>Unninstalled twitter, no check it >Unninstalled facebook, only have messenger and whatsapp to talk
>Unninstalled Youtube app (would spend hours per day just scrolling)

Im thinking off just quitting cold turkey and lock my cellphone somewhere and use an old nokia phone for like 30 days, its how I essentially quit gaming(bought laptop that couldnt run it) and its how I quit smoking (didnt have enough money to buy them).
So Im thinking off just being as far away as I can from my vices and then comeback with a more level headed approach? What do you think?
Christopher Myers
The only cure for me was complete abstinence. I had a 'dumb phone' and no computer for a 9 month stretch.
Last year I bought a time locking safe, which as the name implies can be set to lock or open at pre-set times. I tried using it (as my job requires a smartphone) but it ultimately didnt work.
Ethan Howard
Its not that it will hurt but I legit need it for maps and email sometimes, maybe unninstalling the apps, but then I would use a browser..
I need to find a middle level here.
Youre mean
Aaron Scott
There is no middle ground to addiction. People like us were born in the wrong era.
Elijah Miller
So are you addicted again?
How did the 9 month stretch feel? Did you got much done?
Brody Parker
>reddit
your only problem m8
Veeky Forums is a self help site and we sort ourselves out here
as long as your browsing here doesn't consume your life you're fine
Isaiah Watson
I actually use reddit less, I unsubscribed from all, just subbed nootropics and some nature subs
I waste so much time on here tough is crazy, this shit is too addicting and the fucking memes are crack
Cooper Adams
Congrats on your progress.
I found an effective measure was to institute a cell phone curfew. I put my phone in a drawer starting at 7 PM every day.
The mental symptoms your describe (bored, lack of focus) are caused by the constant hyper stimulation of cell phone and computer use. Weening yourself off is difficult, but you'll notice mental improvements as early as two weeks.
Have a plan for what to do with that downtime. Read, go outside, hobby model building, whatever. Idle hands and all that.
Luke Jackson
Yes. I spend most of my free time on my phone now. Though the lack of a computer lowers it from 10/10 to a 6 or 7 in terms of severity.
The 9 months were great. I read many books, vastly improved my social skills by practicing pick up 3-4 nights a week, and getting in great shape. I was unemployed at the time so the free time also contributed greatly to my personal development.
My dream is to live a life that doesnt require having internet. Right now it seems impossible.
Camden Evans
Thanks ill give it a shot!
Landon Watson
Get a hobby. If you just quit the internet, you'll be sitting around doing nothing unless you have something else to keep you occupied.
Also build patience and learn to be okay with a little bit of boredom. You don't need to be stimulated 24/7.
Jaxson Sanders
just go do the shit you're suppose to do today, then do some shit for your own goals
then come here
if you don't set goals you'll never know when and where to start and when and where the fun ends

Realize that your life is better than anybody else's

Dam.
Honestly to me the internet is like having unlimited acess to cocaine.
I just have no self disciplin, and even if I had Im not sure it would be enough, I need to find a grand porpuse or something to keep track off, maybe I need to read some nietcshe or wathever his name is
Yes, this, im gonna start working on it thanks
Brandon Taylor
I understand you. The others here posting simple solutions like "just set a time limit" or "get a hobby" dont. They arent addicts like you and I. We will always be slaves to the internet if its in our presence.
Josiah Barnes
There must be something we can do, the difference is entirelly in how our brains are wired. e.g adhd people
I notice when I wake up and meditate and dont touch my phone I feel a lot better, but after the first click 3 hours go by and the front of my head feels like mush..
The trick in beating this is rewiring our brain, because without the internet we would just be addicted to something else I believe.
Blake Edwards
nofap for a bit, not even memeing
indulge sometimes but less then you'd want to
this goes for EVERYTHING
its been helping me out so much, went from college dropout to acing everything
went from autist neet to working + going to school
and I don't mean to brag, I'm still a failure at a lot of things and lose control sometimes, but I'm working at it
True discipline training.
Jeremiah Myers
1 year of nofap (monkmode) barely did anything to me. I haven't still relapsed and I wont, because there is something to it. Can't exactly tell what.
However. I went cold turkey from the internet, TV and vidya for 2 months. I read around 15 books, could socialise for the first time ever, grades skyrocketed. I felt all of the benefits that people usually boast about nofap. Always felt like I was one step ahead of others. No brainfog whatsoever. THIS is the final redpill.
Will aim for 100 days starting tomorrow. I need to dig deeper. I want to know what a full year of abstinence feels like.
Nicholas Morales
Oh, and since I have no access to a computer for the next 2 months then I'm going to throw my smartphone's battery away (it's fucked anyways) since I have shit tier self-control.
Zachary Jones
>avoided smartphones until friends told me to get a cheap one for WhatsApp last year >now I just spend all say shitposting on /pol/
Not like I wouldn't be doing the same once I get a new comp anyway
Asher Thomas
If it works for you, do it. There's no shame in taking a hard-line cold turkey approach.
Benjamin Parker
shit that seems pretty interesting, kinda hard tho so you just decided one day to quit completely ?
Hunter Johnson
This seems fucking cool.
Elijah Morales
>gets rid of the socially acceptable and normal social media first >stays on the basement dweller Veeky Forums/reddit
what the fuck are you doing
Dominic Sanchez
I think people that get addicted to social media and the internet in general are people without any real meaningful hobbies.
Jordan Garcia
nah, just an addictive personality... enjoying the short term pleasures such as the lulz, baits, (you)s, bants ect instead of dumping their time into something meaningful
me personally, i have a lot of responsibility but i'm constantly procrastinating on the internet, never mind having a high quality hobby
it's why some people can smoke 1 cig a day, and others become chain smokers
Easton Wilson
He doesn't have the option of uninstalling it, cockhead
Jason Rogers
you can easily browse those sites without their apps, additionally you can block certain websites on the phone with parental controls
he just wanted to do Veeky Forums/reddit last, which is a mistake, be real
Evan Anderson
>Never liked Twitter, wasn't hard to delete >Still use Facebook but I don't post as much and I pretty much stopped being autistic on it. >Haven't bothered renewing my PSN account, not a huge fan of online gaming anyway >Have a shit smartphone with barely functioning internet, only use it for really long journeys.
Problems: >Stay in my room with Youtube open on the PlayStation and Veeky Forums or Facebook open on my laptop pretty much whenever I'm not working or working out. Comfy as fuck but I spend way too much time doing this.

Is it a man? Is it a woman? Or is it soy?

Try a Leechblock or something similar. With max settings on the only way to access websites out of set times is through installing another browser. Though since using it I've found resisting the urge to download/install another is easy.
Hudson Nguyen
I didnt delete facebook, only unninstalled the app and have messenger, which is 99% my only use.
James Hernandez
