You have 30 seconds to explain why you don't practice the worlds best marital art

>assailant attacks you
>heh lucky i brought my gun
>shoot their head off
>nothing personnel, kid
>go to prison
?????
>butt rape

Fortunately I live in a country with reasonable self defense laws.

Busted shoulders :(

BJJ is meme for office rats, safest and easiest martial art.

>i live in society
>i'm 6'7 and built

pick one

>safest and easiest martial art
it takes 10 years to get to black belt, injury is very common, so is cauliflower ear.
but sure go ahead, repeatedly suffer head trauma through kickboxing because thats much more intelligent

Have you ever wrestled in high school?

im britbong

>it takes 10 years to get to black belt
10 years of ass climbing and kissing your opponent in the neck, wow
> injury is very common
but still bjj is safest martial art that's why it so popular
>so is cauliflower ear
poor child

Because it would be useless against >1 assailants

meme martial art

not easy but no head trauma makes it ideal for working people

to get to a high level in anything you need live sparring, in boxing and kickboxing that means getting blasted in the face and suffering minor brain damage all the time

with BJJ you can roll full blast and hopefully tap before anyone gets snapped up

pipe bomb

because the judo club is closer and cheaper, and a couple of the guys there have backgrounds in BJJ anyway.

>playing pretend judo
lol

Laugh at the europoor

If you're going to roll on the ground with your assailant, you might as well suck them off. Maybe they'll let you go. Or you could just live in a developed country and blow their head off with a gun.

>not shooting the entire police force dead aswell

>le "i have a gun meme"

Why can't you do both? Have a gun, and practice martial arts. Clearly being good at fighting and shooting would be superior to just being good at shooting but sucking at fighting.

Because I prefer boxing.

I'm post gyno surgery and can't do anything physical for a few more weeks.

>'Developed country where everyone has guns'
>Thinking america is developed
>Believing the US isnt a backwards, gun riddled hellhole

>This
I also practice some Greco-Roman with a buddy, but that's more cause I find suplexes to be hilarious, and oh no bonus neck gains.

Shoot the other prisoners too you dumb ass mongoloid

Too old to be wrestling.
Too smart to be boxing.
Too heterosexual to be doing kungfu or whatever gay chink shit you aren't thinking of.

You don't actually need to train to fight if you have good genetics.

>6'1
>Large shoulders
>Lumberjack build

It doesn't matter if you have 3 weeks of training or 3 years, if I get angry and black out. You will be a bloody pulp by time I wake back up. Your stupid arm bar or fairy choke won't mean shit.

That's not MT or boxing tho

Nowadays I do Ju Jitsu and HEMA.

You can wrestle here too. If you had you'd know that he's essentially right.

Not remotely disrespecting BJJ it is great but it is the softest and easiest on the body from of grappling. That's almost the point.

There's a point where martial become much more harm than good. I mean I know lots of kickboxers and Judoka's and all sorts of martial artists who are phenomenally good fighters but they'd be easy targets for a violent criminal because their competition days has left them so fucked up. Soft is good.

welcome to Veeky Forums

>implying you wont be out cold in >10 seconds when some beginner sinks a triangle or rear naked choke on you

>Lumberjack build
so, fat?

>. You will be a bloody pulp by time I wake back up. Your stupid arm bar or fairy choke won't mean shit.

kek

Beginners don't get either of those against a large standing attacker.

He's wrong but don't take the bait.

Came here to post this.

In what 3rd-world nation will they incarcerate you for killing an assailant?

implying you need martial art skills in a developed country

>practice
Yeah have fun pretending faggot.

>remember, no witnesses

nah man,
this.
Plus im 6'1 and 200lbs myself, so not that it's relevant, but if i for some reason failed to get you to the ground and choke your shit, which takes 4 seconds until you pass out btw, I'd go toe to toe with you and rinse you with limited thai boxing experience.
>nothing personnel kid.
a little bjj goes a long way, look at when royce gracie came on the scene with no strike skills and chewed up top fighting athletes.

