Germans in Poland and Czechoslovakia both were used as an excuse to invade both countries, and both of those ethnic minorities eagerly assisted the Third Reich in their invasions AND collaborated with them against their legal governments. It was both justice and a prudent preventive measure to remove them so they could never be used to justify German aggression again.

I should clarify. The German minority in Poland not only actively assisted the German invasion, they had been setting themselves up as a 5th Column for years before the war. They were the ones compiling lists of Polish intellectuals that they happily handed over to the SS and then assisted them in rounding up and shooting everyone on those lists. The German minority in Poland actively aided the Holocaust, and actively benefited from it (since it was designed to give Poland to them for them to populate). Of all the purges, theirs was the most justified.

It can be probably argued that German minority in Poland was actually widely even involved with atrocities when you count how many served in Selbstschutz or in other 5th column organizations.

Why Prussia? Pomerania? You probably meant just the Western Pomerania and we both know the answer to that. Silesia is a split as it's a pretty historically comples region shared between three countries.

And the event you're refering to took place AFTER the invasion (and I don't have caps lock large enough to stress this) and was actually a German diversion aided by chaos, panic and misinformation of the first days of German invasion used by Goebbels. No one believed him except a couple of nazi worshippers in modern era. What a weird story.
Of course nothing about any "oppression" going on before the war. What's more we don't even have anything coming from Hitler & friends that would suggest that he was aware of it or saw it as a problem. The press is also silent about it, the League of Nations, and what we know about the meeting between Polish and German ministers which they were doing untill well into 1939.

Why did Prussia insist on keeping all that anyway? I get why they might want a direct land connection to East Prussia but the rest seemed to be a liability. Why not just make a separate crownland in "personal union" with the King of Prussia, like Hungary was under the Habsburgs?

Don't know about Poland, but Germans in Czechoslovakia were amongst the best treated minorities in Europe. They had state-paid universities, state-paid cultural events and communities, German political parties and what not. Their grievances were the fact that they had to learn Czech (which is not the easiest language) if they wanted to work in bureaucracy and the fact that that land reform stripped nobility, which was mostly German, of the absurd amount of land it owned. They were arguably less opressed than they were under Hitler. The problem wasn't that they were oppressed, the problem was that they could not oppress native population.

What the Germans did to Poland in WW2 was probably the single most horrifying thing done in European history, a level of destruction and horror our modern lives have never known nor ever will.
And it wasn't just a handful of Germans that did it, it was the entire populace, the entire government, the entire military.
Every German speaking person was responsible in some shape or fashion for the horrors that happened.
In the first month of the invasion, the Germans killed between 150-200k civlians, often target civilian towns with absolute no military value or industrial value and completely leveling them.

Not even a true genocide on the Germans would save one of the dullest regimes in the history of totalitarian states.
