Relative to injury, share your stories

I'll go first

>Fucked up my wrist on bench trying to hit pr with no spotter

I guess I'm autistic

>Doc says it's just a sprain
>2 months pass still can't lift
>wtf
>see physio
>Physio trash
>see another physio
>Still a fucking idiot, at this point I'm thinking physio is a meme designed to take all your money
>No one believes me, dad thinks I'm lazy, friends think I'm a bitch
>Kms I'm too young to be dealing with this shit
>See orthopedics surgeon
>Tells me to go get an MRI
>Scraping by in order to afford this shit
>At this point I realise I've been fucked around for a year in order to figure this shit out, praying these scans show something
>Get MRI go back
>Lol senpai you got a ligament that didn't heal properly, lez get you an injection
>Cry tears of happiness no homo
>Finally some fucking answers
>Get injection, 6 weeks till I can lift again
>Currently 2 weeks in

Pray for me, I can't fucking take this shit any longer I just want to lift again

>Fucked up my wrist on bench trying to hit pr with no spotter.

Topkek dyel.

You'll be good man, you'll go back and hit it twice as hard

You wearing a brace/cast or anything? I broke my wrist once and by the end of it I was still using it slightly anyway

Just focus on legs while your arms are out of the picture

Yep I guess I deserve that

>some bone grew too big in both soulders
>touches some fibers in some movements
>fibers get tendinitis over and over again
>can do only a limited amount of exercises
>surgery wouldn't cost me anything
>no lifting for ~ 2 months
>haven't made it yet
>can't afford losing all gains
>only working lat exercise is chinups
>only bicep exercise is bb curls
feels bad man. Gonna get surgery when I made it. Maybe two more years

Cheers man, I do have a brace for it actually, I'll try using it as I ease back into the gym

I would reccommend you get it asap, you're only delaying the Inevitable, it'll only hit you harder once you lose even more gains, don't make it then get the surgery, get the surgery then make it and go further beyond

I heard from rippetoe on average you'll injure yourself once a life in your lifting career. Guess you just have to push through it

you look 150lbs lol

>I heard from rippetoe on average you'll injure yourself once a life in your lifting career.
Yeah, but he's almost completely crippled and gives no fucks about injuries.
So..he's full of shit.

Haha, I'm not really sure what I weigh these days but It's probably not even 150

Had a family member who damaged rotator cuffs at 20 years old. Told they'll never recover/heal, working out was his obsession up until then. He's out of shape now, his life nose dived mentally and socially, it was all he had.

Sounds like me if I don't sort this fucking wrist out

wasn't refering to your current body l

>Told they'll never recover/heal
nah doctors are all gains goblins. Maybe he can't be a powerlifter but I bet some lifting (12+ reps, sets across) will help recovery

2 weeks I go I developed a cyst between my ass crack. I got an appointment for an operation for tomorrow. Doctor says I have to stay in hospital 5 days and if the infection is really bad atleast 2 weeks.

Anybody got experience with this shit?
Im afraid I will rip my ass open during squats after recovery.

you lost a shitton of gains in 4 months desu
I'm this guy and now I'm even more sure about waiting with the surgery. holy shit you're dyel af

My friend had this, but it was before he started lifting, so I can't really help you there. He got surgury and took him a couple weeks before he could walk/sit normally, but he says even to this day he 'doesn't feel right' when he sits, but that's also probably just him.

You'll just fuck yourself even more in the end friendo, I honestly see no upside in you waiting

so there is butt wink and lower back rounding. I'd even try to avoid butt wink for a while, just squat above parallel or parallel if you have the flexibility or the willpower to actually do some resaerch on how to archieve parallel without butt wink

Ask your gp or specialist about if you can squat or not

I pray to God this never happened to me. God bless user. You'll need it from what I hear.

Just get the surgery and roid after.

