The term Hun applying to Germans had nothing to do with genetics.
See during the Boxer Rebellion, there was a battle known as the Battle of Peking. Although calling it a battle is kind of a stretch as it was so hilariously one-sided and the real fight was over who got to receive credit for saving the embassies. After the utter devastation of the Boxers in the attack came the usual looting and pillaging. The American general present at least tried to ban looting, though it didn't work. The British in business as usual set up orderly auctions of what they looted. But notably, Kaiser Wilhelm actively encouraged looting, urging his troops to "show no mercy like the Huns of old". His speech is what led to the German nickname of Hun in WW1, and notably the German papers ran a corrected version of the speech, making this one of the first well-known recorded cases of a political gaffe.

Who the original Huns were precisely and their genetic makeup is unknown. Roman historians mention that the Hunnic hordes included Germanic and Gothic tribes in addition to the steppe nomads, so presumably there was intermarriage between them. With no idea of what the original tribes that formed the Huns were, attempting to determine how much genetic influence they had on modern Germans is impossible.

They mixed with "white" "european" "caucasian" (it's more dfficult than that but you still got the idea) with time obviously as they assimilited and mixed like any ancient empire, but they weren't originally "germanic" L1 people.
