or a sense of drama..

But I'm getting autistic about the detail's regarding film as an artform.

I HAVE NO DIVISION

joshua chamberlain did nothing wrong

FOR VAHJINYA

What bothered me most was that they used re-enactors. (The only way financially possible without CGI). Lee's army looks awfully well-fed.

they should have offered double extra pay to any man within a certain bmi range

Gods and generals is the superior film.

Gone with the Wind is best civil war kino

Literally the only film that I've ever fallen asleep to.

I thought the sound-balance was a bit off too

the drums should be a fuckton louder, almost like too loud.

having the sound balanced so it's incredibly loud, creates a sort of immersive effect.

similarly having things be less "lots of white smoke" and more cracking/snaping bullets and close-ups at soldiers wincing at shrapnel zipping over their heads

could've also used more fake limbs and blood.. but I think it was in part made by Ted Turner so that could've been a factor as to why there wasn't much in the way of gore or swearing.

like in this:

Though I think it's probably unfair to compare anyone to Kubrick.

there are other films that I can't remember that are also good examples of using effects and sound to good effect for black-powder-era-battles.

Gods and Generals had vastly better audio quality at least in terms of the firearms.

it gets me every time
>be robert e lee
>engaged in battle on some farmland in pennsylvania
>have the longest line of cannon on the american continent
>exchange fire for 2 and a half days
>on third day, enemy stops firing cannons
>assume that all of their cannons are destroyed
>send a whole infantry division charging at the enemy
>enemy stars firing cannons again
>entire division is obliterated
>turning point of the war, your army is driven out of enemy territory
>vicksburg happens
>half of your country razed and plundered
>lose war

gettysburg and crouching tiger hidden dragon are two such films for me

OUCH!

underrated

Gods and Generals is shit. Really. It is a bad film. Gettysburg is better by far.

I fell asleep to Transformers: Dark of the Moon in the theater. The nap was a far better choice.

Both awful

Man the CSA had some nice uniforms

Its a shame you don't have the patience to appreciate a good movie.