Did something to my upper arm/shoulder about 8 weeks ago.
>doing incline db bench
>last rep, last set
>elbow locks at the top of the rep
>shoulder “falls”, only way I can describe it
>intense pain upper arm
>decide to take 2 weeks off
>come back
>full rotation in arm and shoulder
>still hurts when it’s straight against resistance
>can feel and see my arm shaking when it comes to pushing out last few reps of bench and cannot even do db press as it’s shaking from the get go
>start to worry that it’s serious and not just a strain

My uncles a doctor, says I sprained something and to take a month off of heavy lifting, ie no bench. Said fuck it and did light weight spoto press anyway. Arm didn’t hurt so I guess it’s alright if I keep doing it. Just want this thing to go away, felt like I havnt gone all out on bench in 8 weeks. For something that doesn’t limit my movement and only hurts in very specific activities this thing sure is a bitch and taking fuckin forever to heal. Any bros get something similar?

I had a massive one removed a few years back. Had an open wound at around 10cm in diameter. Took ages to fully close/heal. I did lift again after like 3 weeks though.

Make sure you don't squat too deep, it wil feel very awkward or even hurt/damage the wound.

Trust me, you and your gains will be fine.

Oh and btw, as some user mentioned, enjoy sitting while you can. It will NEVER be the same.

>tfw been out for 3 months because of infection
hating life right now

Sounds like by "fall" you mean your arm gave out

If that's the case it might be wise to take a break, since it's either a definite 2 weeks off or a possible injury that'll prevent you from lifting for ages

Wow sounds a bit like my elbow problem.
>2weeks ago
>doing db incline bench
>on rep 8 left arm "paralyses" for a second mid rep
>DB drops
>elbow feels like its being stabbed with a hot knife
>can't do any chest press type of excersize without pain in my left elbow while pushing high

It only hurts when i almost extend my arms, normal movements etc are perfectly fine.
Wat do?

meme designed to take your money here aka physio.

It (almost) doesn't fucking matter what kind of structural damage you've done to your wrist, the rehabilitation process will look more or less the same regardless.
If by injection you mean a cortisone shot all it does is kill the inflammation, allowing you to rehab properly without pain stopping you. If you do nothing but rest, there's a good chance you'll be dealing with the same problem again the moment you return to lifting.
Straight up resting is almost never the solution.

Also go kick that surgeon in the nuts for recommending an apparantly expensive MRI for no real reason.

But yeah, there are a lot of shitty physios out there. I wouldn't trust half of the people I studied with to handle the simplest shit.

dislocated kneecap doing wrestling
3 ish weeks til I can walk normally
6 months for full recovery

I felt a twinge in my left tricep yesterday. Light weight told me something felt off.

Feels fine today and I want to go back to the gym. What should I be looking out for? I don't want to fuck myself up here, my gains be rollin in.

>be me
>train 3 years
>gf breaks up with me
>start roids
>become one of biggest at gym
>prep to go on holiday
>be a dumbass and frontload 1.2g test and 800mg deca because im ronnie coleman
>start prepping to cut despite ironic amounts of gear
>get appendicitis on plane but dont realise
>2 days later, appendix blows up
>get peritonitis so they have to saw me in half
>can't eat for a week. had "very high" levels of glucose in my urine
>literally pissed away all my gains

That is fucking awful, I'm sorry that happened to you bro

>Hit 3pl8 diddly in high school during second year of lifting
>Get a physically demanding job after graduation, can't lift anymore
>6 months later, find a better paying job with more hours and less physical demands
>Start lifting again, try to hit 3pl8 diddly too fast
>Fuck my back senpai
>Hurts for the first week, stiff for another 3 months as I don't do any lower back work
>Feeling better, try to deadlift again
>Start at 1pl8, think I'm doing good
>1 month later
>o shit senpai I did it again
>Resolve to not do deadlifts ever again to protect my back
>Except I don't even need deadlifts to fuck my back up, helping my dad carry a stove up the stairs will do it too
>Can barely walk for the rest of the night
>Swallow handfuls of ibuprofen to keep the pain down
>Boss tells me to pick up the pace at work because I'm moving too slow
>8 months later
>Been stretching every day and doing heavy ab work
>Still stiff sometimes but mostly no pain
>Will still never diddly again
And that's just my back.

>knees destroyed despite good form, always had knees issues even while walking(short walk would cause them to hurt)
>hurt elbow while squatting
>recurring pec strain every time I bench over 250lbs for any rep range
>wrist injury straight bar curling light weight
>recent midspine pain after rack pulls

Stop fucking whining. Muscle recuperation after an injury is quick. Feel blessed that you aren't chronically injured like me and have to either not lift or work around it. Pic related, it's me.

