Why do they LARP about mass action and lack of hierarchy when an aristocracy/oligarchy is needed to direct the mass man? It's true that for all they preach the benefits of an equal society, many communists have an abnormal lust for power. However, while I agree some of them secretly view themselves as frustrated aristocrats, my theory is that more vanguardists (and a lot of far-right extremists tbf) view themselves as frustrated inquisitors. Online far-left spaces are invariably venomous, backbiting, joyless little bunkers where everyone follows the current commandant's line and anyone who doesn't follow (or is too lax in their devotion) is subjected to struggle session and exile. Everyone outside the in-group's control is utterly depraved and irredeemable, and everyone inside is pure - only they aren't, and so must perpetually be scourged and mortified of their sins/reactionary tendencies. If the world is to be saved, the in-group must seize it entirely and burn everyone and everything that it hates. Then the eschaton will immanentize and the world will know God/full communism - only it never happens, and so the new clergy/politburo have to to take up the weary, difficult burden of torturing and brutalizing humanity until it does - which is really what they wanted to do in the first place. Not that they'll get to, since the only thing they love more than impotent revenge fantasies is attacking each other.

They see the dictatorship of the proletariat as a temporary measure, a way to implement communism, not communism itself. Ofc history has proven that this idea is garbage, but commies believe their ideas are "scientific" so they ignore pesky facts that refute them.

most self professed communist are nothing more than rich kids who think its cool and it makes them appear like edgy and wicked smart people. Its fashion. This is an unintended consequence of the move towards cultural marxism, but it was even in orthodox socialist type groups to. Orwell wrote about how socialist are basically just middle class people who dont love the proles, they just hate the rich in Road to Wigan Pier. And of course that bitter seething hatred is going to taint any supposed utopian sort of system. If you ever find yourself in conversation with one of these people, just mention that you work in construction or a similar blue collar job, even if you dont, and see what sort of reaction you get from them.
