It take 2-3years to "officially" change your gender in the military. This whole time they will still be considered a female while receiving test injections. This is a huge deal. That's 3 years time to receive meritorious promotions, awards, and other bullshit that positively affects their careers. Females are already on easy mode recieving preference for promotions and awards simply because they're a female. FtM here. Brief run-down of what the FtM community is like. It's nothing to envy, I promise.

1- Most proclaimed 'FtMs' you see on Tumblr are girls who love yaoi/slash fiction.
At some point, they decide they need to 'legitimize' their obsession with gay porn. Que getting a blue mohawk and demanding to be called a man despite making no other effort to be male. They throw huge fits in communities about how they should be allowed to dress like girls/not transition but still be called men. Will usually take T for 6 months and panic when they get facial hair.

2- A second type of FtM usually starts off as a butch lesbian social media personality. These people usually have Youtube channels and wear backwards snap-back and act like they are authority on all things 'FtM.' Make long-winded videos about their 'journey.' A good 50% of the time, they try to cling to the lesbian community they were a part of pre-transition and then get pissed when T takes effect, makes them masculine, and lesbians no longer want them. Que bitching.

3- Both 1 and 2 will get tired of the effort it takes to be male because being a man is socially more difficult than they anticipate + their SJW friends value men's opinions less. Because both 1 and 2 are attentionwhores by nature, this drives them batshit. This is when they will claim to be 'non-binary' instead. They will then insist that they are more oppressed then the FtMs who live as men because ew, patriarchy! For some reason, they are still allowed to be in FtM-only spaces and use our resources.