>boo hoo I have the worst injuries of all be thankful you're not me and stop whining
How about you go fuck yourself?

You think so? That’s what I was worried about but I don’t see how it could get worse, or just stagnate and never allow me to go all out on bench ever again. Uncle said it was a deltoid strain.

I made this thread so we could all share similar stories/experiences and help each other out, it wasn't meant to be a dick swinging contest for who has the biggest injury mate. Get over yourself.

Well if it is your delts and you're set out on not resting, just make sure you're isolating your chest more on light weight so your delts don't take too much strain

>Was gymnast during childhood and teens
>Find out I can dislocate my left shoulder at will
>Doesn't hurt or anything and is a cool trick to show autistic friends
>Can't dislocate right shoulder tho, don't know why
>Years go by...
>Accidentally dislocate right shoulder while training
>Hurts like a bitch but I manage to pop it back in
>Resume training
>Dislocate it again, this time harder to pop in but still do it
>This starts happening at least three times a month
>Go to doctor after like the 20th time
>"user, you've damaged your shoulder to such an extent that you're missing a piece of bone"
>Fml
>Doctor tells me to build muscle in shoulder to avoid any more injuries

And that's why I'm lifting

Had this when I was 13 and it came back and had to get it done again when I was 16. You won't be exercising for a long time brah. It's gonna be all upper body and nothing you have to sit for.

Bumped my elbow into a gym locker lightly a month ago. Pinky started going numb when I was benching like 15 minutes later. My pinky has been either less or more numb depending on the day for a month now. Gonna finally ice/heat every day and wrap it in a towel so I don't move my elbow. I tend to sleep with my head on my elbow to so it's going to suck. Hopefully I don't have nerve damage already

I fell 12 feet (14 if you include legs being taken out from under me) onto concrete and landed on my back and elbow.

Didn't hurt my back at all (that's why you work your back out I guess), but my elbow still hurts and I fractured my wrist. There's apparently little flakes in there and the doctor said my ligaments and tendons are probably torn. I'm going to see a specialist today. Got misdiagnosed when it happened and apparently only sprained it.

I've been doing a lot of leg work and just figured out a way to work my shoulder pretty good with bands. So I'm going to do that with one arm while continuing to only do db movements with the other and see if I get any weird growth.

>started ballet years ago and within a few months I became ambitious as fuck
>decide to train a little at home too
>one day it was getting late so I decided to just do 5 minutes of warming up instead of my usual 15 - 20 minutes
>shortly after starting to stretch I'm paralysed by the most intense pain I've ever felt, shooting from my leg to my pelvis
>muscle fiber tear in an adductor of my thigh
>forced to quit ballet completely
>shitty doctors unable to identify the problem
>months pass
>finally a good doctor checks it out with ultrasound
>fiber tear has healed mostly on its own, but the muscle has hardened, which explains its weakness and lacking flexibility
>sends me to physiotherapy
>almost able to go into a full split again after just 8 sessions, plus my leg feels stronger and my balance is improved so I put less strain on my knee during workouts

Never cut warm-up time. Never.

Started lifting a few weeks ago, and every time I try bench pressing my elbow hurts like hell. Pretty sure it's my ulnar nerve getting pinched. Doctor just told me to wait and see if it improves. Any ideas for chest work I can do in the meantime?

The only reason I’m set out on not resting is I have full range of motion and it’s only in a specific scenario that I feel pain at this point, it seems that if I can do lifts without incurring any pain I don’t know why I should stop. And yeah that’s what I tried to do last lift, seemed to go well, thanks for the advice.

I'll swing my dick at this guy

>bone spur left shoulder preventing full flexion
>bilateral hip impingement
>also recurring pec strain
>recurring trap strain
>neck pain
>locked up thoracic spine
>no less than 3 incidents of very bad low back pain, now chronic
>many muscles tight as guitar strings e.g. pec minor, hip flexors
>knee pain, right side
>different kind of knee pain, also right side
>completely fractured ankle

And that's just the shit that plagues me all the time. Occasionally I'll have fucked elbows and shoulders too.

