If you are from this country, what state are you in and what is your opinion of it historically. If you are not from this country, what is your knowledge of the individual states?

I'm not from the US, but I know most of the first 13 states and I know where a bunch of the 50 are. As to the culture and what it's like, I have near to no clue, except that it can be a bit of a shithole sometimes and there are guns in most places

Floridafag here. We are the country's Australia in that we are full of the other states felons. Do you mean my opinion of the state historically? Its a shitshow. State government is and always has been corrupt as fuck and most of the people here have a very strong distaste for the American government as a whole regardless of party. Crazy amount of Libertarians. Retirees are the overwhelming majority of people who actually bother to vote. Everything the state does is completely counterproductive to everyone's interests but no one does fuck all to fix it.

Conneticut fag her, honestly, New England is the only good part of the country. We have a unique and long standing culture (My home town was founded in 1639). We are more refined and educated and have a higher standard of living than the rest of the country. We should have broken away in 1812 cuz we would certainly be better off.

Ohiofag here. Love this place so much. Most call it flyover but anyone from here doesn’t care. We love this place though we rag on it ourselves. All 4 seasons can be experienced within a week, sometimes a day. Cost of living is pretty low. Best state for rollercoasters. Cincinnati chili is bomb, and we are on another level of exuberance when it comes to our college football. Go bucks! OH!

Masshole here, just bought land to build on in Vermont, and yes New England is the only good part. And the most rich in history. My hometown was first settled in 1633 and is the birthplace of the American navy. Boston is the birthplace of the war for independence. Plimouth Plantation, Salem Witch Trials, King Phillips War, Shays Rebellion, that autist Thoreau, Lowell Mills. The famous painting of Washington crossing the Delaware River depicts him in a boat with soldiers from my hometown, his preferred troops. Much of New England has attempted to preserve our unique historical identity and the other 44 states are just one enormous strip mall.

Europoor, I recall there some conflict between Michigan and Ohio over a territory, have all 50 states memorized, both shape and location (Although I guess Wyoming and Colorado would be a bit tricky to discern), also recall there being some Oregon dispute between the British and America during Polk's presidency over the 49th parallel

Oklahoma
We’re baby Texas with fewer mexicans and more meth
We’ll be 111 years old this year

Oh and injun casinos

Calforniay butt of man fucker here and there are far too many dumbass liberals here and not enough sexy latinos that do not give a shit what the president has to say about their fine-assed people.

>conflict between Michigan and Ohio

yea.. let’s not talk too much about ttun

I live in NYC and lived in Virginia and California. I have zero knowledge of other states I haven't lived in, and barely any real knowledge of the states I live in outside of the immediate surroundings. Anyone who pretends to know more or be some spokesman for entire regions is just a retarded and pretentious faggot.

Vermont is beautiful honestly, been there a few times. Kudos user. Glad to see another proud New England national.

South Carolina

Her history largely consists of Charleston plutocrats LARPing as nobility and doing their very best to avoid developing the state beyond their own holdings, leaving the rest as basically untamed wilderness until settlers from further up North moved down and made the backcountry somewhat livable.

Also niggers. Lots and lots of niggers.

Michigan fag here. Best thing about our state is the geography. Trekking across sand dunes, or swimming in one of your backyard lakes is bretty fun. Almost everyone has easy access to a beach or at least a lake. We're less poor and crime ridden than you'd think, even in Detroit, except for Flint, which is probably worse than you'd imagine. I hate evey state that has a coastline because they're either redneck hicks or liberal cucks, and I wish the Midwest would break away and become it's own sensible country without extremists. There's not much history to Michigan except the obvious auto industry peaks and troughs.

How comfy is Ann Arbor?

Yuropoor here:
>Texas
Cowboys, barbecue, bacon, used to be part of Mexico, now is full of Spic immigrants.
>Nevada
Shithole from which everybody flees.
>California
Predominantly leftist, no guns, most "European-like" US state except it's also full of non-Whites.
>Alaska
Reindeers, used to be a part of Russia but Tsar sold it out, cold, separated by Canada from the rest of the USA.
>Hawaii
Dancing, cocoa suits, has a Union Jack on it's flag despite not being part of the Commonwealth.
>Florida
Aligators, basically decided the fate of the 2016 elections, has a lot of Cuban immigrants.
>New York
Used to be owned by the Dutch, basically irrelevant besides the New York City full of yellow taxis and more skyscrapers than needed.