I find your post funny, take a you

>MT
>great
do you live in some asian ghetto shithole?

thanks for the tip, i'll be sure to try something else

What size fedora do you wear?

I have my concealed carry and I don't like impetago and Mrsa. I wouldn't mind doing it once or twice a week as a hobby, but definitely not going to "practice" it.

AHHH

OHHHH SAAY CAN YOU SEEEEEE

That hurt by proxy

Funny how people always think that. You can be however strong you want, but even if you're fighting a scrawny 60kg dude you'll want to respect the choke. Strength advantage means nothing if you're unconscious.

Because I don't want to be one of those guys who right after introducing themselfs say
> I am a mma fighter
or
> I do boxing
or
> I train kickboxing
Even if it seems awesome and in some time I will start doing it (as soon as I gain more muscular mass) I really hate the whole meme feel behind it,also if you don't introduce yourself like that, others will
> He is a mma fighter
Or
> He trains for kickboxing
Yeah pretty cool bro,but honestly you're not made of iron and an unexpected punch from a 220 lbs/100 kg right in the torax or the abs will let you out of breath

I do 10th Planet instead

This. If you are moderately fit or athletic and not a manlet you can stomp the room. It's not a serious martial art. Kung fu is more practical ffs.

t. a guy who goes to bjj sparingly whenever they run a special. and destroys their blue belt everytime i come in.

Lol this. I cant see a beginner getting in a position against somebody whose intentions are to destroy you without grappling. while you think of "how do i get him on the ground" hed probably already be in the process of stomping your brains in.

BJJ its the losers choice.

>this triggers the jiujiteiro

>2017
>Doing one martial art
I'm training judo and muay Thai. I will train bjj when I get old.

What happens if the dude is naked ? or just in his underwear ? doesn't bjj rely a lot on grabbing un-tearable clothes ?

>educate me

My judo club does regular nogi nights, and the two bjj clubs near me have nogi nights.
It is just slightly different grips, but nothing that would rustle jimmies to do jitz without pajamas.

But I do.

BJJ is literally the product of a sickly child altering the rules of judo until he could stand a chance against his stronger brothers. Tachiwaza is way more interesting (seriously, it's like trying to grow a sixth sense) but BJJ got popular through trashy marketing and by dent of being safe enough for out of shape deskchair jockeys. For fighting, all the neat groundwork is absolutely worthless if you can't control and throw an opponent from standing, something nearly all BJJ gyms spend minimal time on, while Judoka train to throw and rapidly subdue the thrown opponent.

Most grips can be adapted for no-gi combat. Some BJJ schools are no-gi only, in fact.

>low back problems prevent bjj, squats, deadlift

just a bodyweight fag :(

american wrestling is the best for takedowns. can supplement with other fag arts

Judo has way more violent takedowns that can hurt somebody all on their own though. Sure, learn to shoot at the legs too, but you aren't going to KO somebody with a double-leg.

Throws also have the advantage of letting you keep on your feet and stay mobile if you aren't just fighting one-on-one.

Because I gave several pipe bombs at my disposal

youtube.com/watch?v=ktquuOLeQV4

nigga was thrown on concrete several times and got up several times.
I'm not saying you can't knock a guy out with a clean throw, but even an experienced guy had trouble with a completely noob in that point. he didn't knock him out, he had no ground control and a referee is not going to declare you the winner after you hold him for 20 seconds.

i have practiced bjj, wrestling and judo. i know judo's groundwork is the worst. stiff as fuck because the ref is just going to stand both dudes up anyway.

I hear it's near impossible to find someone who teaches practical sword combat, not like I tried, though.

>what is hema and kali

I don't like fighting

I actually came to Veeky Forums for the first time in 2.5 years just to see if anyone here did bjj.

