During his rule, Libya (along with Tunis), were the only two African countries with no hunger.

>The Great Man-Made River (GMR, النهر الصناعي العظيم) is a network of pipes that supplies water to the Sahara in Libya, from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System fossil aquifer. It is the world's largest irrigation project.

>According to its website, it is the largest underground network of pipes (2,820 kilometres (1,750 mi)) and aqueducts in the world. It consists of more than 1,300 wells, most more than 500 m deep, and supplies 6,500,000 m3 of fresh water per day to the cities of Tripoli, Benghazi, Sirte and elsewhere. One of the founders of the project, Muammar Gaddafi, described it as the "Eighth Wonder of the World."

He was a tyrant and terrorist supporter.

>In the Green Book, Gaddafi offers to create a special hierarchical structure of people's congresses and committees, resulting in a system where "management becomes popular, control becomes popular, and the old definition of democracy as 'control of people over the government' is replaced by its new definition as 'the people's control over itself'."

>"The only means of people's democracy are the people's congresses. Any other system of government is undemocratic. All existing world systems of government are undemocratic, if they do not adhere to this method of governance. People's congresses are the ultimate goal of the movement of peoples on the path to democracy. People's congresses and people's committees represent the end result of the peoples' struggle for democracy. "

>In the Jamahiriya, the entire population is divided into People's Congresses, which elect the People's Committees, which in turn form the second round of the People's Congresses, which elect the State Committees, which fulfil the function of state administration. Issues considered at the People's Congresses are finally formulated each year at the General People's Congress. Accordingly, the outcomes and decisions of the General Congress are brought to the lower levels in the reverse order.

>At the General People's Congress, which gathers together the governing bodies of the people's congresses, the people's committees, the trade unions and the professional associations, the most important public issues are discussed and the definitive legislative decisions are made.

>Jew lies

>Gaddafi enjoyed sending his men to abduct children from schools so he could rape them in a bizarre sex dungeon in a bunker with 70s decor reminiscent of his younger days and a doctor's room to inspect them for disease

hey there schlomo whatcha doin

Wasn't Libya technically the only functional socialist country in the world?

Yes. Which is why the media never talks about Libya.

I've been repeatedly assured that the media are all raging lefties if not outright communists. Surely they should be glorifying Libya around the clock?

Do you've an answer, Gaddafi dickriders?

The medias aren't communists, most of them are neo-liberals

Using him as a example for proof of socialism or good post colonial government is like using the saudis or gulf states as proof of monarchy. Low population high oil covers a multitude of problems - if you want to see truely impressive post colonial leaders look to Lee Kwan Yue or the men who emerged in Rawanda and Botswana.

Though at one stage ghadafi had good ideas he threw them away and created another dictatorship made worse as it was prefaced on the country beeing so divided that no one but him could run it.

All this not to mention the hypocrisy and humiliation with Chad

He admited supporting abuch of groups that did terror attacks.

Reminds me of Democratic Confederalism:

>In contrast to a centralist and bureaucratic understanding of administration and exercise of power confederalism poses a type of political self-administration where all groups of the society and all cultural identities can express themselves in local meetings, general conventions and councils. This understanding of democracy opens the political space to all strata of the society and allows for the formation of different and diverse political groups. In this way it also advances the political integration of the society as a whole. Politics becomes a part of everyday life.

It had a strong welfare state and most citizens had all their basic needs met. He didn't consider himself a socialist, tho. He saw himself as the frotrunner of the next big thing, a third way ideology.

He was imperialistic and islamistic but, luckily not very competent as a military leader and kept getting his ass handed to him on fights he picked.

A great based man who was taken out by the jew, RIP

>The virgin Gaddafi versus the chad Chad

When the Obama and Co. started destabilizing Libya, they need to make him seem as evil as possible, its not fair what they did to him.

>During the same period, however, Gaddafi was very clear in expressing his anti-Communism. In 1971, he sent a plane full of Sudanese Communists back to Sudan where they were executed by Nimeiry. In 1973 the regime published an official document to commemorate the fourth anniversary of Gaddafi’s rise to power, under the title “Holy War Against Communism” in which we read that, “the biggest threat facing man nowadays is the communist theory.”