Rest of the states are irrelevant, besides maybe Washington D.C, which is a capital city, but there is no much to see there, except the White House.

I'm British.

As far as I can tell, Americans love the physical landscape they live in, and dislike everything else about it. It's why you all go innawoods and shoot at things.

That’s completely true except for the leftists who hate it and mock us as “flyover” states

Not as comfy as Holland. The truly comfiest place in Michigan is probably Mackinaw Island, if you can go there when there aren't tons of Indians there. (Sometimes what you think is horse shit really isn't)

Ohiofag. I like living here quite a bit. You can get a bit of everything from city life to farming. My family has lived in the region from the Shenendoah to down near the Ohio River and since before the revolution on my father's side and some have moved out across the midwest to the great lakes region, which is how i wound up here. My mother's ancestors were immigrants from Ireland and Ukraine in the late 19th century. they moved here right off the boat and have been centered here ever since. I like Ohio history. Its humble and although that might give it less historical significance than it might otherwise have, it keeps us grounded. people like to make fun of it, but it only makes me feel more fondly towards it. I love watching the freighters move and load/unload along the river and I live right next to the steel mills.

As for my opinion of the US, I am pretty high on it in a lot of ways, but really low on others. I am very proud of my ancestors who fought in this country's wars and glad to have some skin in the game, so to speak, I would never move outside the US, this land and country is my heritage and although I think things are going to get ugly before I die, I'll ride it out. We really have gone off the rails in a lot of ways, and I haven't really come to a conclusion how much of that is simply a logical conclusion of the original course and how much has been a perversion. I guess I mostly see the country as an experiment, like it was widely seen in the 1800's. Its led to some greatness and boundless glory, but also some pretty tragic and infectious ideology which we refuse to acknowledge.

and you hate leftists for being city dwelling fags, right?

it's not a healthy level of resentment

Texas here. Pretty cool state honestly, idk if other states are required to study your state history but we had to do it multiple times through gradeschool.

That’s the secret to America working
We all hate eachother just enough to balance it out

>Texas here. Pretty cool state honestly, idk if other states are required to study your state history but we had to do it multiple times through gradeschool.
You Texans are way too obsessed with that shit, Texas had like five years of interesting history.

My fellow ohiofag, I can agree with the majority of what he said
>best state for rollercoasters
Hell yeah, we have cedar point, nobody else can even compete.

Learning about the injuns here was pretty cool. And killing spics.
I bet you dont remember the Alamo, faggot

Also a New England nig.

Definitely the nicest part of the country being the richest and most educated. Spending so much of the budget on education and welfare obviously did something (whether you agree with the higher taxation or not). Dan Malloy went too far though, but he got ousted over it and paid the price. Connecticut should just take backseat and do what Masshole does only one step behind because we can't compete with them and need to stop trying.

Australian here, I'm a bit of a Utahboo. Everything about it, from its prehistory to the Mormons is fascinating to me.
I also enjoy reading about New York during the Civil War.

I'm from Canada and we had to learn US states and major/capital cities by rote and place them on a map - same with European countries and capitals.

California here

Used to be one of the greatest states in the union before democrats decided that the people had failed the revolution and that it was time to elect a new people

>Missouri
Geologically it has some cool stuff:
>one of the most active intraplate fault zones on earth
>St Francois mountains are a weird Precambrian mountain range, basically hills at this point due to erosion
>ozarks are pretty cool. Would recommend
>lots of limestone caves. Probably has rainforest tier levels of biodiversity
Historically:
>Mark Twain and Walt Disney are both from Missouri
>produced President Truman
>Genocided some Kansans (Bleeding Kansas)
>best part of Kansas City
>St Louis City Museum is basically a multi-storey urban jungle gym. Fun as fuck.
>Arch is state's most famous claim to architectural fame but also an eyesore
>1904 World's Fair
Now:
>meth
>black lives matter
>St Louis is a shithole
>hometown produced Rush Limbaugh
>still disliked by bordering states
>governor has picture next to a minigun, completely insane
>governor also has an autobiography called 50 Shades of Greiten
>basically the Florida of the Midwest.

