Can anybody explain to me how the Ottomans weren't the third Rome? >but they were muzzies! So what? They rocked up to Constantinople, tore down it's walls and then dissolved their 'empire'. Essentially the same way they became Caliphs.
If anybody should have the right it's them.
William Walker
they were savage sand nigger steppe people that should have been wiped off the face of the earth
Ayden Martin
Conquering something does not make you an heir to the empire that you conquered.
Adrian Miller
Not an argument
Jacob Hall
the gokturks were badass but rome died with trebizond

>provincial with an army takes the city and has himself proclaimed emperor >foreigner with an army takes the city and has himself proclaimed emperor
If some little shi Greek duke can larp as a Roman Emperor than so can a guy with Constantinople and an actual Empire
>muh continuity and succession
There was no continuity in being Emperor. The office was seized by force, assasination, conspiracy a hundred times or more
Landon Lopez
rome>>charlemagne>>HRE>>imperial germany>>nazi reich>>the EU
Samuel James
The Byzantines were the legal continuation of the Romans. That's why they could be called the Roman Empire. After them, the HRE also has a decent claim, since the Papacy really was a Roman institution.
Matthew Miller
after the byzantines, who would it be then, the ottomans rigt?
Aiden Hernandez
Not to mention Mehmed even had royal Byzantine ancestry
Brayden Clark
Actually it was the Russian nobility, who actually were related to the Byzantines by marriage/blood.
Chase Wood
So were the Ottomans
Lucas Foster
>HRE Lol
Gabriel Torres
No you fool, the Roman Empire fell at Constantinople, not Rome. It is actually Rome—>Byzantium—>Tsarist Russia—>Nato (United States)
Mason Adams
People need to recognize that you are the Roman Empire. Everyone believed and said the Byzantines were the Roman Empire while no one but the Turks believed they were Roman Empire.
Owen Ortiz
>so were the ottomans
Connor Cox
Neither the turk nor greek subhumans were ever roman
Isaac Hall
>they took over Constantinople >that means they're the inheritors of Rome Uh, no sweety that's not how the world works.
William Wright
Beep, wrong. It's actually WRE > Charlemagne > HRE > Austria > Austria-Hungary Rome died in 1918. Pic related, the last Roman Emperor
Zachary James
Apparently forgot pic
Ian Kelly
>They rocked up to Constantinople, tore down it's walls and then dissolved their 'empire'. and that's why they arent rome
along with the fact that they're mudslimes

Same reason the Germans aren't for sacking Rome.
Bentley Long
>the current state of Veeky Forums And yet people insist /pol/ or /int/ ruined this board. You made your own beds, folks.
Carter Brown
For real reasons it actually needs to be centred in Rome for it to be a Roman empire. It was centred in Constantinople and ruled by Ottoman turks hence it's the Ottoman empire. All the underage edgy /pol/fags can fuck off because they will never make an empire as large and successful as the Ottoman empire
Jordan Robinson
by your logic all americans today are successors of the red skined native americans.

They were though

It didn't have Rome
Benjamin Bailey
So did half of European royalty

>roaches claim Byzantine were wewuzzing because they didn't control rome

>be Turk >ever since you heard about the city you've focused on nothing else than destroying it like some autistic savage >never part of the Roman empire of old >finally after hundreds of years and countless advances, everyone teams up against them for you to ravage >pillage, rape, destroy, erect minarets, erase anything that is Roman by ruining it with your own shitty ass pisslam >think that le """religious freedom""" meme will stand when you tax christians to the nose, kidnap their children and don't let them build nice cities and churches like the rest of their brothers >contribute virtually nothing to them and deny them their architecture and aesthetics becahs muh m*narets are too short (a.k.a preservation through neglect) which meant that the Jews, Austro-Hungarians and Bavarians built all the major cities overnight >but it's all g lol coz Mehmed wuz Trojan n sheit and wewuz briefly gonna convert to Orthodoxy so we could be Romanz n sheit but it didnt work out lol anyway lets genocide everyone and cause massive instability in the region that lasts till today
Christopher Clark
>Can anybody explain to me how the Ottomans weren't the third Rome?
Define rome. Rome was rome because self evident. Constantinople was literally new rome at a point in its history, used to be a roman province. Briefly became the roman capital. Shared rule of the empire with rome. The people who inhabited it called themselves romans. Only difference was the heavily grecophile orthidoxy.
Why the fuck would an east asiatic nonsettled, non latinized non grecophied non christian non pagan group of people witj fuckall to do with europe be in any way representative a third rome?
they were muzzies! >So what?
So the entire body politic of their empire was modeled along arab influence mixed with their own ethnic inclinations. Where be the rome at?
>They rocked up to Constantinople, tore down it's walls and then dissolved their 'empire'.
They conquered a dying city. The fuck does that have to do with making them romans? By that logic, the avars the huns and every other shit group that fucked up the empire shouldve been romans.
>Essentially the same way they became Caliphs.
Are you retarded? The turks had a long well documented history with the arabs. Their eventual ascendancy was likely given the nature of islamic history and the constant infighting of different dynasties that clashed because nonarab muslims wanted a bigger piece of the pie.the ittomans had their turn. Just like the ayubbids, the fatimids, the adibites, the kharjites, the sassanids ,the alawites, the ummayads, the abbasids thekhawarizmids and every other ethnic group that made a new sect as an excuse to fight. It is their way. It is a muslim way of doing things. Not roman.
