With smith, you could actually go as heavy as you want without the fear of killing yourself, as such, you make better gains. But yea, not engaging your stabiliser is a big downside.
Ego aside, is there any reason not to use pic related and not a regular bench with a regular barebell
>without the fear of killing yourself
Someone missed that article.
stupid meme
if you get trapped under a smith machine you cant do shit, at least you can throw a barbell to the side
safest thing is a real barbell with safety pins
My 15 year old brother died benching on a smith machine
I can use dumbells but is it worth it to make the change? What are even stabilizer and why would I want to train them?
Smith machine is kinda comfy desu
>just go to another gym
mine is 5 minutes from home, I don't even know if there is a better gym at all near me
>Smith machine is kinda comfy desu
It's not comfy knowing you can only lift less weight on a real bench though
>I only care about aestetics
Why does everyone say this to justify meme lifts? Smith machine isn't going to get you any more aesthetic than a regular barbell or dumbbells, it's more dangerous, and the shitty range of motion is actually a detriment. Lift like a fuccboi if that's what works for you, but no one's going to give you support or respect for using the Smith machine. There's no reason to not get accidental strength gains when you try to lift for looks. Hell, even Zyzz did deadlifts.
Just saying that if your bench can be set at an incline, you won't have to worry about your shoulders.
Subtract 50 pounds from your bench if it's on smith.
Subtract 50 pounds from your squat and your pride if you use the pussy pad.
>he lifts for support and respect
sure buddy