>If you are from this country, what state are you in and what is your opinion of it historically.
Pennsylvania.
US was born here.
E-A-G-L-E-S... Eagles!

Not from the US. Individually I know the states can be pretty different from each other. California, despite droughts is still the best stat to live according to stats. There's the "flyover" states which do seem to be a bit backwards but I guess they're ok. Only name that comes to mind is Ohio, because of that weeb map meme. There's also Massachusetts because of that terrorist attack a few years back. That's about it.

I moved to New Mexico a little over a year ago. I have to admit that I knew basically nothing about the state before, but this place has some cool history.

Also, I'm living in the mountains in the North and it's beautiful.

California

We've seen better days

Tennessee here. We've contributed a lot to America I like to think. Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk, Nathan Bedford Forrest, Andrew Johnson, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, plus many of the Alamo defenders were from Tennessee among other figures. During the Civil War the state was heavily split between Unionists and Confederates and we provided troops to both sides and my ancestors fought for both sides. East Tennessee was the major unionist stronghold but actually parts of West Tennessee was unionist as well. Plus Tennessee is a breeding ground for many different types of music and the landscapes all over the state are beautiful. Most of us who are the descendants of the original colonists of Tennessee our ancestors usually were from North Carolina and Virginia. Plus we're called the Volunteer State which while historians tend to disagree where the nickname originated it all leads back to our willingness to fight for home and nation.

alabamian here, Tennessee is the only Southern state with legitimate heritage

Honestly same tho. I do not miss Malloy. I hope they legalize pot soon too desu.

I am not from a state, i'm from the COMMONWEALTH of Pennsylvania, the most influential, most important COMMONWEALTH of the entire country.

I'm from Dixie, and I say free'em all!
youtube.com/watch?v=3PbdyJ_ybSI
>Tennessee is the only Southern state with legitimate heritage
Thank you user

It's a piece of shit country responsible for most of the misery and chaos on planet Earth.

It needs to be wiped out ASAP

I'm from Canada, so I know quite a lot. More than many Americans I meet, but I'm one of those annoying know-it-all types and was always a geography and history buff, so...

if I wanted to move to USA which state would be cheap and comfy to live in? I heard Mississippi was cheap combined with the "Southern hospitality"

Texas here. Where I live is basically Mexico - the 4 major cities are all Liberal shitholes (DFW used to be relatively nice). South and west parts are sparsely populated desert, north has lots of plains, and east is flat and miserable.

I want to move to the "Cascadia" region (WA/OR/ID/MO) because it's the most naturally beautiful part of the country and is the most frontier-like.

Anywhere in the midwest will be affordable
The south end will have minorities but anywhere north of Kansas will be too cold for them

Western Pennsylvania here. The Pennsylvanian West, Central, and East may as well be separate states. Go Steelers, get your gas at Sheetz, and enjoy your pierogis.

North Carolina. It has a pretty rich history going back to the 1500s desu.

East Coasters who failed at life swarmed the midwest to "invest in real estate". The American dream is now dead here, keep moving.

Seattle native here, currently living in Oregon.

There's very little history that's relevant in the PNW before the early 20th century. During WW2 the Boeing plants in Seattle were important for supplying B-17s and B-24s, then later on Microsoft and Amazon were founded here. And Kurt Cobain grew up in Aberdeen. I actually went to the same high school that Jimi Hendrix did, there was a big mural of him on the first floor and his bust was in the library- but what they don't tell you was that he only went there for a year before being expelled.

And Oregon... is one of the only places in the world where Hazelnuts grow? Not much really happened here historically, or it could be I'm new to the area and don't know it well. Nike is headquartered here, so is Hewlett-Packard.

>thinks Texas is too liberal
>wants to move to the PN
user, I...

I hope you enjoy the company of niggers. Not just black people, but true blue just-like-the-cliché niggers.

Anyway, it's a subjective question. And cheap does not necessarily equal quality in other areas. If you want to live in a trailer with other trailer trash, in a state with no nearly services, then Mississippi is certainly cheap.

