He's not wrong about what you need to do to be great, but his goals and methods are at odds with what most people want. This comes up in the number of times in his training books say some variation of "yeah, you're going to constantly be some level of injured" and "this is about achieving or breaking in the attempt".

Which is solid reality if your goal is to squat 700+ and chase records. Maybe not such a good approach for the average person who just wants to look decent.

Sounds like a roiding American muh iron lyfe faggot Tbh

he sounds like someone with an IQ of about 80

I fucking love the guy. He knows what he is doing and his methods work. Taking ownership of your training is the best thing you can do.

That's the point - his methods are made to make you great. Nothing else and nothing more. If you are going for big weights and want to push those numbers you WILL get injured. You either take the risk or you don't.

The guy's blog was well-researched and he was reading tons of books on exercise science and nutrition. He was also a project manager at a software firm and running his own supplement company at the same time. The guy is nuts.

he's pro alcohol unlike those high inhibition geeks who whine about one beer killing their protein synthesis

Based Jamie:

youtube.com/watch?v=ymIEbOndCYs

He's a turbomanlet.

He even wrote an article about - We're Killing These Shots Like RIP, And That's Why We Outlift The Straightedge Kids

this guy is going to have serious pain when he hits middle age

He broke a foot and the next day was squatting in a cast.

Strong dude, bad brand.

He's a good example of why needing a coach is more about stopping the dumb ideas, than driving success through the good ideas. He is not a leader but talks with the voice of someone who thinks he is, which is dangerous in the age of the internet (like many others).

That's why you should listen to the "expert" advice of people such as Rippetoe who in their grand career spanning more than 35 years have produced exactly 0 world-record holders, 0 champions on a national and state level and have trained 0 competitive athletes. But hey, Rippetoe wrote a book that set the bar so low and produced a generation of "lifters" that struggle to bench high-school weight and have the anemic upper-body of a 9 year old.

Thats just retarded

So you should listen to a man who has no regard for his body and wants you to do the same. Smart idea buddy, why not listen to someone who has achieved things like succesful powerlifters?

All successful powerlifters have had injuries. Some of them have had entire joints replaced.

Also - this guy is literally a "successful powerlifter".

Federation and records?

Yeah a lot of them have had injuries, but im sure they try to minimize the risk of injury, just like every proffesional athlete does. One injury can ruin thier whole career, so why have a training system than disregards proper form and rather trains for temporary maxes than longevity.

Because it's better to kick ass while young. We will all be old and decrepit one day.

chaosandpainblogspotcouk/2016/10/arnold-is-about-as-much-best.html

What federation is it?

And I'd rather not have to replace my hips when i get older, you have to understand that everything you do now will catch up to you in due time. And I want to live a life with as little pain as I can.

USAPL

You either want results or you don't.

What's become of Jamie? I loved reading his blog and I know he was writing again. Is he even involved with the chaos and pain supplement line anymore? Seems like he's on hiatus from everything.

He had a burnout, stopped lifting and mostly writting for a year.

I love Chaos and Pain's over-the-top masculinity, Jamie is an excellent writer, his stew recipes are top-notch, but I'd be the last person to ever take training advice from him

he looks like he's a bit of a risk-taker when it comes to lifting whereas I prefer a more cautious approach to adding weight, maintaining form, etc.

still love reading his blog

At least he is the first to admit that his stuff is not for everyone and he also noted that a beginner should definitly not train like him.

He doesn't care how beginners train desu.

>MG: Okay (laughs), let’s say a beginner was brave/stupid enough to ask you to train them, what would you have them do, and what tips would you give them?

>Jamie: How raw a beginner?

>MG: Fresh out the womb.

>Jamie: Interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever trained a raw beginner. I would have them train front squats, standing overhead presses, and deadlifts three times a week, and then pullups, dips, and abs two other days a week. I’d keep the volume fairly low, especially at first, and have them focus on learning the movements.
After about a month, we’d take the training wheels off and start loading them up, but keep the routine the same.

muscleandbrawn.com/interview-with-chaos-pain-jamie-lewis/

This is from an earlier stage. I remember when the Starting Strength forums were giving him flack and he went there and turned them into mince-meat. He was saying that he doesn't really care how beginners train and they don't need more than a "man the fuck up".

Goddamn OP don't talk about fucking Jamie Lewis on this board, the Veeky Forumsizens will get all confused.

these Rippletits worshipping pussies need Jamie in their lives

dude changed my life

>browsing internet for fun
>come across his article on neck training
>realize i have a 15 inch pencil neck
>start training neck
>it is now 18.5 inches a few months later and my traps got bigger too
>people accusing me of roids
>barber asked me if i started lifting weights even though i've been training for 3 years already

neck is the muscle you can show even in a sweater and jeans.

Also link to article? Trynna ditch my pencil neck but don't know any exercises.

chaosandpain.blogspot.com/2009/07/whats-that-spindly-thing-holding-up.html

its all genetics

ive been hitting my neck hard for a year and havent gained an inch

just fucking lol

What are you doing for it? If you're doing slow and controlled shit with light weight stop that shit, and go up to rep ranges like 3x100 with heavy weight and high tempo. Slow and controlled does nothing for the neck. Also do wrestler bridges 2-3x a week. Theres no way it's just genetic, there is no muscle in the human body that will not grow with progressive overload and adaptation.

What're you doing here, then?

not to powerlift that's for fucking sure

>>Get off at least three times a day.
Sorry english's not my main language.
What does that sentence mean by "get off"?

> have produced exactly 0 word-record holders

Look up Joe Pena

Pretty sure it is orgasm

>What does that sentence mean by "get off"?

rub your dick till white stuff comes out of the pee hole

ejaculate
>Get off at least three times a day. I saw some idiot mention this on some message board or another as completely impossible without the use of exogenous testosterone, which made me laugh in horror. If you can't manage to get off three times a day, check your fucking pulse, because you might be dead. There are innumerable health benefits to hypersexuality, and you should grab that bull by the horns and fuck its mouth.

He is a huge faggot. Literally.

Where do you think you are son

He's hetero (although he is into BDSM scat porn)

Jamie's an obnoxious edgelord but there's some wisdom in his training methods.

Especially regarding (((overtraining))). Just eat and sleep more, you bitch.

Agreed.
