Cicero appreciation thread

>Achieved every office in the Cursus Honorum in his year
>Was a staunch lover of the Republic
>Fought in Spain and took a tour in Greece despite being a devout pacifist
>Was smart enough to realize the First Triumvirate was a threat to the Republic
How can anyone say Cicero wasn't a true hero of Rome?

He was late, his exemplar conduct and reforms would have saved the republic if they occurred 30 years early.

>needed Notes to speak in the Senate
Hahahaha

Is regard as the best speaker of his era, with a single speak he stooped a coup and saved the republic

It's a shame the Cursus Honorum had age restrictions. If only Cicero could have become consul at 23.

you forgot he recognized jews are a fucking cancer on the world

HE

When Sula came to power, the republic destiny as sealed.

Too bad that purging the opposition was more important than the Republic to Marius and Sula. They should have sided with Cicero in reforming the Republic into a body that would never fail, and put in Senators that would never falter

But alas, "Muh unrecognized recognition" was too important to a dirty lieutenant at the time than the Republic

Sula was an great fan of aristocracy, he believed that either blood or money would rule and strongly preferred blood, he was more interested in turning the republic into one than into purging opposition.

I thought he was famed for speaking without notes. Vir bonus dicendi peritus and all that.

Don't forget he stopped a coup.

Kikero kikero kikero

How can anyone forget the time he gave a report and speech that was so well done he caused a man to famously lose his friends and peers one by one whilst the orations were going on

>executed Roman citizens without a trial
he got what he deserved in the end

t. Clodius

t. Catilina

...

>ciarasheep: Cicero was a kike lawyer

Is she right?

Cicero is the ONLY one who gets demonized for it. There's some case that the Senate had given him the authority to do so, but even ignoring that, it was a special circumstance and he felt it was needed. Compare that to Sulla, the 2nd Triumverate, or the various Emperors who had people proscripted for the most arbitrary reasons, and they never get demonized for it.

Weak Whitey hating on black Sards

Cicero was the used car salesman of the Senate desu. Slimy as fuck but charismatic as fuck.

Caesar's reforms were amazing. This moron and the rest of the senate deserved what they got

Because unlike them Cicero was a hypocrite

>Be a sniveling worm willing to do whatever it took to survive and preserve the fucked aristocratic bastardization of a republic
>Oppose land reforms that would've vastly improved the lives of Rome's impoverished citizens
>Flees Rome with the rest of the senatorial cowards, bitches and moans constantly to the point where even his allies dislike him
>Don't even play a part in Caesar's assassination, but immediately cozy up to the conspirators in fear of his own life being taken
>Tries to set Octavian against Antony. Fails miserably and after they unite against the senate sperg out
>REEEEEEE BRUTUS SAVE ME

Cicero never blocked anything. It was Cato that was the blocker.

Cato instigating the civil war has more to do with the fact that he was the primary advocate for charging Caesar with a litany of crimes and ordering he return home as a prisoner.

Caesar was guilty of all those crimes. Is the state just supposed to let anyone do as they wish? Then it's no longer a state and rule of law means nothing.
