There are dozens of ways of doing curls and to actually have your biceps grow you need to do at least 3, ideally 5, to both hit fast twitch and slow twitch fibres on your long head, short head and on your m.brachialis.

You do your chin ups and your curls exactly the same way, on the same path, with the same speed and with no control of the eccentric part.

I actually do hammer curls exclusively, and your run of the mill chin-ups