Me, I'm kind of /out/, and I like snow, so I'd personally be happy with any of the northwestern empty states (east of the Rockies though), Minnesota, parts of Wisconsin, etc. Kind of what I'm working towards, one day.

Fair enough, I like winter and small towns, I heard Wisconsin is nice from a mate of mine who lives there, Washington has good nature but is expensive as fuck from what I've heard.

I admit I know nothing about Southern Blacks, but are they really as bad as ghetto trash?

I grew up about a fifteen minute drive from Monticello.

America has unironically done more to improve the human condition than any other nation in human history. The only people who come close are the UK.

Needless to say, we abused power when we had the opportunity to, but literally all humans do that. The US happened to also use their power to destroy the British Empire, second and third reichs, Imperial Japan, and the Soviet Union.

Hopefully we can take down the PRC before we become irrelevant the way the UK has.

Mississippi is the worst state in the union, along with Louisiana. Expect third world levels of poverty, ignorance, and violence.

This being said, New Orleans was the worst city in the country when I lived there, and I loved it.

Also NC here.

Geography:
>Can get from the beach to the mountains in less than a day.
>Middle of the state is pretty boring, rich soil good for tobacco farming
>Blue Ridge Mountains have some incredible views and an abundance of waterfalls and swimming holes

Historically:
>Roanoke Colony (The lost colony)
>First in Flight
>Most reluctant to join the Civil War
>Birthplace of 3 presidents

Today:
>Charlotte has been a banking powerhouse for a while
>Winston-Salem and Greensboro are meh
>Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill are continuing to boom with all the tech jobs.
>Fantastic University's, despite the horrible public school system
>Probably the most liberal southern state
>Anywhere outside the larger cities is still rural and redneck as fuck

All-in-all 8/10. Pretty good for the south

New York fag here. My opinion on this state is that I know nothing about it (except that the Iroquois, the most BAMF of all Northeastern tribes, lived there) because I'm from Jew York City and thus can afford to not give a fuck about the rest of the country.

NYC has as much history as most states though.

Florida

We are the best state - all the crazy shit is from northerners who moved down here or dumped their opiod addicted children here for 'rehab'

I've lived everywhere and there is nowhere else I'd rather be

I'm from PA. I think we're a weird mish mash of country bumpkins, east coast urbanites, and the most depressing aspect of midwest rust belt (once you get wesdt of the appalachians. Our history is one of level headed neo-liberals who don't seem to get much done or have much say in the way the country is run. At the end of the day, we don't need the snobby ass New Englanders and New Yorkers because we're plenty cultured and refined ourselves. We're not afraid of the hard work and traditional hospitality the south is known for and we've certainly got our share of the empty boredom that the midwest brings to mind. Fuck the rest of the country, we're all the best parts combined. Also my hometown of York PA was the first capital of the U.S and Philadelphia is her greatest city.

user where do you think the ghetto trash came from?

Iowa fag here. Winters can be brutal here, but the hospitality is almost unbeatable. But there is also not a lot to do, especially if you live in the smaller towns. Definitely staying in the Midwest the rest of my life.

Personally I disagree. Every state in the union has a unique heritage just not every state has done a good job promoting it to the citizens. I love my home state of Tennessee but I always enjoy visiting the other states and getting to experience their ways too.

I am from texas. I think it is an okay state.

The native american, spanish catholicism and anglo protestants are constantly clashing and intermingling in turns of art and culture so it is a bit fun to analyze at times. My favorite city is San Antonio.

Kentucky.

I personally don't think there is anything interesting here.

Illinois here, near STL (shithole), but countryside.
No blacks or hispanics in rural areas. Illinois is completely rural and agrarian other than a handful of shithole cities scattered about.
Poor, but you don't need a lot to live here. No rat race.
Some aggresive rednecks, most people are mild mannered, laid back. Expect fatties.
Most people are mix of European background. Lots of Irish, Italian, German, even Russian.
The big industries were Coal, Railroads, and Agriculture.
Can't mine coal anymore, railroads needed less, Agriculture is run by corporations like Monsanto. Family farmer being run out of business.
One town won a class action lawsuit against Monsanto. They were spraying chemicals on the fields that upped the birth of Retards in the area.
I've lived in Tennessee (dangerous rednecks and dangerous blacks), Texas (rat race, autistic and tranny kids), Missouri (recommended but stay away from STL), Mississippi (segregated, decent white and black communities in rural areas, poor)
My family is in Illinois, my roots. I have given up on the rat race. Ambition is overrated.

