I had the same problem. Never did squats because my first gym didn't have free weights. Then the beginning was very frustrating. Really crushed my ego and it took forever to build up a mediocre squat.

There is only one thing you can do. Keep going forward. My proportions are pretty bad for squat, long legs short torso. At least my dead is great thanks to that. What I did is make my stance very narrow, even narrower than Jesse Norris, and somehow that worked really well for me.

I thought the point of secure trips was that they can't be cracked.

Some other stuff helps too. I found stuff like hex bar deads raised my squats a plate. Split squats and bulgarian squats are good too.

low bar goes much more into elbows and is a huge wrist killer. I train with high bar and from what Ive seen many good powerlifters do the same

Alright /plg question for y'all. Making a homebrew routine and trying to balance weekly frequency, volume per session, and intensity.

Current max: 260lbs, paused, bw: 178lbs

I've been going 3x a week, with 10*5 at 76-78% intensity (200/205lbs) 2x a week, and 1x a week at a 5*3 at 200lbs

I may decrease intensity down to 75% or below (so 190/195lbs for me) and increase the amount of volume on the 3rd "smaller" session

Thoughts?

I'm guessing you're referring to bench. I don't see any rate of progression are you adding weight linearly? You need to have an actual plan for progression

Yep, um I didn't consider that at all. Plan was to run it for 3 or so weeks, do 1 lighter workout (5*5 at 195lbs) and test maxes @ beginning of Sheiko #32, and then at the end again. Use new 1rpm to add more weight on again

Thing is, something similar, got me from 245 to 260lb bench with a small increase in BW, so that's why I didn't plan any weight progression

What are you doing for max effort?

If you don't have any plan for progression you would fare better doing a cookie cutter program. Watching the CWS programming series would help to make your own programming if you want.
