If you aren't sick of standing around in dusty shitholes carrying a gun yet try maritime security or other international security. They are more restrictive now on applicants but find someone you know who went that route and get them to vouch for you.

I'm Canadian and have not served in the military, but I'm in extremely good shape, well groomed, well dressed, follow etiquette, very direct and forthright, great resume, wide range of skills, positive references, etc. and I run into the exact same problem at nearly every job interview. Always some fat fucking middle-aged HR bitch who you just know is a man-hating feminist type and every single time they hire the rejects over me.

The last company I was at (for about 3 years) I saw first hand who the fatass HR was friends with - the other fat women, a crippled African guy who i think they hired as part of some government wage subsidy program, and the beta soyboy type guys who would orbit around and drink tea and eat muffins every single day. They also did almost no work - the HR department and their friends from other departments, they'd drink and eat for like 4 hours a day, laugh and giggle, they also spread rumors, gossip, and talked shit more than anyone else in the company. Worthless people.

Afghanistan veteran here, I'm guessing you got out recently? There's a time and a place to lean on your military experience and that is only when it is in some way relevant (this is obviously usually going to be personal qualities you developed and not technical skills if you were a grunt like me). Otherwise basically don't talk about it. Nobody cares and you shouldn't either desu, I know it's hard making the transition but after a few years pass you'll have new experiences that will being to define you more as a person.