Still going strong!

Depends on your actual issue, but oftentimes elbow pain when bench pressing can be helped by:

A) Get a huge biceps pump. Seriously. Do sets of 50+ reps to get as much fluid in around the joint as possible.

B) Use exercise variations that don't lock your hands into place e.g. DB work, ring push-ups. No barbell for a while.

>be me
>somehow hurt my knee when I was young, hurts when I do anything knee related.
>never play any sports growing up because my knee always hurts.
>complain to my parents about it constantly, but they just tell me to exercise it more.
>ignore them because I think it's shit advice.
>go to the doctor one day.
>tells me that I need to exercise it.
>decide to start going to the gym
>do high intensity squats one day
>knee hurts so much when I wake up that I can hardly walk
>doesn't get better after a few weeks so I decide to get an MRI scan.
>Turns out I fucked my muscle tissue up and I have to choose between having the pain for the rest of my life, or getting surgery to have it all removed and increase my risk of arthritis
wat do?

You made this thread to whine about a non-issue. Take your own advice, faggot. You're clearly so insecure you completely missed the point of my post.
Another brainless retard who's projecting his own insecurities onto others.
Good. Whole point of my post was to contrast OP's whining about literally nothing.

Posted in the running thread:
"I get a stinging pain behind my knee when I run. It starts off like a nettle-sting sort of pain then goes away as I run more. Behind the knee is a bit stiff and kind of itches when I've been sat for a while or in the mornings. I've tried taking time out, even up to a year at one point to try to get this to go away and every time I start back, even it it's from the beginning again it reoccurs. Any ideas what it is/how to fix it or should I just go to a sports therapist?

Usually run about 30km a week. Had a few weeks where I dropped it right down recently and it's not made any difference. 77kg at 178cm if that makes any difference."

Any ideas?

He's crippled because he did powerlifting a nd equipped in addition to motorcycle and horse riding accidents. Cuck.

Holy shet user i can do the same, i can dislocate my left shoulder but not my right. Should i be worried?

Just an idea but my brother used to have pain that would last for days from walking/working for hours. Turned out all he needed to do was get orthopedic shoes (His feet are structured weirdly but not noticeably). No pain at all anymore. You should check into it

>Barge into my thread completely abandoning the topic
>Telling me I missed the point

Fuck off idiot. You’re honestly too full of yourself, make yourself useful and give some people advice instead of calling them bitches.

had to run the circuit of stupid doctors and physical therapy e-stim Bengay voodoo. Have had 3 shoulder surgeries. Pain is still in the exact same place in the exact same way. It's been 6 years.

impingement in my shoulder after my first time doing murph (1 mi run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, 1 mi run)

Took it easy for two weeks and I was fine. Never really had an issue besides that, 3 years crossfit.

I thought I had one of these and I went in to get it checked out. One butthole fondling later and I found out my tailbone isn’t attached to the rest of my skeleton. Apparently I broke it a while ago but I used to be fat so I couldn’t even tell. I’ll take it over a cyst any day though.

>Shoulder starts hurting when I lift on it every now and then
>Shoulder starts hurting almost every time after I lift
>Shoulder starts to really fucking hurt literally every time I even raise my arm
>My buddy has had a ton of shoulder issues, ask him
>Says it's probably rotator cuff injury since they're really common
>Gives me some exercises/stretches
>They don't help
>They actually really fucking hurt
>Lay off of my shoulder for like 3 weeks
>It feels a lot better
>Lift really light on it, and it hurts really bad immediately
>Read about some Active Release Therapy bullshit that's almost definitely a meme
>Go and see some like chiropractor/athlete trainer dude
>Sitting in the waiting room feeling like a fucking moron for wasting my time and money
>He evaluates it
>"Yeah, your pec is just tight, and is pulling your shoulder in to a bad position"
>Gives me these chest stretches, do them every hour or so
>In a few days I'm doing normal things pain free
>In maybe 2 weeks I'm lifting almost completely pain free
>It's been 5 months since then, and I haven't had a problem since

I still feel dumb for going to a chiropractor

hs senior year left knee acl, mcl, pcl amd menicus ...college sopohmore re tear acl, junior right knee meniscus.....football is lyfe.right?

