Unfortunately no. A lot of the supervisors have though because they can get away with that stuff. We did have the "Liquor Olympics" though. We kept all of our confiscated alcohol in an empty room so by the end of a really skeevy concert we had a mountain of bottles and cans. Basically the supervisors would put it into a mountain at the end of the concert hall and everyone would start at the other side of the room and sprint for the liquor mountain. Whoever got there first would have first dibs over what they wanted to grab which was usually Grey Goose or something expensive. The fatties got stuck with cans of beer or half drunk bottles of Fireball whiskey.

A large portion of nightclub security are full-time students that do the job because it works with school hours and helps support them while going through school. Working security at a nightclub is also not typically full-time hours. Most bouncers have a day job outside of their security gig. They either do the job to help make ends meet, or they do it because they enjoy the job. I personally really enjoy the job because it helps get me out of my shell and makes me talk to pretty girls. Since doing the job i've been a lot more sociable and made social circles I otherwise wouldn't have.

Your generalization of "meathead" nightclub security is a pretty ignorant thing to say. Realistically, in today's age, night club owners are more concerned with liability and the last thing they want is some meathead working the door that will get them sued. This isn't the 1980s where we can pull someone through a backdoor and beat a person within inches of their life without consequence.

Not sure where you live but I have the opposite experience with them. The bouncers I generally meet are your stereotypical authority tough guys and I don't think I've ever encountered a student working as one part time.

I live in a university town so we have a lot of students and pretty good nightlife here. There are SOME establishments that will hire those kinds of people, but they will tend not to last long. It should also be mentioned that there is a big difference between being "bar" security and "nightclub" security, particularly in more rural areas.

As far as being a "Stereotypical tough guy" that could very well just be a self-fulfilling prophecy that you have due to your preconceived notions, although those people are definitely out there. They tend to not last very long in the industry.

This. I did night club security while in university. Not trying to boast but I have a masters in life sciences a degree in paramedicine and certified advanced care. This is why you should never judge a book by its cover.

Not that user, but as a vet who worked the HR side of things in the Army: You can "choose" via reenlistment options, or if the duty station you want to go to is short on your MOS (support MOS like paralegals, military intel and medics for example, usually much less so for combat arms jobs like Infantry).

For the record, the military can be a mixed bag. Sure you get to do PT, but at times the plans can be retarded, it took them decades to update the old PT Manual (which had gems like wearing knee high socks to prevent shin splints) and lifting is usually something you're only able to do on your own time instead of it being part of your PT schedule (save during the winter in some locations where lifting is what EVERYONE does for PT). Generally fitness in the military is based around passing the PT test and not much else. Oh, and Crossfit gets more respect than traditional strength training for some reason.

On the plus side, pretty much everywhere you go will have a gym and it'll be a pretty good one. Yes, even while deployed.
