If colonization ruined Africa, then why are Liberia and Ethiopia the 11th and 13th least developed nations respectively?

If colonization ruined Africa, then why are Liberia and Ethiopia the 11th and 13th least developed nations respectively?

They were independent throughout the scramble for Africa.

Liberia was doing relatively well until they had a massive fucking civil war that completely upended the country and basically destroyed decades of development overnight.
Ethiopia was also doing relatively well before they fell to Communism in the 70's.

Ethiopia was the definition of a 3rd world shithole even before communism.

>Ethiopia
>Doing pretty well
No, that was Somalia.

Liberia essentially was a colony, just a colony of American blacks ruling over African blacks. Lots of corruption, greed, de-facto slavery, rigged political selections (the most rigged election ever happened in Liberia in the 1920s), and a brutally hiearchical system

>If colonization ruined Africa

That's not the case
Before the 19th century colonization, Africa was still like in the Neolithic era and villages few kms away were constantly waging genocidal wars on each others

Lies. Black Panther assures me that Africa was the most progressive continent in the world before colonialism

Dont be so nu male. Correlation isnt causation.

>British is blue
>French is red

REEEEEEEEEEE

>France is red
>Britain is blue
>Portugal is yellow
>Belgium is grey
>Germany is green

How did they fuck up this bad?

Was going to post this

Ethiopia is poor for the same reason it wasn't colonized: Because it's so fucking poor. It's just some mountains, yes they have a very long tradition of civilization there, but the material culture has always been impoverished and frankly it was the least desirable part of the continent. And of course it WAS colonized, very brutally, by the Italians, granted it wasn't under their boot for very long but a lot of damage was done.

Who the fuck coloured this map? What the fuck man?

A hero who triggered a whole thread of autists simply thru the choice of color. A true inspiration for us all.

Colonization didn't ruin Africa. If it wasn't for colonization then Africa would be a million times worse than it is now.

But what about Thailand? they modernized without ever being colonized, couldn't Africa have done the same?

>these colours

That aside the European powers were more developed scientifically, technologically, had more resources etc. etc.The question is in effect "why is africa less developed" and my answer to that is "time". You can't go from an iron age civ to a modern 1st world one overnight, it takes a long time to build cultural structures as well as physical ones.

That said it's different in the modern day, if you look at korea or china or japan they developed quite quickly but even then had pre-existing states over the centuries. I wonder how long it will take for Africa to develop to the same level though.

Britain took 100 years to industrialize, and every nation afterwards took less and less time. It's a little like miniaturization, technology gets more efficient the longer it is in active use.

Liberia was an American colony

No? You are compare a state to a continent. Outside of North Africa i'd imagine no.

Why not? West Africans were enthusiastic adopters of European technology.

Liberia is poor because of constant civil wars. Same with Ethiopia

I would also like to remind you that Ethiopia is the fastest growing economy for years continuously, so things might change there.

Fun fact:95% of nigger countries wouldnt exist if not for whitey

Did you also know every single city in Black Africa was made by whitey too?

no it wasn''t

Yes it did

>They were independent throughout the scramble for Africa.
Not Liberia.

yeah no.

>If colonization ruined Africa
It didn't. Africa was already ruined. Africans hadn't even invented the wheel, much less writing or cities or liberalism or industry. It was a tribal shithole back then, and despite Europe's best effort, it's a tribal shithole now.

Why do you think they were so keen to round up others to sell as slaves? What do you think it was the Europeans sold them?

Africa was on average Iron Age tier, even the pastoralists used iron. Only the lowest of the low didn't use metal.

the cities on the somali coast weren't made by wh*Tes

Slavery was only outlawed in Ethiopia when the wogs invaded

>despite Europe's best effort

European governments loved using ethnic strife and favoritism for their own gains.

It was outlawed before but they had a lot trouble implementing it just like China and it's foot binding. Even then wogs just like any other power in Africa easily bypass anti-slavery legislation by just forcing blackies to work.

Retard alert

Are you drunk?

Liberia was colonised

Fast forward to the 20th century. Scramble of Africa doesn't happen. European holdings on the continent amount to the coast. You really think technology would diffuse down? Africa's gdp would be a million times lower than it is now.

>European holdings on the continent amount to the coast

That's pretty much impossible because of the inante nature of how trade works

>You really think technology would diffuse down?

It did though because tech diffuses through trade and or contact and we have a fuckton of cases all around the world of technologically behind people adapting to modern at the time tech and using it as their own.

We aren't talking about the civilized but isolationist Japan or connected to world networks and exposed to high indic and Sinic civilizations Thailand. We are talking about an entire continent which barely had the wheel. A few token kingdoms doesn't change the fact that Black Africa was largely tribal.

This. Maybe it's just my autism being triggered but wtf is with these colors

Objectively
>GB - Red
>France - Blue
>Portugal - Green
>Belgium - Yellow
>Germany - Grey

>You can't go from an iron age civ to a modern 1st world one overnight
hmm, /pol/ is starting to look a lot more attractive

>British are blue
>French are red
What the fuck man, why is this triggering me?