>squat

>I say what
>some dumb bitch called the ambulance

IT WAS JUST A FUCKING SCRATCH

Share with us those stretches user. Let us learn from your mistakes plz

Sure, you just need an empty corner.

Walk up to it, get into a lunge with one foot in the corner, and put both forearms on the wall like you're doin a double biceps pose. In terms of height, have your elbows a couple inches below your shoulders. Ok, now, keep your back straight, and slowly move your entire torse forward, so that it pulls your elbows back. Move back into starting position, and do this for maybe 15-20 reps.

The other one is actually really well demonstrated in a Jeff Cavaliere video for chest stretches, and it's way harder to describe. Just Google "Jeff Cavaliere chest stretches", and it's the one for pec minor that he does in the video.

Stretched my tendon in my wrist (I Think) while trying to bench 50kg without a spotter while cutting (dyel). It's been about 4 weeks so far, i'm getting back into working out with the use of a wrist strap + sports tape but it still hurts at certain movements. Honestly don't know what the fuck is wrong with it because I'm able to DL 100kg, yet can't lateral raise 5kg without it erupting into pain.

I apply heat to it every now and then, that seems to help. Straps help minimally in pain, but definitely take the strain off of the join. At this point, i'm just working through the pain hoping that it heals properly.

jesus what is it about these overly loose faggot tanktops that attract dyels so much?

Same guy. Apparently a piece of bone is just dislodged or some shit. I don't know how that's going to heal.

Nurse was pretty though. Been trying to find FB to creep on it

All from playing Rugby:

>torn/hyper extended rotator cuff
I could only muster an arm tackle on a back that sidestepped me

>Mild bulging disk
scrum collapsed, so neck and back rounded

>Hyper extended wrist
Made a tackle but guy and me landed on it

I feel you fampai, lower back injuries take forever to properly heal.

I hurt my lower back trying lmao3pl8 diddly for 5 back in august. Gave it a week's rest and it felt better, but it seemed to reaggravate every time I deadlifted again. I've stopped doing diddly for a bit now, but still do low bar squat and back feels great again, but I'll probably stay away from diddlies for a couple more months.

I tore a muscle in my chest and turned completely purple for weeks and now I'm crippled and can barely move and have lost all my gains and am considering suicide

Check De Quervain's tenosynovitis

>Break tip of my pinky in basketball game
>Go to doctor and they give me a splint
>Take splint off - pinky still bent a little
>Keep lifting with weird pinky
I am sure Im going to get arthritis one day but fuck what can i do.

>De Quervain's tenosynovitis
Wrong side for the pain. It's on the side where there's a lump (Ulna). Thank you for the help though, i appreciate it.

>diddlies
>easy weight, 3pl8
>oh shit son
>bulging disk in lumbar
>been 2 months still healing

never gonna deadlift again. fuck that

I'm supprised a chiro really helped

>Being this mad at apparel

One of mr steal your girls victims?

same thing happened to me, working my way up through babyweight while squatting more than i ever have before. it feels wrong loading less to deadlift

Sometimes life just fucks you over so hard.
I mean I am upset at my lower back for giving me shit for deadlifting, I can still do literally every other exercise and I love squats, sometimes you don't appreciate health like you should

Sounds like a ligament thing. I would say just lay off anything that makes you feel discomfort beyond a normal level, I have a disk waiting to bulge on me and I hoped it would go away after a while and that deadlifts were an option but I came to the realization that snap city is not something you usually are surprised by, it comes creeping up on you and you see it but you don't run away but instead approach it, like the idiots in horror flicks who go toward that weird alien life form that just looks like it will fuck you up.
Stay safe and just avoid stuff that you know will make it worse, trust me, you will be able to tell.

