Norse Gods

I’m not sure if this is the right place but it’s probably the best place to ask.

Did the Nordic peoples worship gods of multiple ethnicities because they traveled so far around the world?

No

Why did they worship other ethnicities, then?

they thought crosses were neat. stole a lot of them.

Which ethnicities do you think Scandinavians worshipped?

Greek and roman gods were nords

Those movies are based on a comic book made for children.

Who cares? They're not attempting to be historically accurate or represent history.

Africans, mostly, because of their virility, but also Asians and Arabs (because they fought Christians).

Why would Mediterranean peoples worship pale whites?

>WE

>Why would Mediterranean peoples worship pale whites?
It contrasted well with their zany 100 Crayola pack style of painting.

>Africans, mostly, because of their virility, but also Asians and Arabs (because they fought Christians).

No but Romans did. For example a Syrian Sun God named Sol Invictus became popular near the end of the Pagan era

leave

And he was made into Jesus Christ

all caps when you spell the man's name

It's a legit question and not an unusual thing among polytheistic cultures.

>who cares if the jews undermine europes identity and rewrite its history

The history that the Norse worshipped an ethnically Norse pantheon, I mean. In before some sophist replies.

>an ethnically Norse pantheon
Nigger, what the fuck do you even think this means? Norse gods aren't biologically related to humans and don't live with humans. In what sense could they be ethnically Norse? That's like saying Yahweh is ethnically Jewish. Obviously Norse pagans wouldn't have visualized their gods as Asians because they didn't even know about Asian people, but they do you really think they were autistically hung up on issues like what kind of facial structure Odin had? Not to mention how retarded it is to consider a religion that hasn't been relevant for centuries, was never accepted by most of Europe, and whose adherents didn't give a shit about most of Europe to be a vital aspect of "europes identity."

Hell, they're not even trying to accurate represent Norse mythology.

>who hurt you
Never relized this before but it's always the soyest of soyboys who say this shit. Or women.

>Those movies are based on a comic book made for children.
The same applies to 300 but Iranians still threw a shitfit over it.

First of all, most characters in the Norse mythology had a well described set of features, often fair haired and light eyed.

Second of all, Marvel took almost the entire Norse mythology into their fictive world. With their Gods, their names, their attributes but made it into a goofy multicultultural space opera with aliens.

Sure, you can argue that it is not the "original" but they essentially took something of a people and then mutilated it. It's very weak to hide behind "it's just aliens in a comic bro".

Reminder that Thor "had" red hair

They didn't..ever. They were interested and often took home things of religious value but thats it. The only religous change ever was to Christianity.

Read one of those things with all the paper..

That's based on Scythian/Sarmatian clothing. That's quite literally how they dressed.

The Norse pantheon is basically the same as the Saxon pantheon, the Saxons would make Britain. Britain would make America, and therefore it is the only pantheon that matters.

No, why would they? Do other ethnicities worship strangers? Every religious group I can think of, with the possible exception of Tibetan Buddhists (who don't really count because Tibet is China) venerate people who look like taller, fancier versions of themselves.

This bait... this bait is true bait.

>Africans, mostly, because of their virility, but also Asians and Arabs (because they fought Christians).
Well, you tried. Have your third (You).

In the areas they settled, yes.
The areas they raided, not so much.

There's actually serious debate as to whether or not Odin was an ancient Turkish chieftain, similar to how Santa is the Turkish Saint Nicholas.

It's the standard Indo-european pantheon, same as the Greek one but with quite a lot of variation. Like the thunder god Thor/Zeus is relegated to lesser importance in Norse mythology, while Odin who seems to be related to the Greek god Hermes(associated with death and travelers) is the chief god.

>ancient Turkish chieftain
I want to see unbiased sources for those claims buddy. Also, Nikolaos of Myra was Greek. Just because Myra is now Demre and Turkish, doesn't mean that Turks can claim Nikolaos as Turkish. That's some WE WUZ bullshit right there bucko.

Anatolia existed before Turks you know

The characteristic pragmatism of the norsemen played a big role in their view of other religions as well as their view on other cultures.
In the same way that nordic warriors could pledge allegiance to the king of Constantinople and be sworn to a Scandinavian chieftain back home, they were known to keep both their native gods but also the regional gods of where they travelled.
Their general mindset would have been sort of "Since this god (wether it be Allah or Christ, etc) is so revered in these parts he must be very powerful here, and a god powerful enough to compete with the Aesir over this part of Midgard would best not be left out of our sacrifices and prayers."

>Africans
>virility
Africa had the lowest birth rates in the world until the 20th century

No, he wasn't, retard. No respectable historian believes that.

scandinavians usually aren't pale skinned for whites.

I am bait; destroyer of threads

My name is Patrick Baitman king of threads, look upon my bait ye forum and despair

Just like all those Chink cartoons that use Norse mythology are undermining their cultural identity right?

Zeus Pater is also the Sky Father, not just the Thunderer. However Zeus doesn't have the Hero aspect of Thunor, which is instead in Heracles.

No. I mean from actually scientific sources that do not come from Turkey. What the fuck is wrong with you when you think unbiased means dailystormer?

>implying snorri sturlasson didn't write that to undermine the norse faith

That dude isn't a Norse god though.
