if OLY is your thing, they're a good investment. I have some powerlifting shoes, and they didn't do fuck all for squat/bench/dead. If your goals are powerlifting, you'd be better off with some wrestling shoes.
you should have figured that out before buying them, so regardless of if they're good or not - you're still a retard.
They don't sell oly shoes anywhere were I live, and I didn't think buying a slightly cheaper one was smart since I wouldn't get the full experience, I decided to go all out
my ankle mobility is shit, they helped me squat deeper
They are very good and worth the money
So you paid extra for something you didn't know was a good buy or not? Brilliant.
Would you rather pay slightly less for a shit tier one and then have to pay AGAIN more for a good one? I just saved myself like a 100 bucks
>I didn't know if either product was a good buy, so I bought the more expensive product just in case
>I just saved money
Can't you see that what you just greentext makes sense in the long run?
So what's the difference between the Adipower, the Power Perfect 2 and the Powerlift 3.1?
The difference in price is huge.
what are you current lifts? not bench etc. what's your power clean and snatch?
chances are you didn't need to spend 200$ because i'm assuming your form is shit anyways

For what purpose did you buy them? Do you /need/ them?
Do you do Oly lifting? Do you have shitty mobility?
I have the same shoes, they're super fucking high quality.
good buy OP, I love mine
good
fuck off nerd
Higher quality materials by far, also the powerlift has a slightly shorter heel, some CrossFit fags like that one better. I think adipower is the best choice, you can use a fucking Chuck Taylor's for deadlift and you already have the ultimate setup
make me, retard
Kiss me, faggot
What do you think of using oly shoes for deadlift? The super loved Rippedtoe said they are fine since it engages more quads
nigga that's gay
There's some debate going on, most people use Taylors for deadlift and heeled shoes for everything else
you could have just used your regular manlet shoe lifts when you wear your hightop sneakers to the gym
great shoes, i have the white ones. the all black ones look better in my opinion though.
i got them back when i was just doing strength stuff and my squat form became so much stronger after i adjusted to wearing them. now i do olympic weightlifting and they are great obviously. been using them for a couple of years and apart from being scuffed there is no damage
Jesus christ lad, get some common sense.
I know the adipower have better quality but Clarence Kennedy uses a 2nd hand pair ofPower Perfect 2 for everything, deadlift included... So... Yeah
I've got both adipowers and powerlifts, and the adipowers are much higher quality
Have you tried deadlifting on them?
I have ones that were in promotion for like 64€ in the adidas official website
used them for awhile and seemed good but the rubber thing on the back got me wondering if they handle really heavy weights
only did around 125kg with them before having a motorcycle accident and then I also had a cut so I stopped using them but now that im back to bulking and getting stronger will test them once I hit 3pl8
Anyone?
Fuck me tho
You couldve put some small plates under your heels when you squat and see how it feels.
You could have also just gotten a big heel athletic shoe for $50USD and tested them.
I used to use big heels, now I go as flat as possible.
Good luck though, retarded user.
Adipowers can be found on Ebay for cheaper, but they are some pretty solid shoes.
>Not lifting with socks
> Using socks instead of a good shoe
KEK
You probably won't need another pair for 10 to 15 years, I think it's a fair investment
disgusting
I used to do this sometimes
This
Best investment I ever made.
only paid $125 CAD ($100 usd) for my adipowers, the way they look alone is worth it (red/black)
I've done the plate thingy, didn't buy manlet heels though. I don't know, I think it is not gonna be the same a top fucking notch shoe compared to your garbage methods.
you fucking idiot.
What's wrong with just barefoot/socks ?
Same as lifting with running shoes, nothing. There simply are way better options that are not expensive. Say, Chuck Taylor's, pretty much the go to for everyone who doesn't want to pay a thousand bucks like op
>lift in socks
>slip
>snap spine
>face crushed
I have adidas leistung which have an even higher heel and i actually prefer deadlifting in them over bare feet. The whole 'legpress' idea of deadlift never clicked with me, till I started doing them with oly shoes. Squat feels a lot more comfortable obviously (Long legs while 6'2 and not great ankle mobility). was going to pick up adipowers because i read quite a lot stuff about power perfect quality, but got lucky with finding these very very cheap in my size (Get a size bigger than your normal shoes probably)
Spending a fortune on shoes you’ll have to replace in six months.
Why? Just drop $40/$50 on a pair of Asics and call it a day.
you have obviously never lifted in weightlifting shoes if you think that there is no difference between lifting in a pair and running shoes
this applies to me.
timestamp basically. if your legs are 'good' ratios then there's no problem at all and there's quite a bit of people who prefer flat over heels, for people with longer femurs and shorter torso that changes and video does a good job of showing why. It basically gives you free ankle mobility and makes it easier to balance, while not needing to fold yourself in half
>its more expensive therefore its inherently better
Wow youre never going to make it...Learn to shop around and do due diligence
You are a disgusting retard, Adipowers and Romaleos are the biggest names for weightlifing shoes. Go lift a dick, cuck
Unless youre competing in OLY comps or have mobility issues theres no reason to drop hundreds of dollars on OLY shoes when a normal pair of thin soled shoes like Chucks will do. Yes your lifts might be a few kgs less but just keep training and you will progress like normal. If you really want wedged heels for squat/dead just use 1/2kg micro plates under your heels. You could probably even buy the micro plates and chucks for less than the OLY shoes themselves
>You think there is no difference
When did I say that? I simply stated that a pair of chucks is WAY better than barefoot and that for most casual lifter, going further like OP is not worth it
cool story...i dont ego lift or have mobility issues so like everyone else on Veeky Forums outside of /PLG/ i dont have any need for OLY shoes. Do you have serious mobility issues? Are you going to be doing any snatches or C&J? If so are you going to be competing properly? Unless the answer to those questions was yes then theres no need to buy them
Get some indoor cleats op shit is like super glueing your feet to the ground.