I've been lifting and practicing bjj for 3 years now (shit blue belt 1 stripe). I know this place is absolute broscience central with 0 credible science used to justify anything (which is why i stopped coming here altogether), actually why the fuck am i here.

cya

this has to be false flag, this is 100% replica of what anyone competent in bjj would say if they were pretending to be a retard.

These people come in for one session, talk about "the streets" and get promply receive an armbar from a 110lb girl and they never seem to come back.

Wrestling is great, but it shares most of it's most traumatic takedowns with judo, just under different names, so I'm not sure what you're so mad about since they're the same throws. I was a state champ wrestler, btw. No need to be so rude.

I'm not saying you have to KO somebody with a throw and that's the only way to win a fight. The guy doing the throwing in that video still won because he pinned his opponent and stayed safe that way, referee or no. He certainly could have capitalized on his throws better, but I only see one person falling on concrete here.

Judo's groundwork isn't worse. Judoka are worse at groundwork because they spend less time on it due to the competition ruleset. It's definitely a weak spot for most judoka, but some of the sport's biggest stars are newaza specialists, and many grassroots tournaments have newaza-only divisions that attract BJJ guys so it's not like judo bans you from learning how to fight on the mat.

Already praticing Krav Maga

>Destroys their blue belt

Lol like what they just the one?

I've never really browsed Veeky Forums before is it an inside joke to hate on BJJ? It's unfortunate either way, it's gotten me in really great shape and kick-started a healthier overall life for me. I'm sad to see it so unliked.

BJJ is great, but this thread started with calling it the best martial art so of course that's going to invite criticism.

really, how much does it cost and how much time you cant do anything physical?

...

You wanna bait and dont even do MMA!

I do. I'm even heading to Thailand this August to train Muay Thai for a month

>American wrestling
lmao

Wtf ist american Wrestling???

There is Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling and doth are Acient Greek Wrestling styles...

Because I do Greco-Roman.

"Wrestlers are super alpha and pull mad bitches brah." - Plato

This. Freestyle wrestling + BJJ
Judo is stale and limiting

>he remembered sambo
>shotokan is acceptable after power gap
I find this list agreeable

Pretty good list

Yeah pretty much

Hapkido should be in WEB.
Judo should be in GREAT.
BJJ w/out takedowns should be IN ACCEPTABLE
And swap kung fu with taekwondo.

Because Martial Arts never works in a real fight. Pure strength + height + how fast you are decides.

4/10

Is Krav Maga any good?

Depends. It has no quality control whatsoever, so you could go to a place that has regular sparring and good technique, and is basically just MMA with some extra self defence concepts.
However, you could also find a place that doesn't spar, has shit technique and think ball kicks and eye gouges will let them beat up an MMA fighter. Pic related.

youtube.com/watch?v=e6khZnrh4RE

It's when you do normal wrestling and then give each other rim jobs.

So, theoretically, it can be good. I really want someone to put in use on the streets, but KM seems like some useless shit for retards grown up on movies about ninjas and rembo and stuff like that.

I do its called wing chun

>So, theoretically, it can be good
Absolutely, but it's a gamble.
>I really want someone to put in use on the streets
To be honest, any MA that involves applying practical techniques to a resisting opponent will serve you well in a fight. Boxing and/or judo is what /asp/ usually recommends, but muay thai, sambo, kyokushin and lots of others will all do fine. The skill gap between someone with a year of experience and someone with no experience is quite significant.

the gif you showed is just a wrestler doing a takedown with gnp. which is what succeeds in the UFC too

The things that worry me the most about street fights are knifes and shit like that, so that's what turned my attention KM. I'll research more on the ones you mentioned, thanks.

I think I found it labelled "judo" somewhere, but you're right - the hip throw he uses is maybe a bit more typical of wrestling than judo.
Not that it matters - all good grappling is basically the same. I know judoka who love double-legs and fireman's carries and BJJ guys who love to throw.

For sure.
