You can gain strength and muscle on virtually any resistance training program that has you "putting weight on the bar". And by that I mean lifting relatively heavy weight and occasionally lifting even heavier or progressing to a movement that is tougher to do when what you were doing before becomes easy.
As a matter of fact a good diet, resistance training(can be lifting or bodyweight)and cardio are what you need to lose weight.
A basic resistance workout that you would like to do 2-3 times a week is also how you will keep it off later.