>Full recovery
I always hate these words because it implies that you're able to properly walk without pain again, not be able to put strain on your body like you need to when working out

My niggas
Exactly my story and a pretty big dent in my enjoyment of lifting ,realising you're not made of invincible feels like shit.
My back is still more or less ok, my disks aren't slipped or something, but L5/S1 ist giving me worries, doctors said that it's very minor and it could lead to hernia if I put the same kind of strain on it that probably started it all:deadlifting 3 times a week and increasing my weights too quickly while only going for Max efforts pretty much every week

I know I'm late to the thread but I've had this as a recurring problem for years and finally decided I'd rather get it gone once and for all, got a consultation booked for November. user if you see this post please let me know how it goes and also what the scarring is expected to be like. Last time it happened the cyst popped during a nap and I woke up with underwear full of blood, pretty fucking tired of it.

enjoy your second asshole

>retina detached

Ok ill go

Dislocated knee 4 times, mostly from rugby
>each time minimum 4-5months rehab and babby weights
>surgery after 4th dislocation
>9 months recovery
>finally get it back to working order and lifting reasonable, strengthen every time i work out
>can never play rugby again but allowed to do light football (aka 5 a side)
>1 month into playing weekly I break my ankle because some fat clumsy fuck stood on it by accident
>surgery needed, 6 months recovery
>finally back in the gym, can never properly squat again as I am unbalanced as I push up
>shoulder in constant pain because I damaged it in my years of rugby, it now sits forward of the joint
>back in the gym after a couple of months off from working abroad
>try to go too hard deadlifting and throw out my back this morning

fug

if you get injured, rest and rehab properly you fucks, or risk developing arthritis before you're 30 (like me)

Very worried about this desu. I'm not lifting super heavy weight on DL yet but I think i've been loose with my form a while now and just waiting on something to happen.

It's funny because he can't steal any women

Haha :^D

I just posted this in some other thread. But I'll post it again here.

Bankhart procedure, open incision. At 19 years old
Genetically inherited osteoarthritis and tendonitis. I'm pretty injury prone. It sucks

Jesus fucking christ dude

So my lower back is kinda achy and pain, and my feet, only my feet feels kinda numb.

D-do I have herniated disc? I seen a doctor a bout this before and he told me it was muscle sprain. It went away after a few weeks, but recently it came back again.

You look really good before just saying

Y'all are a bunch of little faggot pussies

theres alot of stuff that can cause this, sprained ligaments in your back, a bulging disc that is pressing on your nerves in your back

the fact that your feet are numb is kind of concerning but not horrible, i would definitely see a doctor

daily reminder to strengthen you core if you want to avoid lower back injury

Yeah I told the numbing to my doctor, he wasn't concerned about it. He told me that it's probably no slipped disk because there was no major pain. He had me bend down and poke me in the lower back, and there was no pain at all.

It's not really numb, more like prickling. I can still feel it.

Broke my femur into four pieces running on a stress fracture from XC

>5'8
>155lbs
>cutting weight and doing omad
>yohimbine and creatine arriving tomorrow
>feeling great about my fitness for once
Then comes tuesday
>hiking up mountain
>bears near trail
>keep going cuz no gains goblins are gonna stop me
>new record time hiking up mountain
>on the way back slip and slide a good ways down
>ouch, dislocated shoulder
>pop it back in, pain is limited on way back
>get it xrayed
Now i cant use my right arm for a couple of months and my shoulder is loose, 90% chance of dislocating again. Every dislocation will further loosen shoulder.
I'm so mad right now. I shouldn't have ignored the bears.
Do I continue my cut? I cant workout upper body at all. Also, i don't want to baby my shoulder for the rest of my life. Any other dislocation anons? Do you still do pull ups and bench press? Did it happen again? Any advice is greatly welcomed.

Personally, I would say get back on maintenance or maybe a small cal surplus and stretch every day. Don't work it out for a few months, maybe a year.

Listen to whatever your doc says though. They'd know better.

>Still a fucking idiot, at this point I'm thinking physio is a meme designed to take all your money
absolutely wrong. you either couldn't be helped through therapy or you half-assed your exercises.
also, physical/occupational therapists are definitely smarter than you

>sprained my AC joint binching
>went to ortho
>prescribed 4 weeks PT and told me not to lift for 4-6 weeks
>PT is retarded arm band stuff

This was 2 months ago, now when I bench I start at really low weight and work my way up to avoid injury. I'd say getting injured help me with my form and learn the lesson not to overdue it because the 1.5 months I couldn't lift really sucked.
