Were there any good guys in WW2? Axis were all totalitarians. UK was a colonial empire, same as France. USA was a global hegemon, enforcing its will over South America and Pacific via a pile of corpses. China was completelly totalitarian.
Was there anyone in WW2 with "clean hands"? I was thinking maybe Tibet. Then again, to my knowledge, Tibet was not part of WW2. Was there a democratic government with no oppresive policies performed to be found during WW2?
Since when is being Colonialist or Hegemonic bad? If that were true then being weak would be the only virtue. Also Finland
Michael Hill
>good guys get lost.
Jeremiah Lopez
finland was probably the closest you'll get to a 'major' belligerent that came away with relatively clean hands and international reputation. not saying they were perfect but they weren't "that" bad.
Isaac Gutierrez
The US was clean and pure, faggot. Oh sure, they may have roasted a little meat here, there and well, probably everywhere, but nobody's perfect.
Joshua Gutierrez
>Was there a democratic government with no oppresive policies performed to be found during WW2? Ireland and Sweden Denmark behaved quite well considering they were collaborating with the Axis
Logan Hill
>USA was a global hegemon Not until after the war and they had to share with the Soviets
Ryder Hughes
The US and UK were good guys. As were all UK dominions.
Xavier Sullivan
The UK was most definitely not a good guy.
Henry Lee
Canada. Obviously.
We politely waited 2 weeks after the UK to declare war on Germany.
Our navy was most responsible for convoy escorts.
We liberated the Netherlands.
We house Nazi POWs in the prairie provinces and allow them to work on farms in some cases.
We had an entirely volunteer army. While conscription was put in place, due to protest no conscripts were sent into battle/overseas.
Dylan Baker
Why not?
Liam Fisher
They were better than the Germans and the Japs at least
Michael Hall
In my hometown(Canada) we hold our yearly carnival in the old POW camp. Some of the old buildings are still there.
I couple years ago some german note fell down from the rafters.
Levi Anderson
From Best to Worst: Canada Australia New Zealand UK France Finland US China Soviet Union Italy Vichy France Germany Japan
Daniel Allen
Poland. And WWII ended on 21 october 1963
Sebastian Rivera
Are you talking during WWII or after? I fail to see what the US did wrong other than if you want to argue that they dis-proportionally favored Britain despite maintaining neutrality.
Luis Hall
>equating good with democratic and equating anything anti-democratic as bad
USA were the good guys though, they are only a global power in the sense that they try to liberate oppressed people from authoritarianism and dictatorships.
Caleb Powell
Sweden acted like kikes, their ore made the Nazi war effort possible.
Connor Campbell
Unironically Poland, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Estonia, Luxemburg, Denmark, Norway and Greece. These nations did literally nothing wrong and had to suffer because ideological niggers obsessed with clay wanted war and bloodshed for "muh aesthetic unifroms n'shiet" Fuck warmongering niggers and death to all of them.
If nothing he did the most good to the world killing soviets
Chase Smith
>UK above US >China as a single entity >Soviets above Italy >Soviets above anybody >Finland not at the top >France even on the list Can it get any worse?
Austin Watson
Ah yes, the 21st of October 1963, the first recodred instance of the word "beetlemania". When The Daily Mail was sent out on that day, the world knew that the war had truly ended.
Adam Brooks
What did the soviets do that was that bad? I know that their soldiers and ex POWs raped many German and Polish women, but over 4000 of them were prosecuted for it which is far more than the 69 americans who were brought to court marshall for war crimes against germans, which totally happened. It's not like they intentionally firebombed entire cities constructed out of wood to dust, murdering hundreds of thousands of non combatants, and then for kicks dropped two nuclear weapons. They also didn't intentionally genocide any country during the war.
Anthony Morales
>Czechoslovakia, Finland, Estonia, Luxemburg, Denmark, Norway These were the only democratic nations out of all of those you listed though
Kevin Allen
Oh boy it's another "Who were the objective good guys in history" thread. Commit suicide.
Though if France cucked Germany less the Nazis probaby wouldnt come to power. They should have just taken the french parts of Alsace and the Ruhr valley occupation was probably a mistake
Blake Myers
>Tibet >not a totalitarian medieval theocratic hellhole
Dominic Anderson
they raped russian and bayoneted russian children they started the war against russia contrary to popular belief
Lincoln Nguyen
No, they were the same as the Germans and Japs, imperialist warmongers, murdering all who got in their way, and inventing concentration camps.
Jayden Hill
The good guys were the nations who ended up being occupied by both the Axis and the Allies.
Christian Sanders
>Le Liberte, Egalite, Fraterinite! >Except for le Arab or le Indochinois. Dey be not pipol!
I'd say probably Canada, although you can always pick nits.
Adrian Rivera
Soviets. Government put into power by popular revolt against a tyrannical regime, literally dindu nuffin as Stalin was a pretty cautious man. Yes, the purges were pretty bad but it was mostly military officers affected by them. They didn't get anywhere close to the UK's concentration camps over in South Africa or the US's ones for Japs.
Also they were attacked first. They were literally willing to just stand there until Adolf decided to sperg out and attack for no reason.
Josiah Carter
>Were there any good guys in WW2? Yes, everyone.
Carter Allen
>Tibet >Good guys with clean hands >Implying that the religious upper class didn't live with obscene amounts of luxury and possessions compared to their completely impoverished people.
Christopher Garcia
You mean the government that was abducting all aboriginal children from their families?
Jose King
Used slave labour.
Jose Watson
>I couple years ago some german note fell down from the rafters. Should have used it as a toilet paper
Hudson King
Finland is atleast in top 3.
Leo Butler
The problem is seeing WWII in hindsight, as some kind of historical set piece in which there are good guys and bad guys. In reality, it was a complex series of events that happened at the same time, many of which had nothing to do with one another. We talk about the Japanese war in China, for example, in the same breath as the German invasion of the Soviet Union. But they had almost nothing to do with one another except temporally.
Jeremiah Thompson
>genocide I would suggest reading a bit more history.
Hudson Harris
Or basically enslaved them by handing them out to farmers for work?
Kayden Collins
>Since when is being Colonialist or Hegemonic bad It takes a special type of clod to ask this kind of question.
Unless you're some kind of civilizationist poseur espousing not-too-subtle supremacist sentiments.