Do you REALLY need toilet paper? Can't you just gather some leafs? Do you REALLY need shoes, can't you just wrap your feet with garbage?
I like lifting, I want lifting shoes other than chuck taylors
you do realise that those shoes are designed for OLY lifts and nothing else right?
>pic related
you got conned into a purchase you dont actually need and now your getting defensive about it with strawman arguments instead of owning your mistake
Thanks, were you able to lift more or less?
>Checkmate
I never realised someone could be this retarded
>Pic related
>Picture of shoes with no heel doing a deadlift
TOP KEK
i have romelaeos and theyre a decent buy. Bench arch is easier and doing high bar squats is like a piece of cake.
i got the adipowers exclusively for squats, theyre great
tried it with a plate below my heels, worked wonders, instantly ordered them when i got back home
Do you use em for other lifts? If not, what do you use
Not him, same situation, I wear them for all squatting and bench variations. I used to lift barefoot and the shoes give crazy stability when benching, it's like you're stuck to the floor. Squatting just feels more natural in general and I can go ATG with almost zero buttwink because the shoes keep me upright.
Sounds pretty dank, haven't heard a single complain about the shoes other than price. I just wonder how they feel with deadlifts, barbell rows and romanian deadlifts
Very weird for all of the above and would not recommend. You can get away with using them for rows but in my experience they give me a tiny bit of lower back rounding. You absolutely shouldn't deadlift with them, you will lift less weight.
i put em off for things like diddlies and rows (only socks then), everything thats better done with a flat foot
so for bench and lat pulldown you can keep em on, you get the idea
Thanks for input, I wanna try em for all lifts tho. Specially for deadlift since I think using more quads is a good tradeoff
I've had my adipowers (red ones) for 4 years and they have held up since. worth it.
Then pull sumo or do a different exercise.
Anyone else wear these everywhere?
I used to wear my orange ones to the mountains and they sucked ass for hiking but damn I loved wearing them anyway
Everyone knew I could squat them for an easy set of five wherever I went
What's the consensus on these for squatting, do you eventually need them to do good/heavy (non-lowbar) squats/front squats? Specifically if you have long legs, good ankle dorsiflexion and hip/thoracic mobility.
Plates/boards under my feet just seemed to put more tension through the knees. Don't think it helped my form but I did have some other issues there.
So how badly fucked up are they now?
You don't need anything to squat heavy but it's a good idea to try them eventually because the angle can increase power output and the stability is a huge plus.
why would you replace them in 6 months. Unless you're a teenager with growing feet (in which case you don't need lifting shoes) a pair will last you many years.
OP made the thread thinking he was right right from the get go,whats teh point
the sole completely wore down to the plastic near the heel
tears in some places
Good for training your pull off the floor, since the shoes are effectively a 1/2-1" deficit.
Do people really deadlift in squat shoes?
Not common practice. Alan Thrall, Clearance Kennedy and Rippetoe do. You won't be crazy if you do it too, it engages more the quads. Do whatever floats your boat
I have the black and white adipowers and I fucking love them! I haven't regret buying them once, and they've endured a year of very consistent use with literally no wear and tear (I only use them at the gym).
That said, I do wish that I'd done a bit more research before I splurged because it's a fucking insane amount of money for something so simple.
PSA: Converse makes Converse 70s, which are basically vintage versions that aren't shit quality. The canvas is thicker, they have a bit of cushioning, they're awesome. Just make sure you wear socks that cover your achilles tendons, otherwise the thicker canvas will blister them. I wear mine everywhere from the street to the weight room.
There are deadlifting shoes for that price, the point of buying chuck taylors is money, if you wanna pay like 100$ buy deadlift shoes
Reassurance? Most people like that after paying so much for shoes that are gonna be worn like an hour a day
Fucking idiot
Were you memeing?
>Top kek
Tom Martin wears them so yes they are good
do you wear yours when you surf the 'ch0n?
retard
no u
I'm 6'4" with long-ass femurs and got sick of squatting with little plates under my heels. My squats and power cleans got so much better and heavier in just 3 months just from being able to stand way more solidly. For other stuff I'll just wear Chucks though, wearing "pro gear" makes me feel like a DYEL goon.
Anyone knows any good deadlifting shoes other than Chucks and Sabo?
Wrestling shoes?
More. Going back up steadily again now (While cutting). Feels like I could make bigger jumps but want to take it easy. Do keep in mind I'm a dyel who only didlies 3.5pl8 so my opinion is invalid.
Yes. It actually makes it so my legs serve a function. It's not that I don't have a choice either seeing I train at home and could go barefoot if I want to. It makes the initial pull faster and easier and then once the bar leaves the floor everything else is easy for me.
To be fair I know how much better it feels for me, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable paying as much as OP for some. I got really lucky and ended up paying €65 euros (inc shipping) from some specialty store
$85. And the point is that they're versatile as fuck and look good when they get beaten up, so your need to wear other types of shoes for other occasions drops immensely.
consumerism idiot
Why would you replace these in six months? What the fuck are you doing in weightlifting shoes that would wear them down that much? Surely you're not wearing your weightlifting shoes outside of the gym like some fucking weirdo.
>less than 200 usd
>a fortune
lmao thrid worlder
