Abos get a bad rap, but honestly they were just dealt a shit hand from the beginning. It's not easy building civilization in a place that not only has no domesticable native wildlife, but no domesticable plants either. They couldn't stop being hunter-gatherers even if they wanted to. And it's not like they fucking sat on their asses for 40,000 years. They terraformed an entire continent, using fire to propagate the environments and species they liked, and getting rid of the ones they didn't. The ones in Victoria built dams and weirs to farm eels. It is weird they never invented bows, but it's possible that with woomeras they never needed them.

The only real deficiency in Aboriginie culture is how stingy they are about sharing their cultural practices, which makes recording their culture and religion for posterity difficult. At this rate it'll probably be lost forever once their languages die out.
