Fit for Lent

Alright, Veeky Forums. Wednesday starts Lent.

What are you planning on sacrificing and how will it affect your gains?

My dog.
I'll eat all his remaining food though, so hopefully will get some decent gains.

>not cooking the dog
>squandering protein

Never gonna make it

Wasn't really thinking about doing anything for Lent, but maybe I should just try to get rid of a bad habit.

Problem is I don't know what.

Maybe coffee. I drink it like 2 times a day (decaf or not, I just love having a cup in the mornings and when I get home) but just black. Maybe I'll give up my warm bed or something. No coffee would feel wrong. Probably won't affect anything but my sleep.

Just choose one. The Lord will grant you the wisdom to make the right choice

Brapposting.

>unironically being cuckstian on Veeky Forums

look its real fun reading deus vult comments under youtube videos like medieval total war or some shit but 555-come-on-now

...

Honestly, I should give up Veeky Forums for Lent

Trust in God that he will make it easy for you and will bestow upon your gains you've never could have dreamt of.

Any Orthodox here? How do you guys mix training heavy with fasting for lent?

You don't, you stop lifting. Don't be afraid of losing gains.

I'm giving up leg day for lent

Shouldn't really affect my aesthetics too much

Thinking about giving up alcohol but I'm also worried I'll be too boring in social situations without it

This seems like an imperfect solution

Normally I do the strict Orthodox fast, but this year I'm mid-cut and already feel pretty weak. So instead I'm going to pick up meditation and daily reading, observe the strict fast on Wednesdays and Fridays, and give up Veeky Forums completely.
Seems impossible the three times I've fasted while lifting. It always leaves a very big dip in my progress, I usually get injured, and I get suck much more easily. If you're following the traditional fast of all vegan, no oil, with only 1-2 meals a day and avoiding gluttony, then you will not progress. It's just not doable.

probably insta, snapchat, maybe Veeky Forums so it won't really effect my lifting
fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday is gonna set back my bulk by like a week though

Orthodox, checking in. It's going to be a rough one this year, but lentils, beans, and oats will help me through most of it. I'm debating whether whey is allowed or not. I usually fast very, very strictly, but I might make this year slightly more lax.

It helps that I don't particularly enjoy food. I only eat because I'll die if I don't. I'm expecting my bf% to drop a little, and I intend to keep my macros up. I've always had a really Mediterranean diet, desu. Lent isn't a huge deal to me anymore.

Also, kαλή Σαραkοστή!

god lmao

I'm having some coffee before class and I realize it's become a real luxury for me at this point. Coffee it is, I'll work around it.

>2017
>actually giving up things for sky fairy

lmao

Gonna try and permanently break my addiction to fapping.

Any advice?

Rice is one thing.
Thinking of another one though since I haven't had any rice in some time now

Lent being a time of giving things up traditionally means it's also not a bad time to give up stuff for personal reasons. Sure, you could just use any arbitrary set of 40 days, but Lent is one that's already culturally understandable. If you say "I'm giving up chocolate for June," people are going to be confused, but if you say "I'm giving up chocolate for Lent," even if you're not religious, people are going to understand you better.

Plus, using Lent like this can also help you individually, even if you're not explaining to people when you're giving up chocolate. Have you ever been having trouble with a lift, and pumped yourself up by imagining yourself as a superhero? Have you ever been struggling on a run, and imagined that a wild beast was chasing you? Obviously neither of those things were true, but they're helpful ways of visualizing things that can help motivation. They're also kind of fun. Fasting and thinking of it as being a kind of spiritual awakening for you might turn out to be bullshit on its own terms, but beneficial in terms of getting it done.

Oh, and *tips fedora*

im giving up porn on lent

Me too, bud. We're gonna make it.

drinking
can't hurt to stop for a month

Smoking. Really I can't see any draw backs to it

Golem get ye gone

I'm going to stop jerking off to the more degenerate porn that I'm into

>using porn in the first place
Fucking cookie cutter

There are secular arguments according to which it may be appropriate to give up things. See: Cicero, On duty and the stoics.
