break things down

if you're going to show any military history/battle explanations, have a way of arranging the info so you can have numbers for each army on either side of the screen. that way peiople will know what they are looking at and process the info without you having to mention it directly in a way they might forget

further, for non military history, have a timeline in the bototm where the year(s) you are talking about is highlighted so you can bounce around and mention a bunch of stuff without people getting confused

For the love of God, don't be a condescending douche, and don't pretend to be more qualified to talk about anything than you actually are. The thing that annoys me most about history channels are when people that are clearly amateurs start calling themselves scholars and talking like they're giving their audience a serious lecture (even though their content is incredibly surface level). It always makes the presenter seem like an annoying tryhard that's overcompensating. Just present information in an interesting, relatable way and don't be insufferable about it.