Missouri fag here, can confirm.

Also, your home town is shit.

Texas and it’s interesting honestly. Although most of the history taught in schools romanticized the independence. I’m glad we are a historically rich state, with a very distinctive culture.

For fucking real, get over yourself Texas.

Same. I also like our enhanced driver's license option to get into Canada, have some fun trips there.

Plenty of inland WA and Idaho is pretty redneck. Still probably liberal by Texas standards though.

Overall more religious, and sometimes more polite. Otherwise, I think so. Just as dumb, IME.

I lived in Louisiana for a while for work, but I travelled a fair bit on the job, usually once every few weeks. Between east Texas, Arkanshit, all over MS and AL, sometimes MO, sometimes TN or KY, up to Atlanta (shoot me), or NC if I was lucky.

I should say, I did meet nice fairly intelligent black folks, but there really are lots of nigs about. I was raised in a liberal gee-whiz ain't the world great corner of the midwest. And yes, it's pretty nice.

Oklahoma. Boring ass history. Mound builders??????, "great american desert", Indian removal act, trail of tears, land run, oil, tulsa race riot, grapes of wrath, the Gap Band, OKC bombing, the end.

ayy

Oklahoma is one of the cheapest and is certifiably the nicest (according to several studies) states. Pretty boring outside of college football and NBA basketball though. Wisconsin is a nice place, though it gets cold. People are both nice, low crime, and relatively cheap living.

Area code?

America will not be free until the last T*xan is strangled in the entrails of the last C*lifornian

current? 405. Grew up in the 918.

I’m currently 918

I'm from Maine. Its only redeeming values are painters and Silent Hill, which is based pretty closely around the Augusta Sanitarium.
Historically:
>kkk stronghold, despite being the whitest state
>entire island where race-mixing couples and schizophrenics were sent
>entire bay filled with WWI and WWII battlements that were never used
>first soda, Moxie, used during the civil war as a ration
>originally the "uncharted territory" of Massachusetts
>used lobster as prison food before NY popularized it as a luxury

We're basically the Armenia of the US. Don't come here.

>tfw cottager

Tulsa?

California
>muh gold rush
>muh agriculture

It’s nice in a way that it feels that there is always something to do or something new happening though

Illinois
The southern parts are nice but Chicago is like a foreign land full of brown people with a surreal level of corruption. And the whole rest of the state is dominated by it. It's sad to see.

Yes

>Texas history
>REMEMBER LE ALAMO XD

The only thing Texas has going for it. Luckily I'm from Pennsylvania where you can't go 5 miles without running in to some kind of significant historic site

Idaho here. Nothing exceptional about its history but nothing to be ashamed of or laughed at about either. Also Califags please stay out

Michigan here, our history is super simple: furs, Toledo, and cars. The UP/north west is nice, and south east is pretty bad (at least in my experiance), though it's not detroit-tier everywhere like you might think at first glance.

Nevada here but I'm originally from Jersey. Jersey has a lot more history than Nevada honestly.

The word Idaho was literally made up by a surveyor to disguise the fact that his expeditions had accomplished nothing.

I have seen this post so many times

Honestly upstate new york can be pretty cheap

>I'm from Maine. Its only redeeming values are painters and Silent Hill

Well that and Stephen King

How's Monroe County?

Check for yourself
realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Monroe-County_NY

>that 4 bedroom house for 28k
What's the catch? Was someone murdered there and it was written in blood on the wall that they'd be back?

>Doesn't show inside
It's probably at the brink of collapsing

Despite being on of the most populous states in the Union, Illinois doesn't have mush interesting history beyond some stuff from the Old Northwest period.

My family has deep roots here and I hope I never have to leave. I live happily cocooned in upper-middle class society. Only ever visit other affluent suburbs or the nice, upscale parts of Chicago. The rest of the state could hardly exist for what difference it makes to me. Most of the city is full of poor, stupid minorities and most of downstate is full of poor, stupid whites.

It's shit
t. Ontario County

Mammoth cave is great.