>The Nixon administration, in spite of Gaddafi having expelled US bases, saw him as a beneficial influence in the Arab world, precisely because of his anti-communism. This was expressed also on the international arena. Initially Gaddafi was not pleased at Egypt’s close relationship with the Soviet Union. In the Yemen he was for unification of the North and South, but on the basis that the South should abandon its pro-Moscow stance. He supported Pakistan against India in the 1971 war on the basis that India was aligned with the Soviet Union.

He didn't grab power to advance socialism, he used socialism as an ideological smokescreen to justify his power grabs.

Better picture.

Why did he kill Musa Sadr tho

these things happened in the 70s, is it conceivable that he could have changed since then?

How did this even happen? There must be more to this story

freedom fighters != terrorists

France aided Chad.
Libya would have won if they didn't, IIRC Libya had captured half of Chad before the frogs got involved.

Strange... Nobody has answers

Has anybody read his book?

so functional that still it hasn't regained its path
the "new man" of socialism hasn't regained his senses and is still warring his fellow countrymen in Lybia... therefore, that socialism was just a facade held together by Gaddafi's rule.

That’s a very flawed view of the war to the point of being deceptive.

That light green territory / half that country was occupied by Chadian rebels which Gaddafi was propping up. These rebel’s eventually united with the government when the realised Lybia was trying to steal Chadian land and puppet them - ie be imperialists. Without these rebels lybia lost its local knowledge/ intel and motivated soldiers. Which is how chad managed to fuck them up despite being outnumbered 3 to 1 and the French refusing to give them the proper tools to shoot down lybian jets all whilst fighting the wealthiest country in all of Africa. French support was fairly minor - to the point where the Chadians believed the French were not really behind them and it strained relations.

Look at great victories in the battles of the Toyota war and you will see it was Chadian effort and lybian incompetence that did it.

Imagine a Tet offensive but where the the south vietnamese had allied with the north.

they're only freedom fighters if they win

Both were pretty influenced by anarchist thought.

The frog.

Yes, it’s got a standard criticism of western style democracy with a proposed solution for introducing true democracy via specia types of councils. Also has some weird stuff about menstration

>He was imperialistic
What the fuck are you talking about. Gaddafi was anti-imperialist to the bone. He died fighting the imperialists. So how can you call him imperialistic?

There's nothing "third way" about Ghaddafi. "Third way" is a mixture of socialism and capitalism. Ghaddafi's ideology was economic socialism combined with direct democracy in politics.

Cool, like we give a shit about faggot Marxists and their asshurt about Gaddafi.

Arab imperialism

He spent his time trying to expand his influence through military and paramilitary means. He spent more time and money trying to kill blacks and Christians than he did westerners. Fortunately, he turned out to be a pretty bad general.

He started as a capitalists, but the west wouldn't do trade with him because he appropriated Italian assets in Libya, so he had to turn to the soviets for help. But he was constantly decrying communism all the time. He started nationalizing companies and putting friends and relatives in charge, these weren't managed by workers at all.

And the popular assemblies didn't have power, the unelected revolutionary assemblies (packed with cronies of the regime) overruled the people all the time.

Also, don't forget to leave out Islamism because that he is pretty important to his ideology, as delineated in the Green Book.

I literally just finished watching Adam Curtis' HyperNormalistion. Gave me feels for Gaddafi desu

Pretty good documentary, but what about those feels? It isn't like Curtis makes him look good.

Except he was also virulently nationalistic and pan-Arabic, and applied this to his pseudo-democratic system in which he himself held power.
He is completely third way, have you even read his book? He himself calls his Jamahiriya 'the third intern', an alternative to socialism and capitalism.
He was imperialistic in the sense that his intention was to build a pan-Arabic state that would become something akin to local power. Not to mention his dreams of becoming a pan-African leader later on.

>anything remotely slanderous is kike lies
hey ahmad whatcha doin

Gaddafi was not pan african, he was faking for his interests.

Is this what it feels like to swallow the Gaddaffi kool aid?

Answer : Gaddafi is an hypocrite.

>believing this unironically

Is it true his real dad was a Corsican pilot?

Let me guess you are a fan of the North Korean leaders as well?

Pic related some words of wisdom from the Unabomber.

Hillary should really be prosecuted IMHO.
