On a more real note, going off of what I've seen on this board and barring opinions of /b/ or /r9k/ posters who just want something to put your dick in, the idea of a 2D waifu is more esoteric than just being a cartoon. Most people associate their waifu with their ideals and perfection, basically just giving a face voice and personality to whatever they see as the perfect woman.
