After weighted chin ups hit rows. After rows, do lat pull downs. After lat pull downs do unweighted chinups.

Just throw weight around. I've started to notice my back growing from increased frequency and when I do rows, I just go as heavy as I can, fuck form.

But strict form pullups with deliberate descend is a great way to build lower lats and increase thiccness

I heard a body builder say that facepulls are useless because of all the pressing you do as a body builder, so depending on how hard you hit your chest and your frequency of dumbell press verse barbell press (dumbell activating rear delts more) you may not need to. Then again, if you want a HUGE back, they're good for that.

They should do the skinny teenager routine for upper body, i.e. go do it every third week or so with machines and 8 kg dumbbells

I currently do full body 3 times a week, and my boobs actually look a lot better from doing bench press. So don't agree that women shouldn't do anything above the waist.
I need to have a strong back for the sport I do (well everything has to be strong), but I feel like too big traps aren't exactly feminine.

I've tried both, I find the lower cable variety hits my rear delts almost exclusively, whilst the higher cable kind also hits my traps.

I would like to say deadlift, because I love them, but for back gains they are useless, in that case:

Rows, barbell rows and one arm dumbbell rows.

Deadlifts of course.
Several varations of rowing. Barbell, seated cable and dumbell rows are my choice. But most variants are as good as the others.
Pull-ups every workout, and on rest days too. Never to failure. Always stop 1-2 reps short of what you think will be failure.
Learn to do muscle ups too, I haven't found anything else as good to train explosiveness in the lats, which is something people tend to not train with their usual lat work, most explosivness comes in the form of rowing which doesn't work the lats as hard.
