Because that is money well spent on feeding the poor so they won't destroy or loot the 7 ancient wonders.

>Building eternal wonders that last forever when you could be feeding unproductive thuggish welfare parasites

C'mon it's 2018 gramps

Weren't eternal the last time, don't think they'll be eternal now.

>in our hearts

The ones we have now are far better

like the great anal plug of london

>rebuild the 7 ancient wonders?

And how did they look? We don't know that aside from some very vague descriptions in ancient writing and numismatics. You can't just rebuild something you hove no idea how it looked, what materials were used etc.

We know exactly how they 'looked'. Like a description of something in a book.

you couldnt do it today. it would be too expensive and a lot of the skill ls required is lost. how many bronze sculptors are left? how many stone carvers?

>rebuild something that lasts forever

I'd rather not see modern art fuck it up somehow

>how many bronze sculptors are left? how many stone carvers?
More and better ones than they had. We're seven billion people user, you don't think there's money and talent for that?

I bet he's the same kind of guy who believes we can't rebuild the pyramids today.

>implying we built them in the first place

WELL

well why don't we?
the corners of the great pyramids are 90 deg to several decimals precision more than modern engineers use
and they're oriented towards north within a billionth of a deg

It's actually the opposite, it would be too easy now. They wouldn't be as wonderful.

The question is why would we. What would be gained by doing it? And modern engineers toe the line between precision and cost. If something does the job for price X, there's no reason to pay more than X for it to do the same job. A building whose corners are within 0.01 degrees of orthogonal isn't going to be significantly worse at its job than a building whose corners are within 0.0001 degrees of orthogonal.

true, what made the wonders of the old world wonders was that it took extreme effort and were built with revolutionary techniques
nowadays any Saudi prince could have one built if he wanted to do it.
What we should strive for is to build new wonders of the modern era, a mile high building is a vastly more interesting wonder than some statue.
